    movement: esdf
    rotation abilities: aqwrtgvcz12345
make capslock ctrl, use ctrl and shift with pinky for healer click binds
CDs: on open rotation keys or extra mouse buttons as needed (druids...)
ctrl and shift with index finger keys (rtgv5) for CDs
This maximizes keys easily accessible near the movement keys, particularly pinky. Since pinky isn't needed for movement. Their scorn for esdf movement is funny; it's better in every way. Most keyboards even have a bump on f, making it easier to find.

this allows u to hit A and D without having to take your finger off your movement keys
try hitting E while moving with D.. you have to physically take your finger off the key
binding Q and E to strafe right/left allows u to slide into A and D much easier for a stun/silence

SteelSeries Merc stealth, best wow keyboard ever. Scroll up and down for Main abilities, scroll wheel press for aoe, mouse forward button for CC, mouse back for dump/damage, 7 for interrupts (Merc stealth layout), dash 8. Additional binds: scroll right left, G, R, V, Function keys for cooldowns, tilda for oh shit buttons(bubble, feign death, Emerald communion etc). For healing I use mouse over click label with shift, alt control modifiers, and scroll up down. Standard movement keys, standard menu keys.

Q for filler, E for 'main' ability or second filler, like ice lance or demonbolt. R is usually most damaging rotational spell, sometimes a spender like hand of guldan or eviscerate.
    F is interrupt
    1 is main cd
    2 is defensive
    3 is movement ability
V is aoe filler or builder
T is also some kind of aoe button
Idk those are just some of mine

      @fribbe6416 2 года назад

      We're kinda similar then.
Q and E (shift, ctrl, alt) are all my damage abilities. Rebound strafe to A and D.
      R are stuns/CC
      F is interrupt
G are movement abilities like Disengage, Fel Rush
T are some random abilities like Feign Death, Misdirect etc
1 is offensive abilities (Bestial Wrath, Aspect or Meta)
      2 are defensives
      3 other big cds
4 are buffs like Battle Shout
X is selfheal, shift-X health pot, control-X healthstone
Also use Shift-C and Control-C for some abilities like taunt, mend pet etc.

  • @coenvanpoelje5498

    Kick = F, Tranq / sooth (Shift-F)
Taunt on E (while tanking, otherwise its a clickable somewhere on a bar),
Q is the rotational button that is only pressed once every 10 / 15 sec (Purifying brew),
R is always bound to some type of frontal aoe skill like Firebreath or Typhoon
For some reason my speed-up / mobility enhancer is always on V (Velocity).
Any type of main defensive goes on B (arkskin)
Both these are so easy to reach with the thumb
Aaaan I use Alt-f4 for my "Ooooh shit" button.

I would like to hand out a pro tip myself for keybinding! I made a spreadsheet where i ranked keybinds 1-3 depending on how easy they were to press. THEN i put in spells/Abilities depending on how important they were into a keybind slot. Like Mount, not very important (Shift+H for me), ranked 3. Insta heal, Rank 1, needs to be fast and easy to use(G for me). (for example)
Also another tip is moving your entire left hand 1 "click" to the right. This free's up a whole lot of combinations on your left side while you can still reach your modifiers. Like who uses Caps Lock? Yeah noone, so there you instantly have free 3 combinations with modifiers

Didnt watch the whole video yet, but the big 'insight' ive come to over the years is that when strafing with A and D, there are 3 key binds i can use in all cases when strafing: 2, 3, E. So on every class any core abilities that i need to use while being able to move go to those 3 keybinds.

      For me?
I strafe with AD, so QE are free use. I also unbind backpedal, so S is available.
So on every toon I have, Q is my core CC. Because cc makes someone QQ.
S is silence. On each toon, their interupt goes on S. spell lock, counter spell, pummel, mind freeze, kick, doesn’t matter.

And the best idea is getting a keyboard that has a split Spacebar, with a Function key in-between the two Spacebars, so you can use F1-F5 (or F6) on the same keys as your regular number row, except you just have to shift your thumb that's sitting on your Spacebar slightly to the right to hit the Function key. I use 1-6, Shift + 1-6 and F1 - F6 for my abilities, and my fingers never have to stretch for anything, and my hand remains in the same place for all of them.

I am confusion, I use QWERT for my five main ST abilities, 1-5 for aoe/role stuff F1 for interrupt F2and F3 for stuns and slows F4 for defensive or off heal And F5 for covenant ability. Shift 1-5 for class stuff I.e heavy mitigation on tanks or big heal cds for healers and Ctrl+QWERT for potions and such ctrl+1-5 for weird things I barely need with control on a mouse button. What the heck are these guys doing using wads for movement? Innefficient use of keys. I’ll make a keybind video for these guys

All these guys here - pressing shift, ctrl, and alt manualy.
me - I have ctrl/alt/shift all as mouse buttons rather than a specific ability on the mouse.
    My keybinds *generally*
    Movement keys
    W - Move forward
    Q - strafe left
    E - strafe right
S - Move backward (rarely used, but does come in handy. Especially in some scenarios when tanking and want to move something just a little bit)
Mouse right click - For all other movement options. It's pretty common for me to maneuver with strafe + mouse on fights. Manifested timeways comes to mind. or kiting around a boss while keeping melee uptime.
    Mouse buttons
1-3: ctrl/alt/shift. the quickest for my thumbs to reach and my thumbs are always resting there. turns all of my basic 1-5 binds into 4 binds. so i can quickly reach any of near 20 skills.
4-5: These are often used for stuff I want keybound, but aren't really specific to anything. I've put beacon here, I've put a hotkey to spam waymakers, one to clear waymarkers. etc.
center mouse button pressed - Short Cooldown Defensive (Feint/blur)
scroll up - non dragon mount
    scroll down - hearthstone
mouse button 3rd main click - dragon
Mouse wheel right click - Hard CC 1 (Kidney Shot)
Mouse Wheel left click - hard cc 2 (Gauge)
note: for the mouse wheel right, left, and click - those control druid forms when playing druid. as does scroll up (travel form)
    Main hotkeys
2 and 3 - spammable rotational abilities, or heavily used abilities. Generally my builders if that class uses them (Sinister strike/pistol shot | Fracture/Soul Cleave)
1 and 4 - occasionally used rotational abilities. Tend to be spenders, or something slightly longer cd but still core to ratation (Between the Eyes/Dispatch | Immo aura/Spirit Bomb)
5 - occasionally used or situational abilities, if i have a spammable AoE finisher it often goes here, with spammable AoE builder on 4 (Throw Glaive)
6 - rarely used abilities. usually something that I don't need often. This is often not even bound to anything (Provoke: all tanks)
Shift buttons (mouse button modifier 1)
1 - generally a dash or mobility skill (Grappling Hook | Infernal Strike)
    2 - Interrupts
3 - occasional class skill, and tank active mit (Steath | Demon Spikes
4 - AoE stun, or additional movement skills (Sprint | Chaos Nova)
5 - situationally used skill (Crimson Vial | Felblade)
    6 - situational skill 2 -(Vengeful Retreat)
    ctrl (mouse modifier 2)
1 - If i need it for rotation it's there. (Shiv | Fel Devestation)
2 - generally some type of buff, or utility skill (Slice n Dice | Fiery Brand)
    3 - Healthstone
    4 - ST stops (blind | imprison)
    alt (mouse modifier 3)
1 - longer cd rotational. (Ghostly Strike | Sigil of silence)
2 - Moderate cd (Blade Rush | Sigil of Misery)
3 - occasional AoE skill (Blade Flurry " Sigil of Flame)
4 - occasional rotational ability (Roll the Bones | Elysian Decree)
    5 - rarely used.
    F keys
F 1-3: Often offensive cd's. usually try to put any paired cd's close together. as my muscle memory hits f2 pretty reliably. F1 is usually a major tank defensive cd used frequently.
ctrl + f1-3: Tend to be major defensive cd's, and immunities across the board. be that tanks, dps, or heals.
Additional f1-f3 are entirely situational. Some classes have extra's that I need bound to alt or shift. but most of the time it's unneeded. All of my f keys will have a minimum cd of 1m. Often longer. Even my assasination rogues kingsbane + dance window is bound to alt + 3. . .
note - but again, I have 3 mouse buttons for the modifiers. so it isnt' really akward to pair alt, ctrl, or shift with any other bind. but for obvious reasons I don't have any of them bound to f4 . . . just in case I get in the moment and accidently keybind f4 shortly after pressing an alt modifier elsewhere, causing an unfortunate side effect . . Which may or may not have caused this very adaptation.

Im an esf enjoyer. It was weird for a bit after years of wad for movement but it was so worth it. Not only more binds to the left but i can reach alot of keys on the right side of the keyboard with my thumb. I is mount for example. Mana gem on j Shift H is mana shield, h is ice barrier when u start using your thumb all the bottom row keys become great binds too

  • @basil8940

'F' and 'G' to strafe, Mouse4, and Mouse5 forward and backwards. 'F' and 'G' with my little and ring finger, (left) thumb on RALT. All keybinds on the rightside of the keyboard with my middle and index fingers.
Essentially it means my fingers moving my character are not used for any keybind. So it doesn't matter what direction I'm moving, or if I'm changing direction, not one keybind, nor execution order of keybinds will conflict with my movement keys.
    H = Cobra Shot, U = Kill Command
As a basic example, during Bestial Wrath, Cobra Shot resets Kill Command so you do a lot of CS -> KC -> CS -> KC -> CS -> KC ...
I can strafe left and right, forward or backwards, in circles around other players, whatever I want, there is no confliction between my rotation and movement because the fingers are mutually exclusive. Unlike WASD where you can't strafe left and press 1 -> 2 -> 1 -> 2 -> 1 -> 2, not without origami hands.

as a left hander, move keys WASD, interrupt (F), hard CC (T), mobility (Q), spammable most used (E/R), taunt (mouse side button), buffs ALT+1/2/3, defensives F1/2/3, debuff on (\), spenders/generators on 1-2-3-4, rest of the keybinds CTRL+1/2/3/4, CTRL+`, Z, X and MMB. everything is easily reached, no way there's better keybinds lol

Movement: WASD with QE strafing (Too much muscle memory from other games to rebind)
Rotational Abilities: 1-4, R, . alt+1-3 for longer CDs. 1 for spammy buttons
    Interrupt: `
Hard CC: 5 for AoE (Leg Sweep), ctrl+` for ST(Paralysis) (Sheep) (etc)
Heals: Z, alt+Z, ctrl+z (Expel Harm, Vivify, Healthstone)
Defensives: X, alt+X (Fort Brew, ToKarma)
Movent: C, alt+C (Roll, Transcendence: Transfer)
AoE effect: F, alt+F (FSK, FSK stop) (Death N Decay @cursor) (Consecration) (etc)
long CDs: T, Y (SEF, Tony the Tiger)
Utility: G, H (Ring of Peace, Disable)
Gap Closer/Ranged Tag: alt+R (Crackling Jade Lightning) (Death Grip) (etc)
Mark Target: 7 Skull 8 Square 9 Moon
I'm sure my binds are terrible. But Z X only movement buttons? The Man's gone MAD.

The speed at which ESDF got disregard was egregious! Maybe it's not the case for pro gamers but for us common folk, my hands naturally line up on a keyboard on "asdf" like I"m typing. Pressing keybinds and typing will then use the same muscle memory and you get the added benefit of having the "f" key which allows you to easily get your hand in the correct position if you ever need to move your hand from the keyboard for any reason.

    • @Frawt
      @Frawt 2 года назад

I type at an average of 150-160 WPM and I orient my left hand's fingers on WASD. Putting your fingers on home row is the type of shit they just tell people who can't type to make them feel like they are following tried-and-true methodology to keep developing their skill. WASD is also nicer for using Shift and/or Caps Lock for capital lettering and symbols and so on.

    • @TheFloydNation
      @TheFloydNation 2 года назад

@@Frawt I’m sure you can learn other ways to type, having both my hands on the home row(actually forgot that’s what it’s called lol) just feels natural for me. I’d imagine if you did type from wasd position you would prefer gaming from that same position. I think more ppl should give it a try if they type from asdf. Maybe it’s the size of my hand but I’ve never had issues pressing shift either. I don’t remember when I made the switch from wasd to esdf but I know I’ve changed my keybinds in every game since. Absolutely love it.
