Quando Rossini ha scritto questa musica aveva 21 anni. C'è una voglia di vivere e di stupire in queste note che non è riscontrabile altrove.
Lets be honest here. Arguably one of the finest operatic finales ever. Rossini was an utter, UTTER genius.
It's one of the most difficult too.....and requires a very talented mezzo. Nobody has done it as well as Ms. Horne.
@@baritonebynight Nobody? Is it too much? No? When she appears with" Oh, che muso, che figura" i think about Ms Horn. There are a score of young and nice singers-mezzo to make the opera more attractive.

@@baritonebynight Sadly mezzos have gone out of fashion lately (along with baritones). But when you hear a good one, you're hooked.
This is Marilyn at her best, many years ago! She was exquisite (not least as a Rossinian) in her younger years, but I think she went on way too long and sadly I found it painful listening to her in her latest performances.

L' immenso genio rossiniano ai massimi livelli. Solo lui poteva concepire e musicare la follia in questo modo meraviglioso. Poi l' esecuzione è assolutamente magistrale. Grandissimi artisti che cantano ad una velocità difficilmente raggiungibile e con una tecnica impeccabile. Il risultato è da visibilio.

Ça commence très fort. Les féministes de tout poil vont s’étrangler de rage. En France, la plus imperméable à toute forme d’humour, la sinistre Sardine Ruisseau va faire assigner en maltraitance et abus sexuel le metteur en scène, Montarsolo et sa complice Horn et jusqu’à Rossini lui-même!

Signori, signore. Ma la comicità di Haly che per tutto il primo atto rincorre Taddeo con un palo (Signor quello sguaiato- Sia subito impalato). Lo nomina Kaimakan per ingraziarsi isabella. E loro nominano Mustafà Pappataci per prenderlo in giro. Ma.... Ma quel crescendo? il do acuto del soprano nel finale?... Quanto ci avrà messo Rossini a scrivere questa opera, un mese? Forse è anche troppo. La Cenerentola, il Barbiere, l'Italiana e terminiamo con il Guglielmo. Ma di cosa stiamo parlando veramente? CI rendiamo conto della pochezza di genio che abbiamo ai nostri giorni in confronto a questi Mostri Sacri?.

La cosa più drammatica è che tanti si spacciano per intenditori di musica e seguono solo SanRemo. Fai sentire loro Rossini e ti rispondono "bella sta canzone!". La pochezza nell'ascolto musicale è segno indubbio di limiti intellettuali.
In questo ruolo IMHO Marilyn Horne è insuperabile, il resto del cast pero' non mi sembra alla sua altezza . Montarsolo recita bene ma Mustafa' non è ruolo da buffo ma da primo basso. Perché il personaggio esprima la sua forza e la sua arroganza occorrono voci come quelle di Samuel Ramey o Ruggero Raimondi. La chiave umoristica dell'opera IMHO sta nella trasformazione di un uomo tirannico e temuto da tutti in uno zimbello a causa dell'amore. Se Mustafa' gia comincia con un'attitudine da clown il gioco non riesce più.

Esecuzione tecnicamente monumentale, corrispondente esattamente alla sublimità del repertorio buffo rossiniano.
Монтарсоло обожаю! И голос , и игра - все высший класс. Единственно, когда Хорн ужасается его внешнему виду, немножко неловко становится. Фигура самой Хорн оставляет желать лучшего.
