  • This is what I did to convert a 30rd FNH PS90 magazine into a 50rd magazine.

    Thanks, i just converted 3-10 round magazine's to 49 round mags. It was very easy to do.

    Hi, for those that might have a feed problem, make sure the plastic follow is the correct way in and not upside down - with regards the forwards & backwards slant of its face - the shorter length is on the mag bottom and the longer one is uppermost.

    Took me 15 minutes with a small hacksaw, and no vice. I’d suggest Midway for FN magazines on the cheap.

    Woo I did it, except I glued the 2 pieces together so that the wire could clip in. Only lose 1 round anyway.

    Laws that state a maximum capacity are inherently unconstitutional.

    Wouldnt this reduce the reliability when firing? Since the tension for the magazine spring is much lighter than compare to when it's 30?

    • @rhobidderskag1121
      @rhobidderskag1121 4 года назад +5

      It appears to be the same spring as with the 50 round magazine. If you look at a 30 and a 50 side by side, they have the same number of coils with the 30 looking more compressed. That's not to say that sitting in the magazine effectively loaded with 20 rounds worth of tension hasn't worn the spring out a bit, but for the most part it should function just fine.

    • @Pavia1525
      @Pavia1525 3 года назад +2

      I can confirm that the spring in the 30 mag is the same as the 50. That’s why loading the 30 mag is harder than the 50.

    • @4-bangerYJ
      @4-bangerYJ 2 года назад

      I have an after market 50 rd mag and the spring in it is shorter than the 30 rd spring in the mag that came with the ps 90. By around 3inches shorter. Will be modifying mine too. I am in a state we’re it’s legal .

    Jim, I'm loving your PS90 videos. Thank you for sharing these. I have to ask though, where is that accent from. Almost sounds slightly Scandinavian. :)

      Thanks!
      Well, I'm not from any specific place; I grew up going everywhere in the states since I was in a military family.
      I've lived my formative years in just about every place; from the East Coast and the South until I was a toddler, then to the west coast in California until I was halfway through elementary, and the remainder of my childhood back in the central south again before graduating high school and enlisting into the military myself
      As far as Scandinavian, I never thought that my overemphasis on enunciation would make me sound like that! LOL

    There is actually a 3d print for a proper spring plate. If you got an ender 3, put it to use

    Will this compromise your springs longevity?

    You could probably 3D print a smaller piece instead of cutting the plastic if you have access to one

  • @bdawg5415

    Can this be done to a ten rounder or are the springs different

    • @youlikeitiloveit3747
      @youlikeitiloveit3747 9 лет назад +9

      10, 30, & 50 round magazines all have the same springs. I keep the little spring retainer and have all 49 rounders except one where I did a whole lot of sanding on both the floor plate and spring retainer to get 50. But I save like $12 online when I order the 10 of 50 and just cut the block.

  • @jeremydaileysr.8243

    Does it cause reliability issues when converting into a 50 round magazine?

  • @joey24698
    @joey24698 2 года назад

    isn't the spring too short afterwards? I can't imagine the exact same spring length used in the 30 mag vs the 50 mag, as the 30 mag tension would be super tight with all that extra tension

    You do know that there was no reason for you to remove all the pieces right? All you needed was the spacer and to just cut it. Just a friendly tip that could save you 20 minutes

      It saves some money by doing the conversion. That money could get another box or 2 of ammo, but I'd probably keep my 30 rounder and get more mags too.

    • @ericnelson3102
      @ericnelson3102 4 года назад +1

      What’s the point of having a 30 rounder when you can have 50? Get more mags if you want but if you only want 30 rounds just put 30 in it rather than 50
