NO, no, no. no! Do NOT ask in English, "Did you have a good life? !!!!!" (This means that you assume that the person you're asking IS ALREADY DEAD!) Even asking if they "have had a good life?" sounds almost the same. It would be better to ask, "Are you having a good life?" (I'm an interpreter and translator for the United Nations.)

My friend, take it easy. In this context when asking a senior person to reflect upon their life it's totally okay to ask them if they had a good life. Cheers.
