A lot of confusion on why a CB instead of a Safety. Let me clear it up. First and foremost. Last year the Bears CB positions had a lot of injury time. They had to get a younger player in to fill the position. Second, when you have Tillman and Jennings on your team still. You get their replacement asap. So he can train under them. What better coach than a pro bowler like Tillman? Third, we have a few safeties already. I think 5 the last time I counted. And they are going to compete for the job. But, there are only like 3-4 CB's. Also he can compete for the safety position. Just because he was a CB at Virginia Tech. Does not mean that his position is set in stone. He has the speed, strength, and height of jumps for just about any position. Fourth, they needed a player that is known to stop a run. As well as go for the QB to create more pressure. The Bears are going on pressure of the QB. It's known to drop the percentage of accurate passes. And create a higher amount of turnovers. And not only can he create the pressure. He has the skills to take advantage of the pressure. And get the interceptions it will likely cause. Lastly, this guy is an all around versatile player. He can run routes, pick off interceptions, stop a run, sack the QB, and he even can block a punt. The only guy I know with that much versatility was Julius Peppers. And seeing how he is gone. This guy will make an excellent replacement!

After watching him for two years for the Bears (being a Bears fan), I think they should move him to safety. Both positions on the roster are thin, so I see why to keep him at CB for now, but his tenacity and instincts on the ball may be better at safety, allowing him to read and react, as he may just be too tight-hipped for corner at the NFL level. Just my take. He played both safety and linebacker in college and was a Captain. Just more reasons to consider a switch.

Andy Tihonow I don't think he can be quite that good. Flowers has amazing hips and change of direction. He is also equally good in press man, off-man and zone coverage. Also as good of a tackler as Fuller is, Flowers is a better one.
