So, put the bud union 2 inches below ground level but don't cover it? That doesn't make sense to me. Won't runoff eventually cover it anyway if it's below ground level? Is that the point? Need more info on contradictory statements.
I'm just starting out with roses - I'm a little confused you start off saying to plant the bud union about 2 inches below the soil line and then backfill and then you say make sure not cover the bud union.
I would agree, it definitely sounds confusing! You actually want to make a funnel almost, keeping the the crown uncovered. It will appear the rose is in a funnel-shaped depression.
Thank you for this information , I just started planting roses bush here in Ohio not thinking about the winter , but now I think this is possible .
Thanks for the tips Ohio Family from Lorain. 😊😊😊

There is a diagram on this page that would be helpful: www.daytonnursery.com/knowledge-base/garden-tips/roses/
I don’t see a diagram
@@DaytonNursery I clicked on the link and I don't see a diagram listed I did read we're at mentioned the "funnel shaped depression" but no diagram.
Is it okay to put them in pots? I will be moving so I just put mine in pots. Thanks for the tips. ♥️ from SW PA. ✌️
Yes, you can even grow roses in pots if the pot is big enough...
