Thanks for the tip on voltage I turned on a 1500 watt space heater to drop voltage to 12.0 under load and shut off all solar panels and the turbine did in fact take it back up to 12.6v

That's the one I ordered its built very nice. The excluded controller is horrible. A custom built controller is the best for these. I tested mine with a 100 amp rectifier and voltmeter and it definitely works. I just need to build a telescoping pole for. My portable trailer its mounted on to get good wind. I will show everyone after John sends me a custom build controller and dump and I finally build the pole system I need. I love the 5 blade because it works in lower winds.

full spin now from all directions now. providing there is wind. This is only 1 meter 20 cm in diameter at 500 watts. If we want 1500 or 2000 watts then will need to plead our case with the town hall or settle for the best Darrieus that we can find.

Hello Sir, Question for you, I noticed two things that "perhaps could be thought about", dumping power through resistors when it could be dumped into a water heater element would perhaps be "More Green" the other thing is that you could place the 3 phase rectifier near the wind turbine end, thus two situations, more wind power more wind for cooling the block rectifier, thus only needing 2 core cable, "Welding cable might be better for low loss of power" you could mount ALL the control near the wind turbine, and have only two control wires activating a heavy duty relay to provide the breaking, but you could still mount the load at the output rectifier end ? yes the rectifier would take heavy power IF the unit is rated at the expected MAX power, overvoltage / over current relay could switch automatically into a water heating element, I personally just think all the resistors used in your system might be better to dump exsessive Load / Heat into a water heating element, you could still monitor the max wind speed using a hall effect probe on a toothed gear using this as part of the automatic load system, or just measure current using a shunt, the output wires from the shunt dont need to be heavy duty as the load into the Digital measurement indicator is around 1 to 10M ohm, a shunt with s suitable millivolt output say 100A 100mV would be better used than a 100A - 75mV output which is for old switchboard analogue instrumentation, you can get dicast box with rubber seal and waterproof glands for the cables, for the instrumentation, I used LASCAR simple pannel indicators from Farnell or RS, Components, all perameters can be changed with links provided on the back of the panel meter, use 200mV FSD input with 100A shunt crompton shunt is what I used in the past, if its voltage you wish to measure then you use a resistive divider network,

dont forget the cooler the rectifier the less voltage drop across the silicone junction thus should be greater power,
CoolMusicToMyEars I’m new at this but why do you want the board near the turbine? I thought the turbine produces 3 phase AC which is fine with long distances and can use smaller wire. I find this RUclipsr difficult to watch. Very confusing and jumps around. He said one thing that I know is wrong. He implied that MIssouri Wind unit is an alternator. Lie. It’s a very good unit custom built for wind. When people lie I turn off. But hard to get valid analysis of these Chinese turbines. Down to $150 for 500w now.

Look for the 600 low wind 3 blade, do not buy from sellers claiming a 600 watt can do 300% more from their stores on Aliexpress. Lots are crooked, that is why I only deal with Green Energy Solutions or B&C turbine. 13 years doing it teaches you who to avoid!
Do you power all your house with renewable? How many batteries do you use? How much power do you produce? How much is your your electric bill? What is your opinion about chinese ? Did you compare it with USA wind turbines? You have a lot of connections everywhere. What about if you next time consider putting them all together in a box or even better in your battery box. It's just a suggestion.
If your Dumping power frequently then maybe look into 3 phase water heater elements in your heater tank for Brake diverts.
U should place a metal casing around the resistors and put a fan wirh a pipe for the heat tongo outside

The Chinese started building that one for air 405 from flagstaff and sold them out the back door for half the price. They bankrupted the company. And yes they are good. Mine has been running for 20 years now maybe longer. My son's spit out the blades into his sheds roof. But is still in good shape.
Yes this design has been out for quite a while and originated off a original French design call the Aerotoff in 1977. but the Chinese model uses a double row bearing with a compression center and is much more improved than any of the models made since before 2011 as far as durability they are very good as long as you make sure not to abuse your blades or install them incorrectly you'll get 20 plus years.

The reason the most recent new one isn't up yet is my testing different combinations of options on a furling system.

Hi John. I subscribe, so watch and appreciate all of your videos. As a complete novice, here in Spain, I do find it difficult following your train of thought sometimes. Your experience and expertise is without question of the highest order ... but (sorry for the but), your explanations and video technique fail to explain to this novice how your setup actually works.. Too much jerky video feed and jumping from one thing to another. I don't need help making my own components or pieces of kit but would very much appreciate a very SLOW walkthrough of how you physically installed your latest chinese turbine. Just focus on the one turbine, completely ignore the others. Start with 3 wires coming from the one turbine and show us, component by component how you connect the various wires until you reach the batteries. Nothing too complicated, please tr,y and for my sake stay on topic, keep the camera focused on each part of the install for more than a few seconds so I can understand fully so that I might install my own turbine and add it's small input to my solar battery array. I just want to use the turbine as a trickle charger, nothing more. If you can do this it would surely help me and probably many others who want to install their own turbines but do not have the confidence or experience as you do. A big thank you from me in anticipation of your good nature and hopefully another informative video. Best regards Graham.

Of dumping all that load to the resistors why not dump it into another charging circuit to some other set of battery to get storage instead of just heat

What size is the controller? Will it handle multiple PMA,S? and will it have a resistor bank for dump and brake controller? What's the specs? You will get the low wind 3 blade model for your purpose on that house boat. I need to design a portable pole mounting setup that can lower or fold down for transportation.
Do you think a 7ft electric floor jack would work if I welded the flange on top and welded a hinge on the bottom . What do u think?
You can make a 21 foot pole for raising and lowering like a telescopic antenna. I have done them on ranches in a few places for sheep camps and cattle care shacks.

My own Telescopic pole design using Schedule 40 Rigid Pipe and the 1-1/2 flange I put a link to above: You use 12 feet of 1-1/2 pipe inside of 12 feet of 2" pipe ( ID of 2" pipe is barely 2, usually 1.97-1.98, and OD of 1-1/2 pipe is 1.91-1.92 or 1-15/16" ) so you have a slip install. You just put set bolts in the 2" pipe about 4 of them spaced about 5" and half around it to lock the 1-1/2" pipe inside the 2". Visualize it, and you drop a locking collar amzn.to/2WaTXLp where to 2 meet. You can go to the local Electrical Supply and get 2-1/2" Schedule 40 Rigid that the 2" sch40 will fit into the same way as above, making it telescopic by putting a welded loop on it you lift with a smaller pole and extend. Hope thats visionary in detail.
I think this could work especially if the phase 3 motors are tied in parallel and can keep the running motors bank full enough to run lol. I would make a sound box for it to so no sound.
To mitigate that horrible wind noise on microphones you can get a muffler for the microphone. It's basically a little fuzzy glove that slips over it, sound can get in but wind doesn't make that noise.

Yes, the turbines I found with a higher quality windings and larger magnets are still available at the links below. In fact they've even improved them since I bought them to where the blade castings are much better. I suggest if you're in a low wind area to look on their page for the low wind 3 blade model it will perform better than you can imagine.

Starting at 6-7 mph (7 kph) it begins to produce up to 10-15 watts, at 10 mph it produces over 70 watts, at 12 mph is when it really makes good power over 100 watts. At 20 mph its making right at 300 watts ( 260 to 315) and once it hits 25 mph its making up and exceeding 500 watts. The power curve is very progressive. If you have good winds in excess of 10 mph, or 12 kph then its a worthy item.

I use 12 volt, I prefer it due to parts availability as well as convenience. Multiple small turbines over one big one. In 24 or 48 volt any failures are bank breaking.

What I would like to know is if this would be practical in a boon docking situation? Is a 400w wind turbine comparable to 400w solar?
Never had wind power so I am a newb. I do have existing solar with 48V battery bank. I am going to order the 800 watt 48V version of this turbine. I already have a spare classic 250. Tie it to the Midnite 1500W clipper. I want to try to set it up conservatively so it will hopefully live a long time. Clip it right at 800 watts maybe even 750 watts. Any guess what voltage that would be? You see any issues with that setup/plan?

John I just got into doing wind turbines .I would like to know how to build the brake system you have so I can get all I can out of the 2 turbines I have. Can you help me out please. With the controller I can only get 200 watts out of 600 watt turbines

Howdy champ...enjoying learning your wind turbine stuff....Wondering could you use a tacho on the generator to know wen to cut out from over reving wen batteries full and hi winds...utilize an adjustable shift light to trip going into brake mode or maybe bypass to nutha battery bank .?? I still haven't seen more then 238 watts from mine yet but then again winds haven't gone over 20 mph
If its mounted high enough in clear air and hits 25 mph your gonna see 500 or more. But the best thing on these turbines is the consistency your gonna get compared to all other options.
I noticed i get about 1-1.5 volts less from one of the 3 phases consistently. That has to be affecting output. What can i do about that? Is the manufacturer good about warranty stuff or can i order a replacement stater?
So john...took the turbine back down cause i was getting angry watching it spin and make little to no power. I removed it from the pole and got back to bare wires straight off the slip ring. I tested voltage with the drill like you do but with a corded drill for consistent speed. Getting 67.3 volt out of 2 of the 3 phases, 60.1 out of the last. Checked multiple times and perfectly consistent results..... what now. This has to explain why im not seeing power. Hope to hear from you soon.
Would a low torque electric motor be better then have it run to a gear box to increase rpms? On the phase 3 units?
Do you dump any load into heaters or baseboard heat when the batteries are all topped up?

For a small greenhouse.
I am Building solar water heaters for radiant floor heat, with geothermal and want to dump excess into an electric water tank when the batteries are full.
To heat a green house just use a 300 to 500 watt DC element in a good barrel of water & you can top off as needed. It will radiate and add vapor to the green house. Only fill it to a point it has the heating effect you want, and not to a boiling capacity.

I Guess You would have to automate the process, not hard, just need 3 of the cheaper WINDANDSUN SSR controllers and some temp sensors and a 3 phase solenoid roll over rotating switch.

The biggest thing is a good quality controller, be sure when you get the turbine to get a controller that can handle this little monster. 800 watts with a diversion load pair to it would be smart.

Uhhhh make a gasifier with a side feeder. Top is good to add a hose but the fuel is Pure and will run a generator. No need to refilter and try to use water.

Comes with a factory slip ring. The GE500 has proven to be very successful orbital magnet design. I was preaching this to USA makes for decades, the Chinese finally did it and mass verses magnetic flux now are equal because they tried it. Now you know why they are beating us in everything. We gave up on innovation.
I'm using a 500w 12v turbine from B- creations. I've ordered the marsrock 3000w 1500wind 1500w solar hybrid mppt controller. I've ordered 2 100ah 12v batteries wiring them in parallel. Do I need the battery balancer that comes with the mppt controller ? Will this mars rock mppt controller work with this great turbine?
Not really, usually when you get the 3rd wheel involved (3rd battery or more) then balancers make sense. The controller will do well, set divert/stop charge for LiFePO4 to 14.20 and your BMS won't top charge shut off on you and will maintain 97% full without over charging. Only put a max of 70% of the solar it allows, and then the turbine will be not in competition and will run nice.

Hi, can you advice please? I have same turbine ( I believe so) I have managed to assembly it. I have 48 V version, when I connect to my battery, controller stops to flash red which indiciate that is producing some energy i guess. I also measured that it makes only 30 volts instead 48 or better 50-52. Can you please advice what it could be wrong? Possibly leafs vice versa?
Blades should be proper if you followed instructions and markings. See if it is a B&C or GREEN ENERGY sold model. They make full charge + 8 voltage with winds over 12.5 mph and can reach basic charging at 9.5 mph. Testing only the wires without controller connected from the generator you should get open voltage of 60 to 70 volts on a 48 volt model when winds exceed 13 mph.
Numerous similar looking models are by Smaad and other bad sellers who spec much lower grade materials but same body and blades.

The small 500 up front with five blades is the highest producer, the 800 watt with the low wind style blades does well in the prop wash when on occasion they do line up.
How's it holding up another year down the line?

Check to see if tower is perfectly leveled, no tilt allowed. Second you apparently have whats called dirty wind, means obstructions of turbulence. So to solve that you can add 2" or 5 cm of additional tail section area to increase tracking.

It doesn't. Your wind turbine a choice needs to be a voltage output higher than the battery Bank you're going to use. A 12 volt wind turbine puts out of voltage higher than 12 volts, a 24 volt turbine would put out twice that.

Whats the location you plan to build in? Thats a important calculation. A Hybrid system is better for such low sun values.

Hi there, is there a chance to run these things directtly to the home electrics as it's AC? I've got Solar planned already and looking to use something like this for the base load of the house, which is about 150 Watts on average.

If you get a reverse grid tie inverter that is capable of use on a wind turbine you can back feed into your current electrical system. Do some research on it.
