Glad to see you react! I did look up some RUclips reviews which states that it has extremely graphic violence and imagery which makes me think it’s going to deliver on the body horror.
Saw this recently and don't worry, it really does deliver on the body horror and it is absolutely wild. It's just well hidden in the trailers, which is good
I am so pumped for this movie!! I love horror movies, I've always looked Demi Moore and her acting, and I've always wanted to watch the movie Revenge by the same director. I am guilty of watching a recap of it. I really like Fargeat's style! Love that this won Best Screenplay at Cannes. It's been said that she pays homage to horror movies that she admires in this one. I can already see references to The Fly and The Shining in this. The back scar makes me think of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but in reverse. I also like the themes of Hollywood agesism and sexism, the Me Too movement via Dennis Quaid's character Harvey, and the worship of youth and refusal to destroy the status quo via Margaret's character. She's amazing too! Consumerism is big in this, too, as referenced in the sound design of Dennis eating the shrimp. I could also hear the needle as it pierced the membrane of the bottle of Activator fluid. So detailed!! I will definitely watch Revenge before this comes out. That having been said, I have seen a review from a gentleman who saw it Cannes. He also wrote a review online about it. Based on several watchings of the trailer ( including slowing down the speed), I can tell you that it is going to definitely pack a punch in terms of body horror. Hair and makeup I have heard were awesome in this regard. In horror films, I prefer practical effects VS it being CGI heavy, and it sounds like Fargeat has more of that approach to doing special FX. She's going to get even more acclaim than she has after this is released!!
Watched the trailer the other night. Thought the camera work was insanely good. I’m intrigued. Plus I like 90s Hollywood, as you know, so I’m glad to see Demi Moore back in a non-straight-to-DVD role.
Yes and in a role that looks like she’s actually good in and trying! I’m actually fairly excited for this one… people keep saying the trailer is holding back.
This looks very interesting and proper Neon Demon vibes! Oh yeah! I never noticed the Re-Animator fluid! Good catch! Dennis Quaid is good as a baddie and yeah, Demi looks like she will be great. I'm a bit fan of Margret as well, she's got some range when she's directed well. Like you say, they're not showing much of the body horror but I'm hoping they actually just kept the trailer the way it should be and didn't show too much like mainstream films do these days!
@@BluRayDisplay See I still need to see Neon Demon! He is, he’s such a gross and just icky bad guy in this haha. I forgot to mention that it already has like a pretty high certified tomato rating. It must have played at a bunch of festivals or something… but I’m really hoping that yes they’re holding back!
@@ShawnCBailey Ohhhhhhhh! It's a very good and creepy film. Quite disturbing actually so I think you will like it! Ha! Hahahahaha! Yeah, him eating like is more freaky than any of the body horror we'll see in this! 😣😣😣 Oh cool! I just checked the IMDb page and it looks like it's been screened at every festival there is! Great way to get a film like this going. I hope so too and this quote from the parents guide has me even more hopeful..... "High impact blood and gore, injury detail and mutilation including close-ups of grotesque imagery that cannot be described." We might be in for a treat! 🤣🤣🤣
Aesthetically the movie looks good from the trailer at least.. I hope Demi gives a tour de force performance.. and finally, I hope The Substance has substance *ba dum tis* 😆
I went to see it with only the trailer for background knowledge, and as someone who hates “horror” that relies on being disgusting or as graphic as possible, this was genuinely traumatizing but at the same time i left the theater a bit intrigued idk if for better or worse💀
@@ShawnCBailey no, i think the film was pretty straightforward message-wise, i think my questions stemmed from the fact that someone had the mind and inspiration to make it that grotesque and honestly vile, i think body horror is not for me, it just feels depraved, but there were definitely interesting messages that we dont often see in film.
saw this at way out west festival and it is pure bloody grotesque body horror, the trailer is not showing any of the most shoking moments
Super happy to hear that! Finally saving some of the good stuff for the movie! Yet the trailer still makes it look good which is crazy.
Describe the fight scene.
@@roryjones7244Stop asking for this
We'll watch it at the cinema
saw this at Cannes. y’all better prepared for this one. believe me it’s boundaries-pushing batshit insane movie.
Heck yes that’s what I want to hear!!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Who is narrating in this trailer?
That’s a great question, I’m not sure who it actually is but it’s a specific character in the movie that is never seen.
