you forgot afternoon tea time too haha :) i'm so glad to have 4 wks paid leave, 10 days paid sick leave and 7 days paid covid leave.. and 6 mths paid maternity leave, 3 days paid tangi (funeral ) leave when any close relative dies. Its kindness and kiwis would not put up with no leave!
NZ Good - sitting is the new smoking. Health guidelines recommend 3 - 5 minutes non-sitting break every 30 minutes (a short walk) and at least a 15 minute break mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Sitting is now recognised as having many negative health outcomes including an additional risk factor for heart disease. ACC will not be pleased if you do not take breaks and your Health and Safety officer should be insisting on them. In general, too many New Zealanders do not take enough breaks. This is often due to bosses not recognising the positive benefits of break-taking. Also, frequent break taking does not appear to negatively affect overall productivity.
Amazing amazing video sharing dear friend 😊 It's great 👌👌👌 Thanks for sharing this with us giving another a big Big like thumbs up 👍👍👍 See you again on next video 📸❤️ Luiz here again 🤗🎸🎸 Keep intouch 👍❤️
At my work It's not uncommon for people to have a 4,5 or 6 week holiday, especially when going on overseas trip. And it's all good to leave early or star late for doctors appointment etc..
Americans falsely equate looking busy and time at desk with productivity. In reality, productivity is highest in short bursts. Most people would get far more done in a shorter work day woth more breaks.
As an American that dreams of living in beautiful NZ, but not sure how to go about it...this stings. lol. American corporate culture is so soul crushing.
You can do it buddy we would love to have ya..as they say if you fail to plan your planing to fail so do your due diligence & ask people that have been there and done it..good luck and make your dreams come true..remember you will always find speed bumps but that’s all they are 😃
I’m from Costa Rica and we work Monday to Friday from 8 - 5:30.. and holidays 2 times a year sometimes… asking for permission at work to miss a day is a mission. I have been in New Zealand for 7 years and if I want to go to work every day it is up to me. or if I want more holidays , I just say I'll be back in 2 or 3 months 😂
Holidays... Use it or lose it in other words they want you to take it when staffing is good 😏 Xmas you book that time or they might not let you so book it early or swap with someone
Yup . I went for a job in the States where they were super excited about the fact we would have 2 weeks a year off paid leave. I'm like you know in NZ it's a minimum of 4 right? Currently I'm on 5. So I'm losing 3 weeks..
5.30pm is working late, its 7.5 hours now including an hour for Lunch. The 5 week Christmas Shutdown does get a little boring surfing is a hobby, camping can be overrated, unless you have a boat & can go fishing, picnic on some remote beaches etc. It helps to have a plus 1 to entertain, if you have not populated? Work breaks can include two hour lunch outings for team building!
I don't know what jobs you have here in NZ but my husband and hardly ever gets any time odd. For example he finished up his last contract and was owed 4cweejs leave.
I don't think I ever worked in an office job in NZ where the work culture was OK with my starting at 09:00. I used to get a lot of calendar bookings for team meetings at 08:00 sharp. Everything else seems accurate.
That's normal, it's a legal requirement, a minimum of half hour and 2 15 minute breaks for an 8 hour day, and an employee is required to take a minimum of 4 weeks paid leave per year. Workers have so many more rights than in the US.
Yup, my manager asked me to use some of mine up. It's because it counts as a liability on the accounts. If you leave and have lots it's a big expense that has to get paid out.
It is a health and safety thing (physical and mental) plus companies have to pay you out any leave that is owing to you if you leave the company or if they go under, and the 10am morning break, that's for the Hobbits to have their second breakfast
I’m actually planing to leave NZfor my American dream, but with all the cons, nah, I prefer family and work balance. Besides, in terms of family emergency, I could never do that in the states.
You forgot the example of showing up for work ill and having your manager tell you to go home and take sick leave. (you have 10 days sick leave a year after all...)
Healthcare sector is one of the best in NZ.....My friend's friend recently got a job in New Zealand as a Healthcare assistant.....He said the work life balance in NZ is one of the very best in the world....he was working in India before NZ.
@@Johnnie999 Yes but the pay is absolutely crappy!! Too many foreign people working in N.Z.' s health system already..... Not always the most "energetic of workers" from first hand experience T.B.H. .....
There are more important things than work. The health of your workers, family, freshness.. America has loads of things wrong with it & this is just another one.
Apart from missing afternoon tea, there is a smoke break once per hour (I don't smoke) . It's law. I guess this is why government are working towards a smoke free environment and or no government wants to pay for your self-imposed illness.
😂 Are Americans that much overworked and are New Zealanders this much lazy?… I am sure these are exaggerations and the truth is somewhere in the middle!
@@Anumin8 no the country they came from the Uk a whinging Pom is someone colloquially who comes from England to either NZ or Australia and whinges about how much better things are in the UK. lol True for NZ but you forgot the afternoon break too.
Damn straight, got to have morning and afternoon smoko, lol.
They also forgot lunch break snack break and sometimes pre meeting break
Smoko time❤
Some chew all day, take the 3 breaks, and accidentally stick their chewing gum in the most inconvenient places.

Jesus, why didn't i ever use my sick leave 🤦🏻♂️😭😂
What.You only got one relative.
We also get 10days study days if upskilling, 3 days for wellbeing.
So true 😂😂😂😂
And at my work you also get your birthday off paid
Lol... very true! I'm here in Denver Colorado and my kids lives in NZ they are always on vacation.
Heck just go to France if you want to see people on break all the time LOL
Yeah, that 10:00 am and 3:00 pm tea time with refreshments provided was pretty cool!
My work shuts for Four weeks over Xmas. Always plan to buy some snacks for a staff get together. Mellowpuffs always go quickly.

Try East Asian workplaces, they make American ones look chill by comparison
Don't forget afternoon tea. But as am early childhood teacher I need the breaks and the holidays are difficult because of short staff
Lol soo true but what about the afternoon tea and sometimes we call morning tea/smoko so yeah I’m a true New Zealander because I am a Kiwi😂

😂😂only take time off when you clock up on Annual leave
😂😂😂we love the breaks lots of breaks
Quiet quitting here and just doing what the job requires would make you the bosses favorite 😂
New Zealand is the place for me, it sounds great 😊
Don't forgot the 2-4 weeks a lot of businesses are closed over the Christmas, New Years period.
😂 you are the best ever 😅 you should see how I compare working situations here in Mauritius with Switzerland 😊
Lots of parents take time off during school holidays so book it in!!
Absolutley. And afternoon tea tok. And I've lost count the number of times I've been reminded to take some holidays. Please use them up soon.
Holidays... Use it or lose it in other words they want you to take it when staffing is good 😏 Xmas you book that time or they might not let you so book it early or swap with someone
Thats really how it is in america though. No days off ever. For any reason. And you better not get sick. Theyll fire you for it.
Thanks for the confirmation... sad but true
And you'll go bankrupt from the medical bills
You’re not wrong. It’s ridiculous

Nice, but as a NZer I've always had work places where you started at 8 or 8.30 before taking a break at 10ish, the rest though, yes I can relate :)
Where do u work that start times 9? Yal do 9 to 5 we do 630 ro 630 ..😂
We started at 7 or 7:30am. The 10am break was so welcomed.
Yeah, from 9's not much of a need for the 10 o'clock one lol.

I think soo too:)
Yes if you don’t take your annual leave you employers can force you to take a holiday, so you don’t accrue too much.

I work as a restaurant cook. I wonder if kitchen culture is different in New Zealand than it is in California.
Oh man it has to be totally different

A FREE 50 min class on how to get started.
Lol yeah in NZ they force you to take your paid leave
Yes, very true. My son was made to take his leave by his employers and his wife. More than once.
I see you like that concept. Lol
So true for the USA
Hey can anyone from NZ please tell can a shy girl from South Asian country survive there?
Of course you will survive 😅😅😅 . But first you must like the All blacks. 😅😅
yr perfect!!… youve found yr niche-
Thanks
Ah yes, NZ the pinnacle of hard work and innovation.
NZ productivity rates in top quarter of OECD rates.
Moving to New Zealand 🇳🇿 😂
Awesome! I am here to help
New Zealand job fine it’s a piece of cake
Too many smoko breaks for me !! I prefer to get the job done then the break
It does depend what type of job you're doing. If you start at 6am, by 10:30am you do need a toilet & drink break.
Apart from missing afternoon tea, there is a smoke break once per hour (I don't smoke) . It's law. I guess this is why government are working towards a smoke free environment and or no government wants to pay for your self-imposed illness.
G’day mate
Haha
Yet NZ still hets the job done.
Well NZ is the Shire they have 1st breakfast and 2nd breakfast 🤣
..and they wear no shoes and smoke a lot of weed.😂
😂 Are Americans that much overworked and are New Zealanders this much lazy?… I am sure these are exaggerations and the truth is somewhere in the middle!
😁😁😁😁😆😆
Smoko
hahaha
Aotearoa = Work to live not live to work
Lol 😂😂😂
Working in the US sounds better... It's rediculous how we give away breaks just for turning up for 2 hours
👋 Bon Voyage
Breaks mean you're going to focus better and be healthier.
Move to the US then and good luck with it. You're not going to like it bcoz NZ just like Australia have it too good.
Quality of life is very poor in USA from my experience. Like your trapped inside A box with compromised communications.
CRACK UP. TRUE STORY . . . YOU ARE OBLIGATED TO TAKE YOUR HOLIDAYS. ONLY IN NZ
And the yanks call it the land of the free

so........apples and oranges?
