- I love coming across innovative stuff in ham radio and this is no exception! This is the Fara-J Antenna made out of Faraday cloth/tape for the 2m band from Ben VE6SFX. It's ideal for rapid, easy deployment and would work well for POTA and SOTA operators.

Mine works easily as well as my n9tax or Ed Fong and is much more compact.
Love to hear this!
So it's basically steel fabric, or whatever other metal those strips are made of stitched to that nylon belt? That's actually kind of brilliant, absolutely have to give him kudos for that. Very cool.
Thank you.
Made a similar folding J Pole the other day from some 300 Ohm TV ribbon. It works very nicely on our fox hunting transmitter.
It cost about $2.00 in materials.
This is nicer … but it would want to be for those $$$ !
Maybe a couple of Velcro gear ties to keep it straight against a pole or even a tree etc..
Great idea!
I've had rolls of this kind of tape just sitting around that this gave me a (mildly amusing) idea to just build the antenna right on the wall with it.
YES! do it.
I got one of these... can't wait to get it out!
Damn, Hayden!
That is a really great innovation, it looks really robust.
Thanks for sharing this.
Very nice. I wonder how well copper foil would work in the same fashion? I have some of that left over from stained glass.
Foil works quite well. But over time it work hardens and breaks down. Plus sewing metal foil down for a permanent attachment is not feasible. This antenna was born out of this experiment on my channel FYI :) ruclips.net/video/d5itl1uWGtU/видео.html
Perfect for “Guitar Straps On The Air”!!
Nice!!
Thanks!
Thank you!
I want one!
It's a belt and an antenna!
Great idea
But how about a Slim Jim version ?
Thanks
Tim

They came in stock today! Timely video lol.
Annnnd sold out again! I am seriously humbled by this. More will be available next week.
Sweet! Congrats! I got my 2!
Good to hear Ben!
Do you know how the SWR changes if it is wet? Great idea and a very interesting video! Robert K5TPC
Yes I have tested it soaking wet. There was zero change in performance.
Do you know how the SWR might change if it is wet? Thanks! Robert K5TPC
It works exactly the same wet as dry.
Is that price in US Dollars? ... and the shipping cost ??
Website is very short on details.
USD yes and shipping details would be provided at checkout I imagine, which isn't possible whilst out of stock.
@@HamRadioDX It’s a great idea and nicely executed. It would be useful and I want one … but I reckon it would end up close to AU$150 shipped and I couldn’t really justify that.
Not really the sellers fault - exchange rate and high shipping costs, like anything getting something to Australia is a pain.
@@HamRadioDX Yes, shipping costs from the US have become crazy.
Nice 🙏
Thank you!
@@VE6SFX_HamRadioRookie Very innovative my friend.
⚡🙏⚡
It looks great and well built. Good idea, especially from a rookie. :)
I wouldn't mind one.🍻🤠
Show and tell wednesday night, please
I won't be there this week, but I'll try to bring the week after
Out of stock at the moment. I'm on the list.
Added new stock just now. :)
Shows 144 in stock now. :)
@@DonzLockz I am humbled and terrified at how fast these go. it started at 200 a few min ago
The black material is called "webbing"
This stuff is a webbing of sorts but is thinner and called Grosgrain and used in hat bands. Is it more UV stabilized than standard webbing
@@VE6SFX_HamRadioRookie Ok cheers. I get the thinner claim!
Out of stock 😢
Sorry! More will be in next week. I’m trying to keep up. I’m also very humbled so many get my vision and are supporting my fledgling business. Thank you for your interest
It's a J-pole, not worth $75.00!
$75 you must be joking, just use some copper wire
These are not easy to make and I get there might be a sticker shock. If you want to build your own you can find plans to build your own here www.patreon.com/HamRadioRookie/shop/fara-j-2m-70cm-antenna-plans-88511?source=storefront
J-poles require fairly constant separation between the conductors. Usually are made from twin lead or copper pipe.
The whole point is that it isn't wire.
The whole point it's a complete rip off@@naetuir
