Imperial Guard: We've been overrun! Orks: We'ze all gonna die! Chaos: The Gods have forsaken us! Tau: The Ethereals protect us! Eldar: Retreat to the webway! Space Marines: Fall back and regroup! I don't know the morale drop quote for the Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle.
Of all the "Assault" speeches in Dark Crusade, this one reigns supreme, in my opinion. The chilling monologue by Macabee, the overwhelming power of the Necrons unleashed on pitiful Space Marine scouts, the Nightbringer's silent gaze... One could be engrossed by the dark charm of the Necrons by this scene alone.
Not me. I already had 2 Kasrkin honour guards and I equipped Alexander with 3 Kasrkin body guards. Necron infantry were just mowed down. The odd vehicle was tricky.
@@valentinom.4292 It's not too bad as long as you come with some anti tank units ready to deal with the tomb spyders. The biggest problem IMO is the extremely limited space to form your base upon.
The new units in the Necron Codex are quite interesting but why on earth did they have to get rid of the Pariah!? The Pariahs just seemed more interesting and sadly this'll probably be the first and last 40k computer game where we ever see a Pariah in a speaking role :(
No, the canonical nature of Pariahs (like Tomas Macabee, the chatty necron) is that they were originally human "blanks", humans born without souls who dampen psychic power around them and inherently creep other humans out. One of the main reason that Necrons raid and abduct human colonies is to gather more blanks, which are then turned into Pariahs. Normal humans cannot be turned into a Pariah, though it's been hinted that the Adeptus Mechanicus is tainted by the influence of the C'tan.
"We are born for a darker purpose than that of mere existence. There will come a time when the stygian night never ends, where dead stars will spread before us like islands that slumber on the ocean, and when the beings that hid like shadows will feed on us forever." -Adept Corteswain at the Omniastery of Selethoth, shortly before his disappearance. Codex: Necrons, page #51
Watching this makes me *facepalm* at the fact Pariahs are no longer in the Necron Codex :( Honestly Pariahs were a unique unit (Well certainly among the ranks of the Necrons anyway) and it's a damn shame to see them go. Even if the Necrons do return in a new Dawn of war game; there certainly won't be Necron pariahs because relic will obviously try to be as close to the current 40k lore as possible. There's such a drastic reversal in Necron history; it used to be the Necrons still served their gods ; now all of a sudden the gods were broken into fragments by the Necrons and they are in charge of their own destiny (Compare old codex to new one and you'll see what I mean)
Yeah but the New Necrons are pretty f...ing awesome, and I like their new incarnation :D (even though they didnt change much, the only real change is that the High Tier Necrons like Lords and Crypteks now have personalities, but even they are shadows of themselves since they have no emotions, the lesser necron are still mindless machines...the demotion of the C'tan is a refreshment from the all powerfull star gods that are super evil....nothing says powerfull as " WE KILLED OUR OWN GODS AND ENSLAVED THEM" and it actually brings out the true power of the necrons + since they are now in control of themselves some have their own agendas and plots, other that the supremely monotone destroy all life thing (even though the vast majority view all life as primitive "bugs" and want nothing less than extermination and enslavement for them) :3 (oh and hammer and anvil actually states that Pariahs do still exist :3 no models for them though :/ )
Luka Kralj Yes there's no doubt that the Necrons certainly have way better units than they did before. It's just a pity Pariahs aren't among them anymore :)
The Necron Stronghold can be tough, but with a lil bit of soldier squads and mines near the tunnel openings where they come out from, you got this one wrapped up. Still, very challenging Stronghold they have.
Darn, the Necron Stronghold has got to be one of the hardest in the game. Those four obbellisks can prove to be challenging, especially the resurection one, which is right outside of your starting base.
when i played necrons on Dark Crusade i used only necron warriors and the necron lord's powers. then i played Soulstorm and found out how fun flayed ones are.
@NicholasGeschke Good luck with that, a Blackstone Fortress has been destroyed by the Necrons, and I believe the other two have been corrupted by Chaos, essentially nullifying any hope of destroying them.
@kingshadownecron They are blessed by the C'tan with Immortality, thus. they are known by most other factions as the "Deathless Army" due to their powerful Gauss technology and gruesome champions of undeath.
@NicholasGeschke It's entirely possible Chaos, or more specifically, Abbadon, knows what the Blackstone Fortresses are and how to use them. The Chaos gods were born during the War in Heaven, and are capable of seeing in the past and future (or at least, Tzeentch is) whose to say they havent gifted Abbadon the knowledge to use them? It's worth thinking about.
Still one of the best videos in Dark Crusade. You really feel doomed when all those Necrons close in on the scouts! And who would want to face that many Lord Destroyers in the scene with the Necron Lord?
It's relatively easy to beat the mission with Eldar, without completing even a single secondary objective. All you need to do is strategically teleport bonesingers and build webway gates. Sure, 2/3 of them will die, but sooner or later you'll find a safe spot. Then, teleport away and do so again. I've even managed to bypass the Monoliths at the entrance to the main citadel this way. You can get Taldeer in and out in seconds.
the endgame is probably going to be necrons vs tyranids vs the imperium with the resurrected emperor. the eldar are already dwindling and their only hope likes in warp resurrection as a single deity. neither chaos nor the orks can ever get their acts together. the tau are too tiny to be considered. what i think will happen is, the iom and necrons will fight to the death and the tyranids will jump ship into another universe -which is the only action feasable for a race entirely bent on survival.
There's something I've always said about The Necrons. And you would not beleive how true it is. "The more of them you kill, the more that just come back later."
Towards the end of Winter Assault, there is a small batch of Necrons (one monolith and a few squads of Warriors) who attack whatever faction you're playing as. They're actually relatively powerful.
It's partly what they were based on. In the same way that the Eldar were based on a mixture of Tolkien's elves and asiatic warriors, the Necrons were based on a cross between the 'Terminator' machines (merciless metal skeletons advancing slowly and unstoppably) and Ancient Egyptian mummies (the undead rising from tombs, swarms of scarabs, obelisks and pyramid-like structures).
Technically, only the Necrons and the Eldar can exceed the 20/20 squad cap. Necrons can raise up to 20+4 cap worth with the Ressurection Orb (as of 1.2), or 20+5 with the Tomb Spyder. They can also trade their two 3-cap Destroyer Lords for enemy 5-cap vehicles, bringing them to a 25/22 total. On the other hand, the Eldar get boosted to 24/30 just for having a Avatar on the field. So there.
Stopping these guys is tough. Too many towers in the lair of their place. One for raising the dead, another for lossing control of ya vehicles, another to blind ya, etc. These Necrons are a pain.
I've never seen this one. I have played it on easy and normal (and gotten to the catacombs) but I never saw this particular cutscene. I saw a different one, one of the differences was that there where two squads of marines, not one squad of scouts who got ambushed.
with these kind of games there never really is any strategy to them, just make a base, make a bunch of dudes and send em' forward...thats why i love the Total war games so much:-)
@ArugalSwe Yeah, hardly fair really that all the other races get these big badass bases and cutscenes while the player has to fight a normal, even terms fight... kinda sucks when you think about it.
@kingshadownecron well when they made the deal they proboly weren't thinking they'd be turned into mindless machines for all eternity the great deciver probloy decived them
