  • Brian Hall is many things-a published author, public speaker, loving partner, friend, community caretaker, and a devoted cyclist. He has dedicated his life to sharing his story with the intention of removing stigmas, transforming being the “other,” and bringing people close for intimate conversations and connection.
Brian's symptoms of Parkinson's disease started at age 14. His high school basketball coach noticed his movement was being hampered by intermittent foot cramps, as he ran the length of the basketball court.
This was the beginning of a very long and frustrating medical journey. For years, the uncertainty of Brian’s condition left him with a great deal of fear and doubt about his physical future.
Then, in 2013 almost 20 years later he got a bicycle, and his entire world changed.

“My goal is to participate”. Those words will live within my soul and within the given moment that is life. Thank you Brian ❤

I cried through this entire video because I know the battle Brian fights every day. I am 56, and was diagnosed with PD at age 49. I too found mountain biking to be the one thing I can do to forget about this disease for awhile, and to keep pushing myself to do more. If he can make that mountain climb, I can sure as heck keep pedaling again and again. Keep up the fight,Brian! You're my hero.

I met Brian today in the grocery store. I felt I was meeting a celebrity. He was kind and put up with my fan girl. I came home and watched this again with my daughter.

Y u gotta make me cry at work? I watch a lot of motivating cycling/fitness influencers. I thrive with a hardass yelling in my face, but nothing makes me stop griping and kicks my ass to stop taking things for granted like this guy.

I have essential tremors and ride my bicycle 3x per week year-round. Focused Ultrasound has replaced deep brain stimulation as a medical treatment. It is non-invasive (no cutting into the head) and does not require batteries. I am scheduled for the first of two treatments at nine-month intervals next month. It does require that the head be shaved, but that should make for cooler rides in the summer heat. May God be with you as we ride the trail life.
