Geez dude, get ahold of yourself.
He just spends the majority of the time praising his own gals that played under him and going far as saying his ex-player was on the same level as the greatest women’s basketball player.
Why is this a great moment? It feels far more like he can’t handle being outdone and can’t acknowledge the greatest women’s player didn’t come from his elite program.
It would have far more classy & respectable to just acknowledge that Caitlin Clark is the greatest of all time and in a class of her own.
Diana did not elevate women’s basketball almost single handedly into some of the most watched events on tv in recent years. It is insane to realize just how many people that had never watched women’s basketball previously, but have been tuning into this women’s ncaa tournament in large part (if not all ) because of Caitlin Clark.

Daina Taurasi won 3 national championships.
She has a higher fg% and 3 point % than Caitlin Clark.
She was a scorer when her team needed it and was never afraid to take the big shots.
For me it was my home state team of South Carolina, Tennessee and the Pat Summit dynasty, and Connecticut when Diana Taurasi came on the seen.
I didn't even know who Caitlin Clark was until last year.
She's a great individual player and one of the greatest scorers in the history of college basketball regardless of gender (eventhough Pistol Pete Maravich did his in 3 seasons because freshman were not allowed to play varsity back then).
I respect her talent and all the hard work she put in to achieve what she has done.
      She is a generational talent.
      One of the best ever.
      But teams win championships.
And personally I would take Diana Taurasi if I had to choose.
I watched Diana Taurasi during her college career.

@@leonbrooker8150 Lets put it this way. Taurasi has had a college and pro career for a long time. Nobody but UCONN and used to be Tennessee fans cared about Women's basketball. But they destroyed the records for viewership for the most people who watched a men or womens basketball game, and that is because Clark is special and people wanted to see her play, and she didn't disappoint. The NBA was struggling to survive until Bird and Johnson came into the NBA. Everybody associated with the NBA credits those two players for bringing back the NBA, and everybody benefited from the rivalry they had that those guys brought to the game. Instead of acting jealous, these other WNBA players should be grateful for Caitlin Clark, because there is virtually nobody watching the WNBA. She may bring more viewers to the game.

I get that answer. I worked with the UNC Women's soccer team for years. I've seen as many top level players as anyone. Every once in a while you see a player out there doing things, where they are, that would be great wherever they decided to go to school. That said, when you're at a top program you get EVERYBODY'S best EVERY time. I bet Geno would also admit that the level of talent Caitlyn's playing with may be slightly less, but they did VERY well with what they had. One thing all these top tier teams have to deal with is the competition catching up over time, due to better quality coaching which could also be a testament to these top tier coaches actively improving that aspect.

Has Caitlin only played with 2 star recruits? Is Hannah a 3 star?
Yeah no one can touch what Clark has done in her career and especially the last 2 years. She really could have been player of the year all 4 years she had an even better freshman season than Paige did.
Look at South Carolina uconn and Tennessee in the past. So many 4 and 5 star recruits. Iowa never gets any except for Clark and hopefully moving forward they get a couple at the same time. Because when it came down to the championship game last year and this year CC3 was worn out and the team was beaten up and overwhelmed physically. Really disappointing second half against South Carolina for the title. But it's a miracle they made 2 championships against an row with that roster. And they got no transfers at all for Clark to help her this year that was really unbelievable and sad. South Carolina got better after last season Iowa did not.
But the final rating was a peak of 24.7 million viewers at 18.7 million overall. Just staggering numbers that puts NBA finals and world series ratings to shame. I think it would have been 30 million peak if they played the game at night like they should have instead of the 3 o'clock b******* they could have pushed 30 million viewers at peak if they were playing at 8 o'clock at night. It's mostly because of Clark and her style of play great passing behind the back passes 35 foot jump shots like an NBA great called Steph and another one called Dame.

Geno Auriemma is such as hater that he’s comparing what Diana did on a powerhouse like UCONN to what Clark did on a small and unknown program. Dude, just have some grace and admit you f-ed up by missing to recruit her. There’s no shame in that. It happened to the best. 😂

I’m a huge Geno fan for the simple reason that he’s honest!
Truth be known Bird and Taurasi were both better than Clark!
They have the hardware: D1 titles, Olympics & Professionals

They were not. Iowa is potentially not even in the tournament without Clark. It's not all about stats, but Clark averages 28 points and 8 assists a game with ease. No one has ever been close to this good. Not Maya Moore, Sue Bird, Candace Parker, Griner, Stewart, etc... Caitlin is on another level.

@killapositionz2 Breanna Stewart is the best that I have ever seen at the NCAA level. She is great in the inside and the outside on offense and on defense, Breanna Stewart is an excellent rebounder and blocks many shots. Breanna Stewart is the All time Goat 🐐 of women's NCAA 🏀.

@@midnight-2021 she was the best before Caitlin. Stewart's UCONN teams were incredibly stacked she never had to carry her team in the same way. No one has had more individual pressure and delivered on the same level as CC.

Hmmm. Geno:"This kid is on the wrong team, she's got the wrong skillset to handle the physicality of that league, and she's a rookie"... Has not aged well... she the top of every scouting report, has been on triple double watch last several games and suceeded in garnering a win over NY while chalking upo the first triple double for rookie (none of the other 1000 rookies ever did that - including all his UConn plebs). They are nearing playing off contention.... Maybe Geno has been blinded by something.... Geno has not seen anything like it cause he's blinded by the light

Well!!! I would say that he’s been bias. Because only the best gets to go to UConn. So he can’t compare talent in his team to Iowa level of talent.

Taurasi may have been a better all around player but Clark had less to work with. Iowa was not like Indiana St when Larry bird got them to the final. They did have a better roster..But nowhere near the talent UConn had.

She was not alone and did not have a responsibility to run the play cause Geno took care of all that and it was a team game with others before and after she was a huskie. Caitlin has tremendous weight on her shoulders and knew it was her against THEM.
