I remember as a new believer a pastor who I highly regarded had a moral failure. As a new Christian, I was devastated. I remember telling God “ If he being a strong Christian fell into immorality, how will I a baby Christian ever make it?
Then God spoke to my heart in a way I’ve never forgotten. He said “ son, people are flesh and they may fail you.” “Keep your focus on me and you will be upheld.”Looking unto Jesus, the Author and finisher of our faith Hebrews 12:2.

We should not put leaders on pedestals. No one deserves Glory except God. We honour our leaders but we do not praise them, no one except Jesus is our saviour, and deserves our praise.
In terms of why didn’t the prophetic people see it, l believe like the disciples God did not allow them to see what Judas was doing. If the allegations are true, the Holy Spirit would have spoken to him about the sin in his life and given him time to repent, but when we don’t repent the consequences are enormous . What is done in the darkness will be made known in the broad daylight. Now more than ever God is going to expose everything that is not from him. It is a very sad situation and we need to be mindful that we can not stand in judgement because we can easily fall into temptation ourselves.
We need to pray for the leaders and congregation who are feeling hurt and confused and especially for the victims as well as for Mike and his family.
It’s not up to us to be judge and jury, but we are called to pray and weep in this situation

I wept when I heard this accusation about Mike Bickle. I remember when my only son told me about this ministry back in the early 2000a in KCIHOPE that had 24 hour prayer and worship. I said, Jeremy you are kidding. He said no it is for real. I said take me there so I can see it. I saw it for myself and my wife and I would go up to KCIHOPE twice a year for a vacations based on prayer at the prayer center. We were both educators and found that time so refreshing. We gained so much from this ministry. My first thought when I heard about this was that this was a take over to besmirch Mike Bickle. However, I had to listen and discover that it might be true. We need to be in much prayer for Mike Bickle and his wife and children, as well as those hurt by this.

This was unheard of back in the 80’s. It brings back painful memories. Our pastor was “taking care”of several women in the church. My dad was a deacon and my mom cleaned the church every week. We were IN IT! My parents always tithed like no other. There were many things that they found or God showed them regarding what this man was doing right under our noses and it broke our family apart. Our lives were never the same! Many years later my dad said “we shouldn’t have been following man and it wouldn’t have hurt us so badly” but i don’t believe they were following man as they loved the Lord with all their being. My teenage years were chaotic as they started drinking heavily and they never trusted any church enough to be involved! I know my dad went home in 2016 and my mom will meet him one day. I can’t help but wonder where we would be if the church had not been so betrayed. The pastor died of cancer years ago and I truly pray he repented and made it right with God before he died! My advice if they find out this is true is don’t stop going to A church just because a man of God betrayed you as he is a human being/sinner. You don’t have to attend that church but attend A church. GOD BLESS!

There was a part of the statement that was cut for time. You can see it as the screen flashes white. What was cut was a long pause as Stuart was gathering himself to say that Mike Bickle was banned from the prayer room while this process is seen through. I don’t know how many of you here in the comments are actually at IHOP, but this is the most surreal thing I could never have imagined. As someone who is here in the community, I ask you to pray more than you normally would for us. This is my church home. This is my family. This man has been dear to us. I know, I am here for Jesus and no other person or personality. But all edges of this situation need your prayer more than any other thing. Please. Pray for our leaders who inherited this gigantic mess. Pray for the people hurling accusations and misinformation at our community, passing fake images of reports and spreading rumors around in order to sow discord. Through this situation, the devil is trying to make God’s people stop praying for the things happening in the world and to cease from worshiping Him. Pray.

Sexual abuse is a complicated topic. I’ve been a believer for over 50 years. I’ve seen 2 sexual abuse issues in my own family. One of the situations happened to my daughter who came out with it when she was 12. She is now 25 and now confronting the issue in counseling. Many victims want to move on and go on with their lives but God has the last say. The person who abused our daughter is on a worship team. To this day he has never asked for forgiveness or made it right with her. This happened 14 years ago and Jesus has had us confront the issue with the abuser. I believe it’s for his own sake. God loves him but detests hidden sin and He will confront it. I pray for the victims and Mike Bickle. His ministry has changed my life but God is purifying the Bride. If the allegations are true then we need to have compassion for them and pray for them. Abuser’s can wreck a persons life and it may take many years for the victim to be healed. Most abusers manipulate their victims stay silent for the sake of family members involved. IHOP is a family so I totally get why victims may take years to speak out. Also many abusers are very sweet and quiet. This was the case for our situation also so it’s very hard to believe when you find out.

I can only add what I experienced with Mike and the IHOP situation. I remember the KC prophets and the spirit they were of. They exalted a so-called prophet named Paul Cain to a little lower than Jesus himself. Being young and impressionable I was in awe and curious. Anyhow, they were trying to bring other smaller churches under their church umbrella by exalting these "prophets" with Paul Cain being the greatest of the great. Mike, being a part of the KC prophets, exalted these gentlemen with all his might. Anyhow, a pastor named Ernie Gruen exposed these prophets as false prophets and their spell was broken. A little later it came to light that the man that Mike exalted to the same level as Paul who wrote in the New Testament, and Jesus our Lord, and as the greatest prophet of our time, turned out to be an alcoholic and a Sodomite. It was unbelievable. Anyhow, they laid low for awhile, and then I heard about IHOP. I was like, WOW, praise God! He has repented and turned his life around. A 24 hr prayer house? PRAISE GOD! I got to go check it out! I was very happy for Mike. So I went one night and saw the prayer room and everything and it seemed nice. Then I found out that Mike was teaching that day. It was really neat seeing all the young people hungry for the Lord. Then he came out and said a few things, then he started to teach on the woman who stayed in the temple to pray. Instantly, the second he started to teach, my discernment went off like a five alarm fire! The only way I can describe the sensing the Holy Spirit gave me was like I was literally in the presence of the devil himself. It was that strong, so much so that I practically ran out of there, I was dumbstruck. God was not with that man. I doubt that he is born again. Unless he's been saved since then, he is a false teacher that Jesus warns us about, deceived. I never went back. Sadly, this kind of situation is never ending. Every decision and action anyone makes is to be accountable. 35 years ago I made some really bad decisions. Even though there was a context it meant nothing. And I have paid a huge price for over 35 years. Even though the Lord forgave me like he did King David . I accept the reality that church leadings will never ever forgiven me. For 35 years they have rejected me and for good reasons, but the forgiveness by them means nothing to me. Just the Lord's and He has. Sidebar point, that Satan repeatedly again and again uses sexual temptation to destroy men in ministry and others with great success. King David and I are just a few. Many are still glad that my destroyed life will never be redeemed and so be it. Just to say God's forgiveness does not remove the consequences of our failures. So, I just live with the consequences and wait to die when I can leave it all behind. The blood of Jesus is so powerful to wash away any and all sin. Don't forget that Sincerely, GWR

But if we don't have close intimate friends that don't judge and we can share when getting tempted or attacked then we're not practicing confessing, accountability, and humbling ourselves (pride). A lot of ministers at his level would feel shame in confessing or sharing that they struggled with this or that and try to just pray through instead of asking for prayer and God hasn't called us to walk alone so sadly sometimes this stuff happens. Seriously? Question the timing. It’s a huge key! Be discerning, I have no idea if the allegations are true, but they did the same thing to Ravi Zacharias! Just because there are allegations, doesn’t mean women are telling the truth, but in all these cases, the women’s names never come out, and they’re never made credible and behind the scenes they hush up the man of God. The state of Georgia has very strict ethics laws for workers in licensed facilities( which he owned). And the therapists are instructed on what to do and who to contact if there is ever the slightest hint of inappropriate behavior yet over 200 licensed professionals claimed to be interviewed yet not ONE person ever contacted the police or the inspector general or the Ga board of massage therapy or the state licensing board? Not ONE person ever filed even ONE complaint? There is no way this would have happened in licensed facility where they claim the abuse took place! In Ga you loose your license for that! Yet all of his traveling massage therapists who practically live with him on the road all claim they never saw a hint of impropriety! These women supposedly exist yet not one name ws ever released. We don’t know their license numbers we don’t know anything about them it was kept completely silent. What a mess. But the Lord has no problems shining His light on it.
What I’ve experienced over 37 years as a believer attending various churches is that leaders will not listen to correction. Repentance is preached but rarely genuinely enacted.
The fact is we all need to get better at repenting and leadership owe it to the body of Christ to lead the way.

It seems like this will be perfect fodder for anti-charismatics, but I think the prayer movement and IHOP will continue on even if it is difficult clawing back from this. I hope IHOP takes full accountability and full transparency as they maybe haven't done in the past.

    • @joycesmeltzer1705
      @joycesmeltzer1705 Год назад +2

I understand your concern and I am with you. In my last years, I can tell you that I have seen God often vindicate the innocent. I truly believe God will protect Mike if he is innocent. Remember the words of Gamaliel to the Pharisees: “Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do regarding [this man.] For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing. After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed. And now I say to you. . .let [him] alone; for if this [accusation] is of men [not of God] it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it-lest you even be found to fight against God.”
On the other hand, Jesus said, “What is whispered in the bedroom will be shouted from the housetops”. I don’t think Mike is ruined. His reputation and personal ministry might be ruined by Mike himself if the accusations are true. While we will hurt for Mike, we can trust God to reveal the truth the Church needs to understand and also that the women need who have been cruelly damaged. The Church can gather round the victims and pray for them so that God will heal their broken hearts and souls. We can also pray for Mike to be healed and restored through repentance and the prayers of those who love him.

Saying that given the number of people in IHOP that the number of incidents of alleged or otherwise abuse is proportionally low is a garbage take. The attempt at mitigation of "1, 2, or 3 are enough" didn't help.
Mike Bickle needs to be investigated. As other comments have noted, we need to hold off judgements to let evidence be uncovered, but as it was also noted, pastors need to be above reproach. The church needs to have a structure of accountability, and charismatics and non-charismatic are awful at it. Charismatics have their apostles and prophets at the top you can't touch, and the other side has the executive pastors who are not accountable to anyone except maybe their executive pastor buddies.
