I’m a Ghanaian living in Ghana and the recharge card bit shocks me too lol. If you bought MTN, thing is MTN DOES NOT sell recharge cards. They rather do transfers where the vendor will send you the airtime electronically and I think you get 1% less the amount you bought. If you want the full amount, you’d have to add that 1% amount to it OR you can just buy from Mobile Money account where you get how much you actually buy and then 100% bonus. The whole idea is to encourage customers to use the Mobile Money service. The other telcos all have actual recharge cards where you get what you actually buy.
We use generators tho but in business areas and industrial area they use electricity plants and generators that do not produce sound in order not to disturb workers.....
😂 you've been duped by the airtime seller. It's not normal. Since I left Nigeria to Ghana, I only saw generators in banks, filling station and super markets. Stady light around the whole country especially in the northern part, it's awesome.
Actually about the recharge card you didn't buy a recharge card but you did a credit transfer and with that the vendor get 10% hence the reduction from 20ghc to 18ghc from the amount you perchance and you get 100% bonus on it to call other mtn users and it peculiar to mtn users
Your accent is so Ghanaian. In fact you look so Ghanaian. Tell your husband you want to settle there. Actually Nigerian music is very close to that of Ghana. Highlife music from Eastern Nigeria are almost identical.Rex Jim lawson in particular. Remember, Fêla Ransome Kuti came to study Afro music in Ghana during the 70s. Nigerians have the impression that Ghana is very small so distances are close but it is not the case. Yes, Accra is very hot but if you went to Aburi and the eastern région, it is quite cool. Yeah, someone mentioned this. That’s really unique & awesome. I stayed in Accra mostly & I now understand why the heat was the way it was. Thanks so much for explaining. ♥️
Ghana is generally warmer than Nigeria, and we buy and drink coconuts by the roadside. Also a number hotels, some international schools and real estates charge in dollars.
When there is an outage in Ghana they will tell the people living in the area by announcing it on the radio. They usually shut down during the day for a few hours to service or upgrade the substations. For example they are always expanding power capacity due to population growth so they may shut down to upgrade or extend to the next district or town or improve output.
The dollar issue. Due to the open and flexible exchange rate policy, the cedi dollar rates keep changing in a day or all the time. Hoteliers dont want to keep changing rates according to the fluctuations of the day all the time. So they prefer to price in dollars for stability yet you pay in local currency at the rate available the time you are making payment. It is illegal though
With the airtime billing, you could have simply bought it with your phone using short codes (you get exactly what you requested). However, when you buy the airtime from vendors, they deduct their commission for the service they rendered to you. Physical MTN recharge cards are not available in recent years, so on the phone or via a MOMO vendor is plausible.
The mtn recharge charge was correct because you did it by a vendor. Some or almost all providers have stopped selling recharge cards. Almost everyone has mobile money on their phone so you buy your phone credit using your momo ( mobile money). If you however buy the credit from any of the mtn or the provider's office then you don't pay for any surcharges.
