Hello~ I would like to apply for Korean studies in SNU as well but my major wasn’t Korean studies and during university I wasn’t able to get into the Korean free elective classes.. so in my university transcript there isn’t anything related to Korean. But I did study Korean by myself for a year and achieved topik 6. Also, I don’t have any Korean-related research thesis (this is the part of the application which I am most worried about). But I am HIGHLY passionate about teaching Korean in the future. What would you recommend to do (especially for the research part? I don’t have any research paper or thesis essentially) However, I do have related experiences in the National Taekwondo team and won many international awards and scholarships previously, do you think that would help?
if you are hoping to teach Korean,, I suggest that you go check out the major on teaching Korean as a foreign language! it is available in SNU as well!

Hi Jo, thank you for the very informative video! I have 2 questions: 1) For application through the embassy track, it is required to choose 3 universities. Hence for the study plan, did you include the modules you want to take for all 3 universities? 2) For submission, are you supposed to organise the forms such that all the 4 copies of form 1 are together, then 4 copies of form 2 etc., or original copies of all the forms, then the photocopied copies and then the letter or recommendations? (I hope you get what I mean) Thank you!

Hi! I have a question 🙈 I cannot take the TOPIK now because have been postponed but I took a Korean course level A1.2 with certificate. It is helpful?
You should still include it but do check with your Korean embassy!

Hii I love your videos, super informative! I do have some questions though. For Singapore undergraduates for this scholarship, is the competition high? And since we are Singaporean students, must we also take the English proficiency test?
It was rather high during my year because only 3 were chosen but I think the following year they chose 8! We don't need the English test!
@@JOCOPIE thank you so much! Hoping when I apply (in 4 years time), competition would not be too high.
Thank you for providing such informative video! I have a question. I will become an undergraduate on Fall 2022... Is there any KGSP/GKS opportunities for us entering on the fall? When would the applications open for us?? I have tried to get this information, but normally it says its for undergraduates arriving for the spring... I find this very weird since I've seen plenty North Americans, which most enter to college on the fall, win the scholarship... Hope you can help me clear up this doubt!
Nope! it is once a year!
@@JOCOPIE Oh okay... Thank you so much for replying!!
I want to apply through the embassy. Can you assist me with the application?

Hello~ I would like to apply for Korean studies in SNU as well but my major wasn’t Korean studies and during university I wasn’t able to get into the Korean free elective classes.. so in my university transcript there isn’t anything related to Korean. But I did study Korean by myself for a year and achieved topik 6. Also, I don’t have any Korean-related research thesis (this is the part of the application which I am most worried about). But I am HIGHLY passionate about teaching Korean in the future. What would you recommend to do (especially for the research part? I don’t have any research paper or thesis essentially)
However, I do have related experiences in the National Taekwondo team and won many international awards and scholarships previously, do you think that would help?
if you are hoping to teach Korean,, I suggest that you go check out the major on teaching Korean as a foreign language! it is available in SNU as well!
@@JOCOPIE yes yes I’m hoping to apply for this through the KGSP~ but I’m worried about not having much certification (on my bachelors) and no research papers when applying for the scholarship... what would you recommend me to do or would this affect my application for kgsp greatly?
@@charlene9308 you should still give it a go!! you never know!!! :)
Hi i would like to know that if i can apply scholarship with GED scores .
Hi can I know what the different between kgsp and gks?
Its the same!!
Hi Jo, thank you for the very informative video! I have 2 questions:
1) For application through the embassy track, it is required to choose 3 universities.
(I hope you get what I mean)
Thank you!
1) I did not! I just wrote general ones!
2) 4 different sets!
@@JOCOPIE Thank you so much Jo! Saw that you are sick and I hope you get better soon. 💕

Hello, can I ask if KGSP is available yearly? Because I would like to apply next year for master's in Dentistry. I look into it and only Seoul National University offers a program in english language. Any response or suggestion is highly appreciated. Thank you!
It is available every year! I am not sure if KGSP offers dentistry!
@@JOCOPIE Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it! Can you help me verify if dentistry is available? Because I saw dentistry at the list of available courses at SNU but not sure if it is the updated one. Or if you know any school offering training in dentistry. Thank you, more power to your channel! You really help a lot of people!
HII !! ..... So is it not a good option to get a KGSP scholarship if I want to work in a country other than South Korea????
It depends on what are your future goals!
Hello Mam! do they give preference for English literature, if you have passed in both TOPIK and ILETS exam? Even If you are fluent in korean, is it a protocol to learn korean language in the beginning of the year??
If you have topik 5 or 6, you dont have to do the language program!
Hi Jocopie! I took a gap year after high school and want to focus on my KGSP application. As you know due to covid there's no social activities I can participate in and I don't have any awards or certificates to brag about in my application form. So, I enrolled in free courses offered by WHO and UNICEF. Do you think the digital certificate I'll be given at the end of the courses will boost my application or I should be doing more? Also I'm thinking about participating in debate contest offered by IMUN. Do you think all these things sound good enough?
They sound good!!
Hello.I would like to apply for a program different from my major for majors. Is it possible?
hi i hope you can help answer my questions since i only found out about this scholarship program now and i'm really interested so i'm not sure if i'll be able to apply because of my situation. basically i'm going to start first year of university next month ( undergraduate ) and i'll finish first year in May of 2022. i aim to achieve excellent marks in university, however my marks in high school aren't good enough to apply for this scholarship as is. so my question is will i be able to apply for this gks scholarship with my first year university marks or will i not be able to since i've already started a undergraduate degree in my home country. awaiting your response, thank you :)
you cant if you started school! you will have to apply with high school grades!

Mine were a mixture! I had over 17 awards i believe!
Hello Jo, I just want to ask if it is okay to apply for GKS to pursue a 2nd Bachelor's Degree?
I don't think so! Only Masters for those who already have a Bachelor's!
guys can we have a job there in korea while studying gks? did you have any friends among students who worked and studied at the same (study at gks scholarship) ?
You need to ask for permission from the immigration with all the different documents and there are restrictions on how many hours you can work in a week!
Your videos are so helpful 👍
Thank you soo much!!! So glad it was of some help!!
Hey there!
I want to ask you that can I study psychology in Korea through kgsp (UG). Actually, I'm from the commerce stream so I am a little confused if I can pursue this field or not?
It would be a great help if you reply.
Thank you!
Yes you can apply!
I have a question, what if you already know how to speak in Korean before taking KGSP,do you still have to take the 1 year program?
How about the interview? Was it really hard? And is it a must to at least to speak basic Korean?
It is alright if you prepare for it!! It would be good to at least be able to say hello!
Would the stipend be enough to live in korea or do you need extra allowance?
If you do not shop a lot, it should be sufficient!
Is department/field and major are same in korea
For my master when i check uni information pdf the course which are written like in engineering there is electronics engg
So should i mention electronics engg in major or the one i found on web like inside that embedded and ckt system engg🙏🏻
It would be best to check with the school directly!
Thank you for this video. Please could you more explain why KGSP is for those who wish to pursue their academic ph.D in Korea or to work there? I Want to continue a research program After graduating from a korean university in Europe or America. So I would like to know if it is a good idea to go in Korea only for a master's degree in then continue in another country.
Thank you in advance.
Can I ask something? I am already a bachelor's degree graduate but I don't want to continue this career anymore. I am planning to study again with other course. Am I allowed to apply for this?
I don't think you can do another bachelor's degree but you will have to check with your korean embassy!

Is it possible to study (under KGSP) and work (part-time) in South Korea? And, what is your usual class schedule for your Master's degree?

Hi! I really want to know if i can still apply to the scholarship even if I already started studying my undergraduate in my home country:(
Hey, thanks for the video it was very helpful.
I have one thing that I am still not sure on. When I apply with GKS do I also complete the universities' regular application process, e.g. the uni I am applying to asks for documents to be uploaded online in their own application system,, and to pay a fee.
Do I still have to do this and pay the fee if I am using GKS? Or do I just send them my GKS application in the mail? Thanks for any reply!
If you are applying via embassy track, you don't have to submit any documents to the school!

I just wanna be sure about wasting 1 year just for studying korean language. Is it also be the same with undergraduates? I'm planning to apply for KGSP scholarship next year. I will first finish my SHS then I'll apply for KGSP scholarship. So before I'll be freshman or before I'll take my course, I need to learn Korean language in a year first?
Yes unless you have topik 4 and above when applying!
it might be topik 5 and above i cant really remb!
When studying Korean for a year, I'll be in Korea by that time?
thanks for sharing this useful information, one question, are all major and degree (from Bachelor to Ph.D) taught in Korean language?
There are some courses taught in English! :)
3-4 years for masters? I thought masters is only 1 year? I thought I heard jeanette mentioning that she will be studying in Korea for 2 years? Or it depends on the major?
jeanette is also doing 1 year of language! so plus her major of 2 years - total of 3 years! I skipped my 1 year of language so i only have 2 years!
Oh I see. Is it possible to take placement test? I've been learning Korean for a while but not very fluent.
