So what’s the point in having your phone or iPad hooked up to the drone if you always have to have it in your VOS? Also, it pretty much defeats the purpose of using a drone to find something that you can’t see with your own eyes or that is difficult to get to. There is no way that everyone continuously watches their drone with their own eyes. Completely ridiculous. Why make the distance of 500 feet when you can’t see your drone after about 300 feet? The FAA needs to make very clear rules that are black-and-white, not a bunch of vague gray areas.

Mean, if you have a controller with a screen, is it still visual line of sight?
No, line of sight is you looking at the drone/model aircraft with your eyes and being able to correctly see it's orientation.
