I was glued to the TV for hours, and a tennis match ran late (as in the longest female finals in history) and the announcer came on and said "Stop calling, Pink Floyd will be on according to schedule" lol
No need to apologize for the interruptions, it's part of the reactions and it's also nice like this, we fans already know them by heart anyway XD And I can't wait to relive other songs with you too, thanks!
I agree. Interruptions are part of the reaction deal. I have heard this song many times over the past 50 years. I simply love listening to it with others who are experiencing it for the first time. I have to agree with comment that the song is still relevant today. In other word, the meaning as well as the music is timeless.
magic magic magical! You are a beautiful couple and it is felt that you hold so much love in your hearts. For everything it means to be beautiful human beings. Music is a magical part of this human experience
You two are now officially “Floydians”. Pink Floyd are different. They are not just musicians, not just a band. They are a cultural phenomenon. I timeless connection to something we lost, somewhere along the way.
Woo Hoo!! Another thoughtful and earnest reaction to PF. 🤔☺️ I think what blows me away the most about this band, beside their mastery of their instruments, is the fact that the lyrics and subject matter of their songs were composed when they were young men. When I was their age (and I am near the same age as David Gilmour), I hadn't given any thought to Time, Money, or impending death (Great Gig in the Sky). Dominika said it more succinctly when she said they are "timeless". Luff ya both😍
The guy playing bass with the long hair (Roger Waters) is an original band member who left due to a falling out with dave gilmour. He came back with the band for a while
This concert was so important in my musical journey. I knew about them before and heard all the usual songs played on classic rock radio. Then in the lead up to live 8 it was announced that for the first time in 24 years, the classic lineup would perform together. I watched it live on TV and was hypnotized. I instantly became a huge floyd fan and began diving in to the bands catalogue. 11 years later i am proposing to my now wife after seeing David Gilmour in Chicago.
Nice to see they had Dick Parry on the sax. A session musician player who shoes horses for a living. He got to play on DSOTM an album which was on the charts for over 14 YEARS.
It's such a huge moment , we were all so hoping the reunion would last a little longer but... Anyway it was a fantastic time ❤, and David Gilmour is still wearing his good old black t-shirt and jeans 👍👍👍🙌
Comfortably Numb from this same concert is also an outstanding performance. This was a benefit concert for poverty from Hyde Park in London in July 2005. The 4 band members would have been in their early 60s at the time of this concert.
I've seen Pink Floyd live one time and both David Gilmour and Roger Waters solo shows multiple times and you leave each one a different person. Being lucky enough to catch many shows from many different bands, its safe to say that there's no concert that matches the Pink Floyd experience. And I think it is also safe to say that there won't be any that match it. True masters of their craft and true geniuses when it comes to creating soundscapes in a person's mind.
Pink Floyd is the best band ever! I wish I could see David Gilmour play again. His solos take you on a spiritual experience and a journey you won’t forget!
My grandfather was a musician, and he used to say that a "professional" was someone who performs seemingly so effortlessly that they make you think you could do it too. Another great reaction! 😎🇺🇸
Enjoyed the review! Was fortunate to have an older teen brother when i was ten years old when this album came so i was introduced to this music at a young age. Remember those days when you would just read an album like it was a book looking at pictures over and over! Haha
Pink Floyd will always be my favorite band, since I was a teenager in 1973, when I bought this album. Yep. 'Dark Side Of The Moon' is 50 years old now. If you want to stay on the theme of money, please take a look at 'Ren' with "Money Game Part 2". A real discussion on the way money affects us all.
Here are a few of my older favorites: Pink Floyd - Remember A Day Pink Floyd - Julia Dream Pink Floyd - See Emily Play Pink Floyd - Arnold Layne My favorite concept album is Animals
This song is also from Dark Side of the Moon. If you get the opportunity look for the back story on creating the album and this song and the interesting items Roger Waters used to create the sounds of the jingling money and cash register. They were always ahead of their time.
You've made it throughs several songs from these guys and I hope you have a look at some of their longer pieces like Echoes, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Pigs, Dogs, Sheep...
If you love Pink Floyd. Try The Allen Parsons Project live. I bought Dark Side of The Moon in 1974. I see you two makes sense out of the lyrics. Shine on you. Crazy diamond is about Syd Barrett. Wish you were here. You got a remember things were different back then they were thinking about the times Vietnam war civil rights really the end of America as we knew it or so. We thought back then. However, listening to them for the first time back, then was just the same as it is for you when you hear it for the first time. They have their own sound, and they always sound good like they should. They’re unique and not only that they are an experience.
roger waters, the bassist, left floyd in 1985 and it was not a good departure. anyway, in 2005 - as seen here - they found back together on stage for a few songs. this very song - timeless at it seems - dates back 1973. even the original studio album saxophonist came back for this performance.
This is the last performance ever with bassist Roger Waters joining the band after he left in 1985. It was for a charity in 2005. Keyboardist Rick Wright died in 2008 from cancer so this won’t be possible anymore. And the hâte between Gilmour and Waters goes on and on….more tensions recently.
They do embody both musical and lyrical genius. The entire album "Dark Side of the Moon" is one of the highest selling albums of all time, for a reason. Timeless is an accurate description of both the lyrics and the musical tapestry they painted. Yes, they make playing the instruments look effortless. There is an excellent interview with David Gilmour where his wife, who now writes all his lyrics, explains how David writes a musical track, and she listens to it on repeat and that the lyrics come to her because as she then indicates "David speaks with the guitar": ruclips.net/video/RsRljXfaNu0/видео.html (2015-09-19 - David Gilmour - Another Side of David Gilmour - CBS This Morning) Also once you have listened to all the tracks of Dark Side of the Moon, you may want to view the documentary the band did on the making of: ruclips.net/video/jUBnS5G34IM/видео.html (PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD) There is a longer version of this documentary I believe on Amazon Prime, but this RUclips version contains all the important parts.
It really is OK, Dominica. There are some people who don’t like to have the guitar solos interrupted. Otherwise, I saw it mentioned elsewhere in the comments that this is the nature of reaction videos. You pause it and make comments. And I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say I enjoy your comments and your reactions. You’re doing nothing wrong.
Please react to Dogs of War, live, from the album, Delicate sound of Thunder. I think there is a "restored" video of it. You guys will be even more amazed. Thank you so much for your reactions. keep up the brilliant work.
You should try to the 4 full songs that they play...! (Fun fact: Madonna reunite the band) and Roger Waters was and IS Pink Floyd....the genius, the best lyrics was from him...! Is sad that now, Waters and Gilmour got hate beetween theirs.... You need need to react more to the Roger Waters music, "Dogs" live is a good first one.
I've been a rabid fan of Pink Floyd since I discovered them at 10 years old, 35 years ago. I've not heard any connection to Madonna, with respect to the reunion or otherwise, aside from the fact that Guy Pratt played on Madonna's Like A Prayer. Beyond that, I fail to see how anyone can say Roger Waters was Pink Floyd. It's laughable and disrespectful to the rest of the band who created the Pink Floyd sound that everyone fell in love with. If not for David and Rick, and to a lesser extent, Nick, Roger would have had a cult following but nothing more. Brilliant lyricist and conceptualist, yes. Possibly the best in rock history, but no more than a fair musician. David had to play many bass parts on the albums, and early on had to tune Roger's bass. If Roger was Pink Floyd, his solo albums would have sold far more than they did, or at least been comparable to the post-Roger Pink Floyd albums in terms of sales. Letting his ego inflate to epic proportions and leaving the band in the way he did was the dumbest thing he could have done.
@@ianfortier6796 Madonna to organize this Festival: Live 8. In 1985 the first versión was Live Aid, to organize by Bob Geldof...you understand now? Hello...? Is there anybody out on In there...???
This was a truly historic event to have these 4 guys onstage together after 24 years.
I was glued to the TV for hours, and a tennis match ran late (as in the longest female finals in history) and the announcer came on and said "Stop calling, Pink Floyd will be on according to schedule" lol
