Hi there.👋 The reason to empty the water out of the rain barrel in winter is because if the barrel still has water in it, when the water freezes it will expand and can damage the rain barrel. It a half-filled rain barrel freezes fast then, even with half of it still empty, the rain barrel can get damaged from the fast expanding, freezing water. Hope that helps!
