    this is actually the best factual review I have seen on the Apple Vision Pro - I have learned more about the product from this one video than I have from any other Vision Pro video on yt rn. Keep up the great work man!

    It is a neat device and even though I am an Apple fan, the product did not impress me when I did a few demos. The vertical field of view is atrocious and the headset is significantly more uncomfortable than my Quest. Interesting product, but with way too many setbacks for its price range. Hope to get one in future generations.

  • @thatsmejosey
    @thatsmejosey 3 месяца назад +4

    agreed with what you said, the price does cover the brand new chips, so i guess you could say the price is justified

      Justified? 3500$ ? Is justified to have better productivity? More screens? Lmao 4k lenses no games to play in vr? Pass through is decent from what I seen but make what u said make sense 3500$ for this headset is absolute bullshit

    I do own the vp. purchased it back on feb 2. And used it every chance I get. and every time I used it. I am amazed of the technology. Really really like this product .even if its heavy (for me its not) I try to do many tasks with it. The only thing I need its time to be on it ……

    • @mike
      @mike  3 месяца назад +1

      Couldn't agree with this more. It's great... but, you need to put the time aside to sit down with it, and sometimes, impractically tether yourself to a wall outlet, etc. Mix that with the outer-facing cameras not performing so well in non-natural light, it's challenging at times for me to keep this on "all-day" (I find myself not using it for more than 2-3 hours at a time.)
      As the size of the device shrinks over generations, coupled with if (and when) it becomes wireless... mark my words... this will replace the iPhone. I feel Apple wants it to; this was well-written about in an article years ago that, when I find again, will do a video touching on this subject in way more detail.

    Those who can't see what this technology means to the future... lack vision, *all puns intended*

    • @mike
      @mike  3 месяца назад +3

      Right! Thinking back to 2007; some of the best iPhone apps at the time were ones that let you fake-out drinking a beer by tilting it sideways, lol. There's a ton of stuff like this on the visionOS App Store right now more-or-less with the same dynamic (tacky concepts really just demoing capabilities) ... but just think about what this could be years from now based on how far the iPhone has come ... need that same energy from developers!

    My biggest con is the significant reflection/glare that I see when watching media in cinema / dark immersive environments. I don’t see any creators mentioning it but I’ve switched light seals and tried another demo unit at an Apple Store and I still see it. I wish someone had some feedback / tips for this. The workaround for me has been using lighter immersive environments but I want to use cinema and the Disney plus theatre environments.

    • @mike
      @mike  3 месяца назад +1

      I occasionally experience this-some are calling it the “pancake” reflection-however I don’t see it as consistently as others are, I suppose. Therefore it’s not something that came up organically when I was figuring out the parts I wanted to highlight, but yes agreed, probably shouldn’t have left it out as it is a problem that I hope is directly resolved in the next generation.

    • @whittsays
      @whittsays 3 месяца назад +1

      I’m wondering if it’s something that isn’t consistent across models and if a replacement would be helpful but it seems it may just be a flaw. Unfortunate. Thanks for the response.

    • @kmanmx
      @kmanmx 3 месяца назад +1

      @@whittsays This is an unavoidable optical aberration that is a side product of pancake lenses. All VR headsets with pancake lenses have glare caused by internal reflections to some degree, It's just pure physics and it will always exist In pancake designs.

    • @whittsays
      @whittsays 3 месяца назад +1

      @@kmanmx does the severity vary between headset? Meaning will one AVP have the same glare as another?

    As far as the keyboard goes, what if you position it in a way, where it’s right above a desk close enough to the surface where you can when you type your fingers will hit the table. Have you tried that and doesn’t work

    • @mike
      @mike  2 месяца назад

      Not practical sadly. You can’t quite “aim” the keyboard directly flat onto a surface-it will always be on an angle facing you. I tried many ways… even looking directly at the surface and moving my head in effort to readjust but no luck.
      I can see this being added in the future, perhaps with some haptic feedback from each keystroke where it ever-so-gently vibrates the headset. Feel like it will be very tactile then

    I'm in this group where I could afford if I wanted to, but I just don't see the value yet. I have three other VR headsets that aren't as nice and shiny, but all of them are more useful in my opinion, I just don't see the point in spending that much until there is a well developed eco-system that will allow it to be more functional. For now, it's not brining any new useful functionality to the table so I just can't see the point.

    Why are so many reviewers never mentioning users connect a real bluetooth keyboard and trackpad for navigation and input tools-out of the box? AVP can use 4 inputs, eye/pinch, Siri (voice), touch (virtual keyboard and touching the windows) and A REAL KEYBOARD AND TRACKPAD. The fact the reviewer can insert long B-roll footage while painfully pecking on the tiny virtual keyboard never mentioning the ability to use a Bluetooth real one for productivity makes the omission seem purposeful, NOT by accident. Why would a reviewer by design handicap one of the KEY features Apple touted heavily at the keynote-Productively? Only the reviewer knows why, but all the scripts are all too similar to be an accident. When they discuss the productivity section, they all immediately show the worst input…only, they don’t even mention using the dictation feature which is also faster than pecking.

    • @mike
      @mike  3 месяца назад +2

      Fair take. To be clear I really wanted to cover the all-new keyboard-sure, not putting emphasis on an input device we’ve had for many decades already-especially since so many outlets are bashing this virtual one. It’s not perfect but it’s not as bad as people are making it out to be. It’s nice that Apple included the external capability but, truth be told, in my 30-day experience so far, I haven’t connected Bluetooth inputs once yet.
      On the other hand, I have been occasionally using the Mac-mirroring feature (which I do at that point use my Magic Keyboard & Trackpad.) Luckily I intend to cover using Vision Pro with a Mac in a future production soon; I’ll also be sure to touch on the Bluetooth accessory capability separately. I do appreciate the comment though because despite trying to cover as much as I could here, I realize I left some things out.
      I’ll be back! ;)

      Thank you. I’ve read so many comments from people saying the AVP “wasn’t ready” to use as a work tool, especially because they did not own a MacBook. Viewers seem confused. Maybe RUclipsrs should show more examples using a keyboard for writing an email or their scripts instead of pecking at the search bar or responding to a text and more people would get it. You’re right to think discussing a decades old input to use on a 3D device seems counterintuitive until you realize many people believe the virtual keyboard is the ONLY way to work in text windows without a MacBook.
