Patch "Mystery" was created (first on the ESQ-1) by a submitter to Transoniq Hacker, an amazing collection of mags based around Ensoniq products). It's all laid out, SQ-80/ESQ1 owners can go through and easily program 100's of great sounds. Ensoniq released some amazing hardware that holds up today.
SQ80 would have been way more successful if it wasn't released just a couple of months before the M1, with its 4mb sample ROM, dual fx. I loved Ensoniq as a company and lament that it no longer exists. I owned a TS12 and only sold it because it wasn't being used enough in my studio and it was way too heavy for gigging. Besides that, and the fact that it lacked resonant filters, it was awesome!
yeah definitely do live and uploaded to youtube and you know what would be awesome but i doubt you guys would consider is to sample this emu things and sell them in packs i know is illegal but hey i love those sounds from analog
I didn't know Alan Howarth worked on Poltergeist. I always associate him with Halloween movies. I think Halloween II was the best version of John Carpenter's theme. The score for Poltergeist was of course composed by the late great Jerry Goldsmith. I know he was a big Yamaha DX7 user.
Are you guys doing theater or synthesizers? Anyway, it's nice to see some dedicated pieces of music gear like the Ensoniq synthesizer, Emulator III, and the excellent Ensoniq four channel effects processor. If you'd only replaced that cheesy screen in the back with the two octave M-Audio or whatever piece of plastic that is, and replaced it with a proper piece of plastic which is Atari ST, I'd be totally glued to your channel.
+Jim stout I was lucky to get a brand new old stock 1040STfm not long ago. Few days latter brand new old stock 1040STe showed up on Ebay. Hesitated on purchase. Someone else bought it. I regret to this day... I have the think for the ST/TT aesthetics of both the hardware and GUI. I think it's wonderful. My ultimate dream computer is still the TT030 with SM195 19" monochrome CRT monitor.
The movie you guys are referring to is the one with the TV static and the kids being scared to death looking down the hallways or something like that right? lol.
I think the problem is that you are sitting in front of the instrument. It's really hard for a synth-head to see you sitting in front of an awesome set of keys without touching it. It would be more pleasant for us if you had it standing behind you
Ok it's beyond 10 minutes in and we've yet to discuss this gear... I give up.

Could've sworn we'd see Gear Chat - Korg M1 after that last video! Just as happy to see this. Really like this series, looking forward to the next!
Happy halloween from 6 years in the future

Love my ESQ-1... If the grim reaper had an instrument, that (or the SQ-80) would be it lol
So true!
Guys i love all of this lately videos you guys make do more gear chats please
Too much yacking and rambling- you lost my attention before you ever started showing the keyboard
You know this was one of the VERY first workstations, The ESQ-1 (1986 )came out 2 years before the Korg M1(1988) and SQ-80 was in (1988) as well.

What is the difference between emu emulator 3xs to the emu e4x turbo classic emulator how about a Juno D1 review.
Can you do these same sort of sounds on an ESQ-1?
Jim Walker Yes, but only with the same waveforms the Ensoniq Esq-1 has. Esq-1 lacks aftertouch

You guys talk way too much. Just show us how to do it.
+wcm5150 Do what? This video is a discussion not a tutorial... that's the point in the gear chat series.
