Terrific video, thank you for putting the effort in to do this! My daughter and I are scheduled to do the same route with the same outfitter in May 2023. I hope I can do half was well as you did. Well Done!
I thought I recognized one of your guides. Joe Zuiches; great guy, fantastic guide. He died a few years ago unfortunately, he was doing avalanche control work in Tahoe at a ski resort and his blasting charge detonated early. Died instantly. R.I.P. Joe.
Flew over Rainier 10 months ago on my way into Seattle to visit relatives in Spokane. Looks like an absolutely breathtaking climb. I live in South Florida. We don't have anything like Rainier down here. This might be an awesome thing to do one day.
Yeah, it's way-cool in summer time. Just try plan on camping somewhere close for a few days, drive up to Paradise patrking lot and plan to spend about 5 hours on a day hike at least. There's so many trails. But you need a permit to go above 10k feet I believe. It's so cool when the skies are clear!
I never got the chance to do this and now I'm not in good enough condition to do it... but I sure did love your video, soundtrack and all ... well done... Thank-you for sharing it!
My daughter and I just got back from Rainier. Took this route up to Panorama. I wanted to keep going. I am forever changed and will never get over this place! Coming back ASAP! Thanks for this video!
Great video. Sucks that you didn't make the summit. But man is that some gorgeous country out there! It's got me interested in climbing again. I did Mt. Kilimanjaro for my 30th birthday a couple years ago. Did a solo ascent of Pike's Peak in 8 hours last June. Hoping to add Rainier to my list in the next couple years.
MyDearSister although the video is amazing, it really does no justice to how amazing it is. I was fortunate enough to summit Rainier in June of this year. Absolutely amazing and I’m constantly dreaming about going back
This is really good! You should do more videos! Even if it's just a hike, give us some more good stuff. There are lots of mountaineering and backcountry hiking videos, but not that many good ones.....
Great video man! sorry about the high winds but a similar thing happened to us in Cayambe. Safety first right? I cant wait to experience Mt. Rainier in 2 months!
Vegan Nurse Traveler Safety is always first. High winds on exposed mountain is not a good combination. Good luck with your upcoming climb and enjoy the beauty along the way.
Hey nurse, did you make it to Mt Rainier? Did you try to summit? Or did you enjoy all of the trails around the mountain? I just hope that you enjoyed the experience! Especially with good weather!
I have climbed all of the major routes on Rainier. The biggest problem with Rainier is that you only have a 1 in 2 chance of good weather. Climbing Rainier in a white-out is no fun!
I can't even fully express in words how inspirational this video is! Thank you! I am SO excited to be climbing later this year! Did you use any microphones other than the ones built-in or any windscreens, etc? Did you do any post-production color correction? Thanks again! Cheers to you on your future adventures.
Thanks for the nice words. All the best with your upcoming climb. What route and month are you going? Used the built in microphones -- too bulky/heavy to bring anything else. The panoramic were stitched together photos or handheld pans. The photos had basic white balance corrections. The video portions were not color corrected.
Great, thanks for the reply! The quality of your video is excellent. We'll be up with a similar set-up for video/photography. We're still in early stages of coordinating with our group but we are planning on July or August.
It's weird how small the mountain looks on camera compared to how it looks in real life. Every time you point it towards the top it looks minutes away.
This is so cool 🤩 If I may ask (even though, as I'm assuming, you guys didn't ski it), from Camp Muir & the snowfield down, altogether, what would you rate it as a ski run?
Thank Anita, glad you enjoyed it. We used Alpine Ascents. They were great to work with and I would highly recommend them if you are interested in this climb or others.
I have also had an amazing experience with Alpine Ascents. They are top notch. Gordon Janow handles scheduling/prep. He's incredibly knowledgable and a great first point of contact for the company. Guides are all incredible as well!
Cool vid, pretty informative and very well shot! I can see Mt. Rainier every time I go outside. I love going hiking there. Planing to climb it next year. It will be my first experience mountaineering. Did you go with Alpine Ascents? Anyway great vid, gave me an idea of what to expect!
I am here because several days ago our Indonesian hiker have trip on this mt Rainer but he is missing.. can you please share to me what are the possibilities happen there? According to your hiking experience in this mountain Thnks
Great video, thanks. I am surprised the wind would keep you from the summit. With good gear and sun it shouldn't matter, so what was the deciding factor there? Thanks...
Ditka1 With 50-75 mph winds, it was too dangerous to try to enter the crater rim, as the winds were even higher at the top. We were barely hanging on. All climbing parties turned back that day. The sun being out is immaterial. We were in whiteout conditions as we approached the crater rim.
Thanks. Used GoPro 4 Silver with three different mounts: GP helmet mount, GP hiking pole mount and Peak Design mount for backpack strap. Also have a Sony Rx100 II for photos and hand footage.
Yes, batteries tend to not last as long in the cold. Kept them in my pockets or sleeping bags. Brought a couple of Anker battery chargers to keep things charged.
The trail head from Paradise to Muir Snowfields is a nice hike with some steep sections. Overall from Paradise to Summit is about 16 miles round trip (via Disappointment Cleaver route) with over 9000 ft elevation gain.
Bro, your pack is 45 to 50 pounds! You're gonna be sucking on this trip. When I did Rainier, we limited our packs to 25-30 pounds. Get a floor less Chouinard Pyramid Shelter for a tent, cut your full length climbing rope in half (we used a 9mil), eat like a monk, use a 2 pound down bag, and go ultra minimal. You will be glad you did when out on that frying pan snowfield on the way to Muir.
Terrific video, thank you for putting the effort in to do this! My daughter and I are scheduled to do the same route with the same outfitter in May 2023. I hope I can do half was well as you did. Well Done!

Wow ! 🙏🕊️
This is mind blowing scenery! Simply stunning!!
Nice video. Good photography, I like your editing and captions. Thanks for sharing.
Video is a few years old but it’s one of the best that captures the scenery . Summit 2020 here I come!
How did you do?
One of the best videos I've seen on a hike I wish I could do myself, thank you all!
one of the best rainier videos on youtube
Awesome well shot video. My wife and I were out there at the same time on vacation. Thanks for the great memory refreshing views!

Thank U. Depending upon your comfort level, the Skyline Trail from Paradise maybe a good base to enjoy the mountain.
Great video my friend. Awesome footage. Went 2x with Alpine ascents. Awesome trips. Thanks for sharing..
Love Mt Rainier. Excellent video! Congrats! Thanks!
Great video. I was at Muir that 4th of July and had spectacular clear skies also.
Yeah, clear skies are way-cool.
Awesome Video! One of the best RAINIER Climbing vlog. Thanks for sharing!
Great Job Man. People don't realize how hard it is to video while doing all that. By far the best Mt.Rainer vid.
Wow! What a great video! Thanks for posting - looks like you had a great time.
My daughter and I just got back from Rainier. Took this route up to Panorama. I wanted to keep going. I am forever changed and will never get over this place! Coming back ASAP! Thanks for this video!
Debra T Yes, the sights are definitely worth the return.
This is a fantastic video. Props to everyone involved.
This was one of the best videos I have seen. Went to Panorama point last week
Thanks! Panoramic point is great vantage point before entering the Muir snowfields.
Great video! Truly an amazing place
Thanks for taking the time to film! Hoping to go for it in '17 or '18 and this is stokifying for sure.
Great video. Our family hiked Skyline trail two years ago - I definitely wanted to keep going. Soon!
Wow! Amazing video and cinaphotography. Thank you.
That's crazy man! I made the summit on Monday and Tuesday of this week, and there was snow all the way down at the visitor center!
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing.
That was a very nice video. Thank you. Sorry you couldn't make it to the summit rim, I don't know how anyone could climb in those windy conditions.
Great video! Looks a lot fun. Love the soundtracks.
Nice video Hung! Its always nice to see a trip put together like that!(even if I was yelling at you to move faster) hope to climb with you again!
Absolutely amazing! Thank you for putting this out. I hope to do this someday; if not Rainier, definitely to do it somewhere.

When you guys were above the clouds, it's so beautiful.
I would love to climb this some day.
You should do it!

Very good video. Lots of info thanks.
Thanks for sharing your adventure. I'm sure pictures do no justice.
Climbing in July 2017 - thanks for the inspiring video!
Cool 3-day trip.
You video inspired me.
AWESOME CAMERA JOB! THANKS!
Great video; professional grade. Learned a lot for my coming climb,
Thanks
Thanks. Good luck with your climb!
Great video. That shot @ 21:27 is awesome.
Lovely! Ingraham Flats is such a beautiful camp, huh? Looks like International Mountain Guides' camp.
Very well made video! Thank you
Sweet vid....love Mt Rainier
Great video!!! Especially enjoyed the time-lapse at 15:00.
Thanks. One of my favorite moments!
it's 3 am and I'm sobbing because this is so beautiful
Or high
Annika Joy good for you and F those jerks and their stupid comments
absolutely stunning
Great music, and great attitude you had for getting so close but not quite! I'm sure it was tough. Hoping to summit early August!
Me too! Gonna go with IMG from Aug 4 to 9th. Good luck!
This is really good! You should do more videos! Even if it's just a hike, give us some more good stuff. There are lots of mountaineering and backcountry hiking videos, but not that many good ones.....

Good morning sir thanks for sharing your video sir
Well done! Thanks for the Beta.
Looks a lot tougher than Mt Fuji. I'm so interested in doing this though!
Marcus Kiner Give it a try!
I was at the top twice in February and October. it's easy to go there on a cow. Only height takes someone's breath away.
Great video..myrtle falls was as far as I got lol
Great video dude!
Very nice! Congrats!
Awesome!! Thanks!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪💯💥🙏
Just the letter light-background !
Mb you can place a dark one !
Super video Ton. thanks....
At 18:30 he points to Mount Adams and identifies it as Mount Jefferson. Above his head is Mount Saint Helens.
Someone has watched the secret life of Walter Mitty :) for real though, great video!
Great vid!! Nice editing.
Intro music? Great video, best I've seen yet. :)
Intro music is "Intro" by The XX. Thanks!
Awesome!! Makes me want to climb

pretty cool man, thanks
Love your music!
this place looks very nice and also very cold 😱😱😱😱😱😱
Really good video man, enjoyed it,the real feel must've been really low

Awesome video and soundtrack! I'm climbing in June this year. Really looking forward to it. What camera did you use?
Best of luck with your climb! Used GoPro 4 Silver and Sony Rx100 II for photos and hand footage. Thanks!
@@hbrownton how did the climb go?
Nice video! Thanks for sharing
This is so cool 🤩 If I may ask (even though, as I'm assuming, you guys didn't ski it), from Camp Muir & the snowfield down, altogether, what would you rate it as a ski run?
We didn't ski it but did hear it can be a fun run when there is plenty of snow. There are crevasses alongside the snowfield to be careful of.
This was ABSOLUTELY beautiful...brought me to tears in fact, towards the last end. What company did you use for your guides? Thank you for sharing!
Thank Anita, glad you enjoyed it. We used Alpine Ascents. They were great to work with and I would highly recommend them if you are interested in this climb or others.

The camp looks so close yet so far away.
Only 2 of the 8 climbers had technical experience. What experience did the other 6 have, if any at all?
I love nature's children

Thanks. Yes, went through Alpine Ascents -- they are great guides! Train diligently to enjoy the climb!
Yes, highly recommend Alpine Ascents!

@@hbrownton interesting. thanks for the info. going there in june.
Which one is that tallest snowy peak at the background at 5:27 ?
mt adams
Great video! What kind of mount (helmet, chest, etc...?) did you use for your camera during some of that first person climbing footage?
Thanks. Used GoPro 4 Silver with three different mounts: GP helmet mount, GP hiking pole mount and Peak Design mount for backpack strap. Also have a Sony Rx100 II for photos and hand footage.
So what happens if you need to go? Behind a rock 🪨 or make a snow potty?
The proper thing to do is to bring special bags to dispose of your waste. The rule is whatever you bring up, must come down.
How did you go about training for this climb
Great video! One feedback, it'll be better if you can spinning a bit slower when videoing around...
Where did you obtain the instrumental version of Anticipation? Really love that track but the rapper in the version I found ruins it!
amazing video!!!On the day of the summit, Do you know if the 4 climbers stayed behind due to the potentail threat of weather or fatique or other?
Primarily weather (high winds).
And where did they have to wait? base camp or the high camp?
High Camp on the Ingraham Glacier
great video! What did you shoot it on?
Thanks. GoPro Hero4 & Sony Rx 100 II.
have you watched "The secret life of walter mitty" by any chance?
Yes, of course. Great sound track :)
Did you have any problems keeping your cameras going with how cold it gets there?
Yes, batteries tend to not last as long in the cold. Kept them in my pockets or sleeping bags. Brought a couple of Anker battery chargers to keep things charged.
Cool video, sorry that you couldn't summit. Have you gone back since and successfully summited?
Can u climb Mount Ebbot?
About how many crevasses did you have to cross
I recall about 4-5. Some small and some requiring ladders. As the glaciers melts and shifts during the summer, new crevasses will form.
Is mt Rainer's trail up steep?
The trail head from Paradise to Muir Snowfields is a nice hike with some steep sections. Overall from Paradise to Summit is about 16 miles round trip (via Disappointment Cleaver route) with over 9000 ft elevation gain.
is it a guided tour?
