I worked hard my whole life , my home is a few miles from here. I loved the restaurants shops the new bridge . The whole area was beautiful, paradise. Now just a memory. Everything is destroyed. It’s utterly heartbreaking. My life’s dreams ruined in 24 hours. I am just numb.
I wish you all the best and praying hard for your rebuild. We are with you as Floridians!❤
Just hugs .. I can’t imagine
Sending you lots of prayers and love 💕
My home and businesses destroyed
💔🙏🙏🙏
Bert's Bar was my bar. Matlacha, was my home away from home. Matlacha bridge was where I recently purposed to my Fiance. It's truly heart breaking.
My husband and I loved Bert's! Especially on Friday nights when Mike Iambasciani played.
So very sorry. Rebuild. In Montana. Its not a shock. This happens all the time next time will be worse. Times have changed. No easy to leave but start a tradition somewhere else. Hurricanes are intensifying. Your life is top priority. We only give businesses and homes love. They don't do that for us. You're not defeated. You're smart to move out of harms way. And live another day.
@@videorocketzmillar007milla5 No, I'm actually moving to SWFL permanently. I retired in April and bought a home there in 2020. I've worked 35 yrs to retire in FL and enjoy the rest of my life fishing and boating in the Gulf of Mexico. As sad as this disaster is, it's not stopping me from living the life I want to live. As long as I can buy home owners insurance, I'll be in SWFL. I've hunted my entire life. Including Canada, Wyoming, Montana and the midwest. I'm over it. I despise the vast open, dry, unpopulated, mountains, cold and snow of Montana and every other state in that part of our country. My heart and love for life until I die is in the Islands of the Caribbean and Gulf. It's a life style. Just like those who live in the Mountains or swamps of Louisiana. Ya can't pull those folks out of where they love and Mother Nature isn't pulling me off my Islands.
THANK YOU for showing MATLACHA!!! KEEP showing Pine Island!!!! THANK YOU! FINALLY!¡
I spent holidays and summers in that area. My family and friends lived in St. James City and Matlacha. This is gut wrenching to see. Worse than I could have ever imagined.
We used to live in SW Cape Coral. Most of the time the authorities exaggerate on how bad the hurricane will be let alone the direction. This one, Ian, was supposed to go to Tampa. Then, they had it as a Cat. 3 versus a strong Cat.4. The experts also tend to exaggerate the height of the storm surge. Bert's Bar was there since 1920 and survived all of those storms up until now so why would people think that this hurricane would be different. Plus, it's very difficult to leave when you're told a day before that it's headed your way. The hurricane shelters are small, hard to locate, are unsafe (criminals), and many don't allow pets. Also, once you go inside a hurricane shelter you can't leave until they say you can. The roads are backed up with traffic, the gas stations are out of gas, and where are you supposed to go? Which direction? How far? How long will you need to stay away? How much will that cost... $1,000 or $2,000, more?
EXACTLY!
No.. don't do that. Those that stayed, it's on them. Yes, it moved. Hurricanes do that. Yes, it increased in size and strength. Exactly how the Weather Chanel said it would 5 days before it hit. There were mandatory evacuations in Cape Coral at 5am Monday the 26th. Cape police were literally driving down the streets with their loud speaker telling everyone there's a mandatory evacuation! No excuses. Leave! Every hotel in FL was under state law to provide reduced rates. There should not be 1 single death in SWFL. Those that stayed just made a bad decision. No excuses. No BS.
How does one even begin to navigate through what is left and be able to find their homes? 🥺
Thank you for being in Matlacha!!! We often get overlooked and media heads straight to Sanibel.
Bert’s Bar was my bar too! And my parents’ bar. It was our go-to for million dollar views, fantastic fresh catch, and an amazing staff. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire staff at Bert’s, and for the Matlacha community.
So sorry! I visited Pine Island in January on a 4 month road trip, had the nicest art gallery....
RIP Bert's Bar & Grill!
And the Salty Dog!
Love the area all throughout there.. So SAD !
*Prayers Up*
We’ve been down every year past 30 years. My hubby family home💗
I was hoping to hear about our beloved Malatcha community.. my heart is broken over the more known Islands , Sanibel and Captiva( in which I haven’t heard anything about Captiva), but what hit home the most is Pine Island, Matlatcha, St James City… as a Native Floridian. You want to talk about the heart and soul of Florida, it’s these cities. I personally thought maybe they would be spared on the backside of Sanibel and Captiva as they are islands kinda in the backwater and in a cove… just heartbreaking 💔 . Love and Prayers from Sebastian, Fl.❤️❤️❤️ We are here for you! There are thousands of Floridians and other people from the Gulf states with boats on the way to y’all! We love you stay strong 💪🏼!!!
The Little Matlacha Village In The Heart Of Fort Meyers, FL That 🌀 Ian Completely Destroyed Yesterday Is Totally Unrecognizable Now! So Much Devastation! My ❤️ Go Out To All Those Poor Homeless Floridian Villagers & Families Tonight! What An Unspeakable Tragedy! 💔😢😭💔
My Heart & Soul acknowledges what all are going through.. Hurts !
Used to live there for a long time
This is so sooo incredibly sad! Prayers for all 😢🙏
Father God please shed light on these people and give them some hope and peace through this situation I am praying for you it may not be much but prayer works even in the darkest of times
Didn't people pray that it wouldn't hit them and didn't God create the hurricane?
There Goes The Neighborhood! 💔😢😭💔
maybe it's time to start building bunker style housing.
Sad day today in Matlacha….
If we listen with our ears and our hearts we will heal.
Waiting To See 👀 The Poorest Cities In Florida...I've Seen More Expensive Boats Than Anything Else...Where Are The People Living In The Poorest Communities????...We Know Thousands Of The Poorest People Didn't Leave??..Where Are They!!..Haven't Seen Inside A Functional Shelter Yet????..Where Are The Children????.The Teenagers The Grandparents?????????
Residents cant het home. No road or bridge. I am one. My husband amd father are there
I Just know what you are going through !
Heather, have you gotten and word from your husband or father? My cousin Michael Gordon was there and we haven't heard from him.
🙏🙏🙏🙏😢😢😢
Imagine if this hurricane went on for DAYS as it was first predicted? 😞
This is terrible
Damage beyond imagination
May God bless U.S.
My home carton !
Hurricane Katrina comes to mind.
Those crushed homes look like a pile of cardboard. Why not use concrete?
A lot of those homes have been there since the 20s and 30s
They need help with supplies
I know its your home but who wants to live like this year after year? Stop the madness. Get your insurance and move.
I wonder how many people wont get any insurance money because their home is considerd substanily damaged , lf code inforcment says its it is damaged were the repairs coast exceed 50% of the market value and its in a flood zone than they might not allow any repairs because they want the house on stilts , and if they wont issue a permit to do repairs than the insurance may not pay out ! If the president really wants to help than he needs to change the flood laws . If you own it you should be able to repair it !
Cute
Natural selection did it again. But don’t forget DeSantis went out his way to fight against helping Hurricane Sandy victims.
Because he disagreed with the pork in the bill which democrats always try to shoehorn in to get their agenda passed theyre the real monsters holding peoples lives hostage so they can get their BS passed
When people live on selfishness and greed: Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Matthew 24: 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.(H) There will be famines(I) and earthquakes in various places. 8
#JESUS IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. #HUMAN RIGHTS AND CLIMATE CHANGE.
#END CORRUPTION, CRIMES, DRUG CARTEL AND TERRORISM.
You knew this happened this was your fault.
Low quality American houses made out of cardboard 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Biden is blaming Putin for Hurricane Ian...
Give it UP! You're a troll. DeSantis is at fault for not preparing Florida for another damaging hurricane. Climate Change is real and the new normal-get that straight. This is going to cost Floridians billions. My heart goes out to those who lost everything especially their lives.
How about Haarp? They KNOW the truth but also we are living in the very last days. These things will increase
