"Jacinda Ardern has hit back at a question from a journalist around the reasons for her meeting with Finnish prime minister Sanna Marin.
“A lot of people will be wondering: ‘are you two meeting just because you’re similar in age and have got a lot of common stuff there - when you got into politics and stuff - or can Kiwis actually expect to see more deals between our two countries down the line…?" the journalist asked.
Ms Ardern was swift to interject, asking if the media would quiz male leaders about their similarities.
"My first question is I wonder whether or not anyone every asked [former US President] Barack Obama and [former New Zealand Prime Minister] John Key if they met because they were of a similar age," she quizzed the reporter."

I got secondhand embarrassment from the question.
Barack Obama was born August 4, 1961 and John Key was born August 9, 1961. Jacinda couldn't have chosen a better example and it was off the top of her head. She's quick. Wow.

I guess the reporter was New Zealand's equivalent of Peter Doocy.
He certainly sounded like it. In fact when I read the title, my thoughts immediately went to Doocy, and I was taken a little by surprise to hear a NZ accent instead of Doocy‘s vouce.

When we had the mass shootings at the Mosques in Christchurch, Trump called and asked if there was anything he could do, Jacinda's response was send love and support for the Muslim Community, but he wouldn't even do that, that says something about him and his attitude. Our PM Jacinda has had an uphill battle against the kiwi bloke from the day she entered politics. If it wasn't for her and her government we would have lost far of our citizens to covid. What a disgrace- of all the questions that could be put to these people. In Australia, one of our most respected journalists ( a woman - Sarah Ferguson) spent 10 minutes quizzing the Finnish PM about dancing and parties ! FFS 🤦♀️
To be sure that was not the first time they have encountered sexist bs. I would suggest that they are so secure in themself as a PERSON of intelligence and integrity, that a fearful response was not even a possibility. How powerful, positive self-regard!
I’m lucky to call Jacinda Ardern my Prime Minister!
I love this woman, Jacinda. What a powerful intelligent leader.
I feel both of you should get together more often. Both PMs are great
I think of when Joe Manchin when asked if he and AOC were bickering, addressing her as, I've never met the young lady, which is very condescending. AOC pointed it out, that she would have said I've never met with that senator or that house member, of the same party by the way, that she would never have called him old man, and if she had used that term would be called out for it.
