Ok wow I forgot about scenes in the last part of this video that actually humanized Jan. I realize now that at this point in her life, she really was going through a really rough patch. Yes, she's still very flawed, but I think a lot of us have experienced hitting rock bottom at least once in our lives, and if you haven't... Well good for you, lol. I'm kinda disappointed that later they kept Jan as a psychopath, I feel like they could have really had some character development through these type of scenes
Yeah, and this scene give us the dimension of how bad was Jan's life... I always thought she was with Michael just for convenience, not because he was the only person in her life. But Jan was always a cuckoo lol She was fierce and powerful but she was also a difficult person to deal with... well, not difficult but it took some effort and experience to deal with her, things that Michael never had (and for him as time showed us, it wasn't worth it). Maybe that's why in the end she focus all of her affection and love in her child. This scene is great.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. Some people seem to think that Michael still had money problems when he proposed to Holly, calling her dumb for taking on his financial woes. Michael wasn't the best with his money, but Season 4 showed that Jan was blowing through Michael's credit cards, and made him trade in the Seabring for the Porsche that he couldn't afford. I believe after Michael moves on from Jan, he was wiser with his finances. Also, in Season 7 he got Holly an engagement ring that he told Jim, Oscar & Pam cost 3 years salary, so....
Knowing Michael, he maxxed out all his credit cards and took out a loan for the rest to cover the ring, possibly even taking out a second mortgage on his condo while trying to sell it. 😂
He might have helped maxing out the creditcards with Jan while buying the best of the muppets on DVD, professional bass fishing equipment, the core-blaster-extreme and multiple magic sets

Why is everyone praising Jan here? Sure, she’s raising him up but she’s the reason that he’s in this situation in the first place. She’s draining his bank account, blames him for their financial problems, and then proceeds to coerce him back to her when he even thinks about leaving her. This is not her highest moment, this is the early signs of a very unstable and unhealthy relationship.
