Any idea of how much voice storage that would be? (Ballpark). I expect it would be more than the battery would support without a charge up, but would be interesting to know.
I have a Sony M-730V MicroCassette-Corder. It uses the same microcassettes, that fit the Sony Answering Machine TAM-30. The one feature that I liked about the M-730V, was that it can record when it hears a noise, while being completely off.
I think these basically had a couple of specific usages and it wasn't for general public, it was used by journalist or interviews or used by secretaries to keep 'minutes' of a meeting or something. I'm sure it had some other niche uses like doctors offices and things like that. It was a supposed 'upgrade' from having to have hundreds of mini cassettes.
The biggest single issue i see that would destroy sales for this is it isnt even big enough to hold an hour lecture. HEAPS of these things go to students, you need about 4 hours to hold the 2 -3 lectures you commonly have in a day
Lmao. And to think I just got my mother a digital micro device to replace her cassette stuff to avoid the pain of analog to digital recording and file management after the fact… This thing is even more smooth than modern units!
John mate, im dead sure you know this but the irony of doing a video on a voice recorder with all those room reflections is kinda high XD That room really needs a bunch of soft furnishings if you arent gonna close mic lol.
When these were new, they were invaluable in the legal field. Tapes could be erased accidentally or physically damaged. These were smaller and more durable and way easier to store data.
Love the videos, one suggestion I have is perhaps take a different approach to your thumbnails if you're doing niche tech! Look at the 8-bit guy, for example. I think the audience for niche tech is less compelled by click-baity thumbnails. Of course this is only a suggestion. Keep up the videos!
Think of how long a Casio watch screen can stay on from a button cell. This recorder has a much beefier AAA. The always on screen does t surprise me, but just my $0.02.
I just came her to pause teh video at teh start and let you know you have an erroneous apostrophe in the thumbnail. "It's" is a contraction of "it is". People get confused about ownership, but the ownership case only applied to the person or thing in question, i.e. "the player's ancestors" (nothing belongs to the word "it", the ownership pertains to the player).
I added a link to the current ICD model to the description... they even smaller now with USB-C and up to 64GB of memory 😳

@@mycosys Thanks for doing the math, that's incredible!
A was for Felonies, B was for Misdemeanors, C was for civil cases.....
Love the tech videos. Great to see content from you in different formats/across different interests. Keep it up!
A really cool car/tech video is up next 💯
The new studio looks great!
Thank you!

Now that's awesome! Talk about power saving 🔋

Had no Idea you had a tech channel, cool!
Can you say the years this stuff was used? I'm aching to know the years of the portable credit card machine from Holley.
Please review the Samsung Yepp YPT7x - my first mp3 player - so cool and so many features to look at
2nd? I love the tech throwback!

Can you imagine being the guy who had to save all the recordings in real time?! 😳
Plus these are easily hidden in a breast pocket which was crucial for discretion.
@@TechThrowbackI'd imagine these stored in the evidence locker next to the casettes, if the recordings are on flash, not ram

Kitchen timers have "always on displays".
For... some reason...

"What if there was a device with an always on screen, years before Apple ever did it?" Yeah, Android.
👌
You well look like WatchJRGo
People tell me that 😛
