I met Jerry Mathers 2 years ago in Concord CA, at a 1 day Comicon event. Very nice man, and was very happy to meet him, and get me, and my wife and daughter taken a picture with him. Not much of a talker, but very polite, and was a pleasure to meet him in person.
For a while Jerry was hanging around Memphis going to our city's hockey games. He'd drive the zamboni machine and reglaze the ice during halftime. A lot of people were too young to really know who Mather's was, but for us who grew up watching Leave it to Beaver, it was like family and we loved it. He was a great guy, and it was cool to see him having such a good time, but I still remember how surreal it seemed to me.
Not only is John Astin the last surviving cast member from "The Addams Family", he is also the last surviving male Villain from "Batman", having played The Riddler in 2 episodes that Frank Gorshin did not play the part.
Tina Louise from "Gilligan's Island" and John Astin from "The Addams Family" have managed to keep the spirit of their shows alive for new generations of fans.
Demond Wilson was also on The New Odd Couple as Oscar Madison in 1982.Also there was Michael McKean who's the only surviving main cast member of Laverne and Shirley. He played Lenny.
Not only is Dolenz both a last surviving original member of a group and series, he's the last surviving member of two series (The Monkees and a older series called Circus Boy).
John Astin WAS Gomez. All of the ones that follow up in the movies and worse.. Wednesday... Not even in the same class... I think the show flops without him.

Man, I'd have given anything to have gotten to go to Hawaii and visit Hale's restaurant. I'm never ashamed to tell people that my favorite show growing up as a kid was Gilligan's Island, and the show never fails to make me laugh when I'm feeling down. When I was fishing in Alaska, I discovered that Russell Johnson lived on an Island close by and was involved in theater in the Seattle area. Have two autographed pictures of him that I will always treasure.
Love John Astin pulling a lite cigar out of his pocket. Read somewhere he had an asbestos lined pocket in his coat but was burned a few times despite this. Love him in everything he's done. Keep on keep'n on man. You are loved.
Erin Murphy who played Tabitha is the last surviving cast member of Bewitched. She just turned 60 and you could not tell! Her twin sister (not identical) is still with us. Also, her tv brother, Adam Stevens, were also played by twins. They are rumoured to be Tony Curtis' illegitimate (is that still the term?) sons. Erin has a huge following on social media.
Twins Greg and David Lawrence shared the role of little Adam Stephens on Bewitched. Their biological father was actor Tony Curtis, who wanted nothing to do with them.
Three's Company, Richard Kline/Priscilla Barnes/Jenilee Harrison are still alive. Should include I Dream of Jeanie, Barbara Eden only cast member still alive.

Also, Jethro was the nephew of Jed Clampett, not a cousin! It is always difficult to believe statements from these types of videos when even a few of the facts are incorrect or omitted.
The irony is most members of The Addams Family cast died young. The show ended in 1966, but after the death of Jackie Coogan in 1984, John Astin was the only surviving adult cast member. Felix Silla was alive, but he wasn’t a main cast member.
Dick Van Dyke is the only adult regular member left from his show. Larry Mathews is still alive, but he can't be considered a regular, he wasn't in every episode.

I recall watching repeats of Steptoe and Son as a kid growing up in the 80s. It would be a few decades later that I would come across Stanford and Son which you could tell right away was based on the British series. The distinct cultural differences, however, allows each series to stand on it own.

John Astin appeared in the largely forgotten 1970s film _The Brothers O'Toole._ He delivers the finest over-the-top rant in the history of film westerns in the "belching, spitting, and cussin' contest" scene. The film is a little rough around the edges, but Astin as two characters (a desperate outlaw and a suave con man) in a strong cast of character actors gave fine performances. "...benighted in the Middle of a Nowhere called Molly-Be-Damn..."
The only thing that ticked me off was he never got even to first base, Beverly Hills to boot, give me a break. Then it was amusing to see him down a box of cereal at one sitting.
Regarding who was related to whom on the Beverly Hillbillies, it was my understanding that Jed and Jethro's mother Pearl were first cousins, NOT siblings, making Jed and Jethro first cousins once removed, not actually uncle and nephew. Jethro may have thought of Jed as more of an "uncle" then a cousin because of their age difference and relationship. And let's not forget that Jed calls his mother-in-law "Granny".

It amazes me how these classic shows that were so popular rose to fame, were at the top of their game, went through declining ratings and were cancelled all within 3 years. Time seemed slower in those days.
In Threes Company, you forgot about Richard Kline as Larry, Don Knotts as Mr. Fully and Jenny Lee Harris as Cindy Snow as well as the actor who played Chrissy's father who guest starred on many epidodes.
When you were talking about some of John Astins post AF work, I found interesting that you didn't mention McMillan and Wife. One episode he was in also guest starred Jackie Coogan. (They didn't have any scenes together.)

Gone but not forgotten
I was born on 11/11/1951 I'm 72 and grew up with Level It to Beaver one of many shows from that time.
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
Jethro Bodine was the nephew of Jed Clampett, not cousin. That's why he called him Uncle Jed.
The only thing that ticked me off was he never got even to first base, Beverly Hills to boot, give me a break. Then it was amusing to see him down a box of cereal at one sitting.
Regarding who was related to whom on the Beverly Hillbillies, it was my understanding that
Jed and Jethro's mother Pearl were first cousins, NOT siblings, making Jed and Jethro first cousins once removed, not actually uncle and nephew.
Jethro may have thought of Jed as more of an "uncle" then a cousin because of their age difference and relationship.
And let's not forget that Jed calls his mother-in-law "Granny".
@@radicalross7700 Pearl Bodine was Jed Clampett's late wife's sister, so a sister-in-law. Elly Mae's mother is Jed's late wife. Jethro and Elly Mae are cousins.
@@philcarbone3996 If Pearl Bodine was Jed's sister-in-law, then, like Jed's late wife, she would also be Granny's daughter. She wasn't. It's clear to anyone that they weren't mother and daughter (Granny once knocked Pearl unconscious with a skillet. Deliberately.)
Anyway, I checked. Pearl and Jed were first cousins . I could find nothing that indicates otherwise. If you have, please tell me where it can be found.
@@radicalross7700 So why would Jethro call Jed uncle? When Mr. Drysdale gave Jethro a job at Commerce Bank, he is referred to as Jed Clampett's nephew. So Granny hits Pearl with a skillet. That proves nothing. Jed's late wife is the key to the family. The presenter makes numerous mistakes. On another video he said Red Skelton was in the cast of Cheers.
Three's company, you missed Mr. Furley played by Don Knotts.

@@FactsVerse I have a few shows that no one reacts to. There is someone reacting to The Mentalist. But no one is doing Cupid or Vengeance Unlimited. But The Pretender was also great. The first 2 only have a few episodes but the last one has multiple seasons and a movie or two.

Incorrect. Elinor Donahue is still alive.
There are more cast members alive in Three's Company, Joyce DeWitt isn't the last surviving cast member. Richard Kline, Priscilla Barnes, and Jenilee Harrison are all still alive, and they were all regulars. And as for Diff'rent Strokes, Mary Jo Catlett, who joined the cast later, is still alive. Danny Cooksey is also still alive.

It amazes me how these classic shows that were so popular rose to fame, were at the top of their game, went through declining ratings and were cancelled all within 3 years. Time seemed slower in those days.
Joyce Dewitt was on Disney’s Even Stevens. Marla Gibbs is the only surviving member of the major cast of The Jefferson’s.
From the Jeffersons, Berlinda Tolbert (Jenny) is still living also.

You forgot the Monkees. Mickey Dolenz is the only surviving main cast member.
Of the two girls on Three's company, Janet was always my favorite.
The Monkees is another show from the sixties where only one cast member remains, Micky Dolenz.

In Threes Company, you forgot about Richard Kline as Larry, Don Knotts as Mr. Fully and Jenny Lee Harris as Cindy Snow as well as the actor who played Chrissy's father who guest starred on many epidodes.

When you were talking about some of John Astins post AF work, I found interesting that you didn't mention McMillan and Wife.
One episode he was in also guest starred Jackie Coogan. (They didn't have any scenes together.)

Joey Lawrence is still alive in his 50s Different Strokes Conrad Baines died at 89 and Charlette Rae died 94 Atletla died 94
The Hillbillies Gould have included Miss Jane especially with Jethro
Demond Wilson and Ron Glass did a tv show called The New Odd Couple
John Astin also played The Riddler on the 60s Batman for one season & Great Grandpapa Addams on The New Adams Family
