      Would this work boosting a high gain amp well? I use a Tim or Timmy into my high gain amps cause I detest TS mid humps and usually like the way my amp sounds but want to kick it in the pants and tone sculpt without adding to much radical eq-ing. Usually don’t need tons more gain just sculpting options. Thanks.

      Really have been looking for a bit of an always on sweetener/EQ for my ampless set-up. I think putting this before the delay/reverb as an EQ and adding the 610 saturation is a dream come true. Would have liked to have a mids control, as the UA dream has a ton of low end, but not so much mids. It seemed to work well in the video, but curious how this interacts with other digital solutions as I know some pedals really only respond the best on real tube amps.

      @OriginEffectsUK Год назад +1

      @@Michael_Is_Avg The DCX BOOST should work fine into digital solutions like the UA Dream, either boosting slightly or as an OD sound all of itself. Not much room for a MIDS control on the DCX!
      If you're looking for mids, the M-EQ DRIVER is our mids focused offering, which may be perfect for your fender style amp solution.

      @@Boneronfire You can definitely use this to push high-gain amps further, using the LF to tighten up the lowend without having your sound become too mid-focused.

    Many thanks for that detailed demo. About 10 minutes in I ordered the pedal. Same happened with your M-EQ Driver demo and I have less than zero regrets. I use the OE Deluxe61 and Magma57 in my stereo chain (then go into a Boss IR-200 just for the IRs) and results are the best I have ever had. I have sold my Dream and Ruby despite their great sounds for two reasons: 1. The OE amp pedals do at least have a foot switch and tap tempo option while the UA stuff has exactly nothing to make them usable in a rack. 2. Both UA pedals had about zero headroom and simply did not work with some of my humbuckers / filtertrons.
    I have to ask a (most likely stupid) question though: you are using the M-EQ before the DCX while my spontaneous idea would have been to do it the other way around. Sorry if you have explained that, but I would really be interested in the reasoning behind that (which is most likely better than mine). Thanks.

    I have the M-EQ and I love it. I’m wondering what the differences are in the distortion characteristics between the DCX and M-EQ. Same amount of available drive? Same clean-up with the guitar volume?

    Hey Mark! Considering between this or the OAMP, which do you think is more versatile, I don’t really need the long distance driving capability of the OAMP since I have the EUNA already. For tone shaping purposes, especially for modelers, which would you pick? Thanks!

      DCX couldn’t be more different in terms of frequency response, it’s as close to full range as Origin have gone. “Flat”, but giving you sculpting options. It won’t mangle,nor accentuate certain frequencies off the bat. Unlike the MEQ, which is all about the mids. Both based on studio gear, but this being an extension of a hardware preamp, and the MEQ being a recreation of the iconic hardware EQ.

    I’ve been considering a deco for the saturation side but this seems like a great but similarly priced alternative.

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  Год назад +9

      UA Max looks absolutely amazing. I’ve been fawning over it since it got announced though I haven’t gotten a chance to try one yet. It’ll all come down to preference though, some people prefer analog circuitry vs digital (I’m ambivalent on the issue). Additional considerations are that the origin is more of a twist on the original (with the overdrive mode) and the adaptive circuitry. I also have a lot of annoyance that UA puts EQ controls behind the app with no onboard control for what I think MAKES the 610 so important. Again, preference but that’s the thing; it’s all preferences and having options are great. I think the max is tailored made (for me ag least) as an end of chain mix bus in a pedal. This is a gain stage / preamp / EQ

    • @Lodit24
      @Lodit24 Год назад

      That's fair, I'm not a fan of "click bait"-titles either. But imo, it's also fair to be hyped about gear, and I think we all use phrases such as "Best ... in the world/last century/this century", when we're hyped about something. Also, as Mark mentioned in another video, he doesn't feature gear on this channel that he isn't convinced off, so you can probably trust him that a pedal is something good, even if the title sounds like click bait. And lastly, Mark isn't a wizard either, and I think it would be too much work to change all other video titles if you find something that is better, but you didn't foresee that happening in the past, if you get what I mean.
