I have been a soapmaker for 40+ years (I’m now 70). I made the decision to take down my website and my Etsy store at the start of this year. I will continue making all my products, because I LOVE making my own quality homemade products. Like you, most of what I make now is either sold in some local shops near my hometown, or given away to those that can’t afford artisan product purchases. I reap more joy from their reactions and smiling faces. I love your channel! Now I watch to glean some tidbits of new information and to take advantage of your wonderful teaching methods and free recipes. THANK YOU! I pray the Lord richly blesses your family in 2025. Hi Ellen, My name is Dawn, I have been watching your video’s since close to the beginning. My Mom taught me to make soap in 2010. It of course morphed into bath bombs, lip balms, body butters, body lotions, tooth paste/powder, sugar scrubs, shower steamers and body oil. I sell my products in a consignment booth in Iowa where my two daughters and their families live. I actually live in the hills of rural Wisconsin. I’m so sorry to hear about your brother. I remember you talking a little bit about your husband. Thank you to him and your family for your service to our country. Much and great respect. I am a nurse by trade but we built a business in 2018 and so I haven’t actively worked as a nurse since then. I also am 58 years old. I truly enjoy your content and greatly appreciate your tips and suggestions. I love getting new ideas for different soap designs. My goals for 2025 is to live as healthy as possible with clean eating, using clean products ( as toxic free as possible) being as sustainable as I can be. I love to garden and can and preserve our own food. I have 35 chickens. Where we live we have a large Amish community around us. In Canada where I live, a bar of tallow soap is $26. That seemed high to me so I decided to try making it instead. You made it so easy and beautiful. My soap worked and now all my friends have been receiving a lot of soap. So sorry for your loss. Sounds like you have been through a lot this past year. You & your husband are in my thoughts and prayers. My husband had a massive stroke a couple of years ago and is now on at home hospice. Because I now spend so much time at home, I started learning to make soap & and now, a year into it, I have started a small business to help supplement income. I want to thank you for all you share. Maybe you should write a book of recipes that way you will continue to make your supporters happy and make some $$$ too. Just try and make it affordable for us all. I’m a retired soap business owner but I still make soap for some neighbors, family and close friends. It was a small business that I did with my hubby but after he passed from cancer, it didn’t seem productive after that, but now it gives me something to do. I make soap now cut it into 1/2 inch sizes and wrap label and hand out for delivery drivers and repair workers that help me out. I donate a lot too. Some of my old customers will order and just pay for ingredients. I still make my own shampoo, lotion, chap lip sticks, laundry soap and deodorants. Nice thing is I get to add any fragrance I like. Your videos and a couple of other RUclipsrs have gotten me through 2024! My mom has been sick and my best friend's mother has been battling cancer now for a little over 5 years and she is running out of options. Been going back and forth to the doctor's appointments and procedures. I have watched every single one of your videos over and over again during treatments and procedures. My sons have been watching you since they were little. They are 11 and 8. My 8-year-old loves to watch you smack your soap with your stamper. My 11-year-old has been inspired by you for the past 2 years for his science fair projects. We have made soap two years in a row and this year his teacher said he has to do something different so he said he wants to make some lotion using your receipe (giving you full credit of course) and explain the process and handing out little samples.

Ellen, you have just shared so many recipes with us....keep that core recipe in case one of your grands want to start soaping. You NEVER KNOW. LOL. I got most all of my lard soap recipes from my great granny's recipe book. Yes, I had to update some things but, it's still my special little thing between me and granny. I'll pass it on to my only son so, maybe one day his kids will take an interest in me and soaping. But, in the end, it is up to you. I'll put you and your hubby on my prayer list and I hope he sees a new year of healing and good health for the coming years. I love to hear about you and I love to watch you soap. You make it look easy when I know it isn't. My whole table looks like a bomb hit it when I soap. LOL. I've used a few of your recipes and they were wonderful.....I think it was for making whipped soap base and a real honey soap and a Spearmint and Eucalyptus soap. All were loved by my family and friends and me. I'm still quite new to soaping so, I haven't figured out how to make a recipe or the water lye ratios. I'm chicken I suppose. I want to learn to master batch and am studying how online soapers do so. I wish we had local classes but, small town living here. That being said, your videos are my go to for learning. I just recently found you and I am in awe of they way you teach and share your recipes I never see that on other videos but you are so generous with what you do I am not a numbers person so it is hard for me to understand the calculated for soaping so I depend on people like you to help me either understand how to use it or by sharing your recipes with me and I am so appreciative of it thank you so much for your work I am 59 soon to be 60 and I have just fallen in love with soap making but riding kind of blind until I found your channel so a high thank you you have no idea what it means to me
My husband also served in the Marine Corp and was in the Vietnam war. He suffered a heart attack 3 years ago from being exposed to agent orange while in Vietnam. Thankfully the doctors were able to do 2 stents and not have to do open heart surgery. It was a very scary time so I can relate to your year. It changes us forever. It’s always in the back of my mind. I just have faith that God is with us. My husband is doing well now and I’m so thankful. I am thankful your husband is doing well and I will keep him and you as well in my prayers. It’s very difficult on the spouse. I have followed you for a long time and I get so many ideas from you. I’ve been making soap for about 20 years and it’s mostly for gifts and holidays. I don’t sell it. I did for a short time years ago but I quickly learned it was a lot of work and trouble so I decided to just bless friends and family by giving it. I love your channel! I’ve not been a subscriber long. This is the first video I’ve seen where you share about your life. I’m so sorry about your loss of your brother and about your husband’s struggles. Even through talking about that, you’re still positive and encouraging. I now make my own soap, albeit very basic. I’ve been watching your last videos and I’m trying to decide what extras to buy to add in such as clay, oats, etc. I’d love to see some low out of pocket cost soap videos. You may already have a video like this for beginners and I’ve not seen it yet. With you being this great at soap making, I bet you’re just as creative in the kitchen or in the craft room. I found your videos about 6-8 months ago. When i feel down and depressed about my kidney disease i put on your videos. When i first found your videos i was like no way i could do that. The more i watched you i got the confidence to try. I have enjoyed it immensely and it helps with my depression. So thank tou for saving me. I was close to giving up with the depression and PTSD i was close to being one of the 22 a day. So again thank you. To your husband from one Marine to another Semper Fi. I forgot to say that you have inspired me to start making my own soaps. Until this video I have never thought of myself as a formulator because I followed other peoples recipes. But you have given me the confidence in the last six months to be able to think about formulating my own recipes. I believe that you have inspired more people than you know so please keep up the good work. In 2025 I would like to see you make more inspirational soaps, and maybe some salt or sugar scrubs? I have been a soapmaker for 40+ years (I’m now 70). I made the decision to take down my website and my Etsy store at the start of this year. I will continue making all my products, because I LOVE making my own quality homemade products. Like you, most of what I make now is either sold in some local shops near my hometown, or given away to those that can’t afford artisan product purchases. I reap more joy from their reactions and smiling faces. I love your channel! I found you just recently in December, I had a big soapmaking business for over 12 years and I just got burnt out and I didn’t wanna do it anymore. Hi Ellen, My name is Dawn, I have been watching your video’s since close to the beginning. My Mom taught me to make soap in 2010. It of course morphed into bath bombs, lip balms, body butters, body lotions, tooth paste/powder, sugar scrubs, shower steamers and body oil. I sell my products in a consignment booth in Iowa where my two daughters and their families live. I actually live in the hills of rural Wisconsin. I’m so sorry to hear about your brother. I remember you talking a little bit about your husband. Thank you to him and your family for your service to our country. Much and great respect. I am a nurse by trade but we built a business in 2018 and so I haven’t actively worked as a nurse since then. I also am 58 years old. I truly enjoy your content and greatly appreciate your tips and suggestions. I love getting new ideas for different soap designs. My goals for 2025 is to live as healthy as possible with clean eating, using clean products ( as toxic free as possible) being as sustainable as I can be. I love to garden and can and preserve our own food. I have 35 chickens. Where we live we have a large Amish community around us. I found your channel about a month and a half ago while looking for a tallow soap recipe for my daughter who developed eczema while away at school. In Canada where I live, a bar of tallow soap is $26. That seemed high to me so I decided to try making it instead. You made it so easy and beautiful. My soap worked and now all my friends have been receiving a lot of soap. My husband had a massive stroke a couple of years ago and is now on at home hospice. Because I now spend so much time at home, I started learning to make soap & and now, a year into it, I have started a small business to help supplement income. I want to thank you for all you share. Maybe you should write a book of recipes that way you will continue to make your supporters happy and make some $$$ too. Just try and make it affordable for us all. I’m a retired soap business owner but I still make soap for some neighbors, family and close friends. It was a small business that I did with my hubby but after he passed from cancer, it didn’t seem productive after that, but now it gives me something to do. I make soap now cut it into 1/2 inch sizes and wrap label and hand out for delivery drivers and repair workers that help me out. I donate a lot too. Some of my old customers will order and just pay for ingredients. I still make my own shampoo, lotion, chap lip sticks, laundry soap and deodorants. Nice thing is I get to add any fragrance I like. Good luck on your new adventures.

Your videos and a couple of other RUclipsrs have gotten me through 2024! My mom has been sick and my best friend's mother has been battling cancer now for a little over 5 years and she is running out of options. Been going back and forth to the doctor's appointments and procedures. I have watched every single one of your videos over and over again during treatments and procedures. My sons have been watching you since they were little. They are 11 and 8. My 8-year-old loves to watch you smack your soap with your stamper. My 11-year-old has been inspired by you for the past 2 years for his science fair projects. We have made soap two years in a row and this year his teacher said he has to do something different so he said he wants to make some lotion using your receipe (giving you full credit of course) and explain the process and handing out little samples.

Ellen, you have just shared so many recipes with us....keep that core recipe in case one of your grands want to start soaping. You NEVER KNOW. LOL. I got most all of my lard soap recipes from my great granny's recipe book. Yes, I had to update some things but, it's still my special little thing between me and granny. I'll pass it on to my only son so, maybe one day his kids will take an interest in me and soaping. But, in the end, it is up to you. I'll put you and your hubby on my prayer list and I hope he sees a new year of healing and good health for the coming years. I love to hear about you and I love to watch you soap. You make it look easy when I know it isn't. My whole table looks like a bomb hit it when I soap. LOL. I've used a few of your recipes and they were wonderful.....I think it was for making whipped soap base and a real honey soap and a Spearmint and Eucalyptus soap. All were loved by my family and friends and me. I'm still quite new to soaping so, I haven't figured out how to make a recipe or the water lye ratios. I'm chicken I suppose. I want to learn to master batch and am studying how online soapers do so. I wish we had local classes but, small town living here. That being said, your videos are my go to for learning. My heart goes out to you with the loss of your amazing brother. I lost my father last year and my mother found 15 year old soap that I made, still wrapped. The smell had gone from one but you could still smell the patchouli in the other. They both lathered great. Xxx Much love to you. X

I just recently found you and I am in awe of they way you teach and share your recipes I never see that on other videos but you are so generous with what you do I am not a numbers person so it is hard for me to understand the calculated for soaping so I depend on people like you to help me either understand how to use it or by sharing your recipes with me and I am so appreciative of it thank you so much for your work I am 59 soon to be 60 and I have just fallen in love with soap making but riding kind of blind until I found your channel so a high thank you you have no idea what it means to me

My husband also served in the Marine Corp and was in the Vietnam war. He suffered a heart attack 3 years ago from being exposed to agent orange while in Vietnam. Thankfully the doctors were able to do 2 stents and not have to do open heart surgery. It was a very scary time so I can relate to your year. It changes us forever. It’s always in the back of my mind. I just have faith that God is with us. My husband is doing well now and I’m so thankful. I am thankful your husband is doing well and I will keep him and you as well in my prayers. It’s very difficult on the spouse. I have followed you for a long time and I get so many ideas from you. I’ve been making soap for about 20 years and it’s mostly for gifts and holidays. I don’t sell it. I did for a short time years ago but I quickly learned it was a lot of work and trouble so I decided to just bless friends and family by giving it.

I love your channel! I’ve not been a subscriber long. This is the first video I’ve seen where you share about your life. I’m so sorry about your loss of your brother and about your husband’s struggles. Even through talking about that, you’re still positive and encouraging. I now make my own soap, albeit very basic. I’ve been watching your last videos and I’m trying to decide what extras to buy to add in such as clay, oats, etc. I’d love to see some low out of pocket cost soap videos. You may already have a video like this for beginners and I’ve not seen it yet. With you being this great at soap making, I bet you’re just as creative in the kitchen or in the craft room. I’d love to see some crafting and cooking videos too if that’s not too big of a stretch for a soap making channel. You’re just delightful ❤

I found your videos about 6-8 months ago. When i feel down and depressed about my kidney disease i put on your videos. When i first found your videos i was like no way i could do that. The more i watched you i got the confidence to try. I have enjoyed it immensely and it helps with my depression. So thank tou for saving me. I was close to giving up with the depression and PTSD i was close to being one of the 22 a day. So again thank you. To your husband from one Marine to another Semper Fi. As with all Marines we adjust, over come, and adapt. I will alway keep him and your whole family in my prayers. Againg thank you for your videos.

I love formulating my own recipes. Then I can share them with my daughter and my niece. My brother loves my soaps.
I forgot to say that you have inspired me to start making my own soaps. Until this video I have never thought of myself as a formulator because I followed other peoples recipes. But you have given me the confidence in the last six months to be able to think about formulating my own recipes. I believe that you have inspired more people than you know so please keep up the good work.
In 2025 I would like to see you make more inspirational soaps, and maybe some salt or sugar scrubs? I don’t know. It really doesn’t matter because watching your channel isn’t just watching you make soap. It truly does put a smile on my face to just hear you and how bubbly you are. 2024 was a bit of a tough year on a personal level for me too, but I've walked into this new year with a better more positive mindset (yes, thanks to Mel Robbins) and am really looking forward to doing some markets this year and really taking the small steps to be able to continue to grow my business and be content with where I am at and where I want to go with this. I came into soapmaking a little late in the game, and wish that I'd had the opportunity to dive in much sooner, but it's always better late than never!
