Not only that but hitting the "meat" of the cymbal instead of the edge will help the cymbal longevity plus stick longevity. It could be something as simple as adjusting the height of your drum throne so you're not hitting the outside.

For me the only way to buy new cymbals is going to a music store and play them before I buy. I would never take the risk of buying online (which is what I'm guessing you did) and find out how they actually sound at home. No one cymbal is the same. You can put 10 17" K crashes in a row and find out that some sound better than others. I've been in the situation where I could do this several times and some cymbals were actually sounding pretty bad... Your new cymbals sound great by the way. So you're lucky :-) Enjoy them and, like other people said in the comments, they will sound even better if you hit them a little more gentle (mainly the crashes). Great cymbals. Love the hi hats. Enjoyed your playing as well. Its hard to find a better crash than the k sweet 19. My favorite cymbal that i own. Just subscribed. Enjoy your new cymbals.
I'm looking for a set to come back to after a 15-year break from playing. I was supposed to put something together... But this set seems perfect. Hi-Hat sounds amazing! Nice review, thanks for this!

I just got this same cymbal pack. I've never bought a cymbal pack before; always individual cymbals. I was really excited. The 21 ride has a very nice ping, bell and is really crash-able but in all honesty it's a little washy and for reasons I can't really say I'm not crazy about the 19 yet. I haven't had a chance to hear them from a distance (audience perspective) yet. I've had other cymbals in the past that I didn't really like close up but sound great once you're not right next to them (Zildjian 18 uptown ride in particular). I'm going to give them some time and see if I change my mind on the 19 and the 21.
Awesome, congrats! Every cymbal is unique and it all depends on the drummer. It should be no surprise that I first thought they were a little quieter compared to some of my old cymbals 😄 But they sound WAY better. I’m making some adjustments to make sure they last a long time. It’s a big change to switch to a whole new cymbal line!
Zildjiaaaaaaaaan!🤘🏻Absolute favorite cymbal company. I’ve got myself some A customs and an 18” A high China. Love ‘em! Although my 18” crash is cracking after about two years of play. And I’d like a bigger bell on my ride. At some point I gotta get a couple new ones. But those new ones will be Zildjian.
The A customs are beautiful! I’ve definitely played more Zildjian than anything else. Still, there are some other great makers, too (the new Meinls are right up my alley).
@@someroomtodrum Meinl is good, Paiste is good. I’d probably go for Paiste if I didn’t didn’t love Zildjian so much. All of my drumming inspirations use Zildjian. Matt Greiner and Connor Denis mainly, as well as a handful of others. So I am a bit biased toward them.
A customs are on point to get excellent pies at a lesser cost. I have both k’s and sweets. The sweets are so much like my k dark thins I can’t tell that much of a difference. My favs to record though are HHX evolution a Weckl pies. So many choices. Love them pies.
@@woodtroll3279 Yeah. The Paiste signatures fast crashes are so beautiful. A bit glassy perhaps but they have their spot. A 16” Paiste signature fast crash is still a fav of mine. I love all great pies most all companies have some incredible lines. Just depends on flavor and character being sought after.
That ride sounds amazing, especially the bell, hats sounds crisp, overall great purchase! Had to put my ear buds in to hear, unfortunately I didn’t use plugs in the 90’s when I had 5k watts on both my sides of my head!
The K sweet line are just awesome! I have a pair of 14 inch hats a 21 inch ride that I love, it crashes so good and the 19 in crash is a really good touch with a good amount of darkness and brightness 👌🏻
Be careful the box i got was not the number's inside ! although it turned out good for me in the end so i kept it, but putting the wrong cymbal's in the box thats suppose to have these number's is not right ! got the 14" 16" 18" & 21"
@@someroomtodrum Ya i was like what the hell ? didn't even noticed it at first ,because messing with the 21 ride.Well i haven't said anything yet, but i found the 17" is good but the 19" is a bit too dark, so the 16" and 18" were better, and the same with the 14" hats i found the 15 is too much wash, but i found these sweet 14" hats sound even better than my master sound k's .
Ooh... the way you hit, those won't last long. Sounds good and I like the way you play. You would fit more with heavier cymbals. Strike me as a z custom guy all the way around!! Rock on 🤘
I’m trying to make them last. It’s funny, I like playing softer sometimes and loud other times. I need another set of Z or A customs for the heavy stuff.
Thanks dude! Yes! Meinl was my first choice for the way they look AND sound, but my work carries Zildjian and I got a huge discount. No complaints, I love em!
I have the 16", 18" and 19" crashes and they record beautifully. Almost like the 602 Modern Essentials but with a bit more meat in the sound. They look great with your kit too! Only thing I'd say is they might be a bit thin for how hard you hit. If you start breaking them I'd switch to larger A Custom Medium/Heavy crashes. Also, I'd replace the Wuhan. A student of mine had one and it sounded brutal, A Custom Ultra Hammered is maybe Zildjian's sweetest sounding china. Anyway, enjoy!
Thanks! Yeah, I’m working on my technique to make the cymbals last longer. I’ll work in a few heavies to have something to really bash on. Thanks for the china recommendation, I’ve been wanting something better than the Wuhan!
@@someroomtodrum Makes them sound better too, with most of the force going to the kick or snare hit that usually accompanies the crash, and the crash hit is more drawing the sound out of the cymbal. Todd Sucherman's a master at it. Regarding the china, if it's anything like my student's, it's about a 14" and really thick and the sound is like nails on a chalkboard. A nice big 19" or 20" china would round out that kit perfect!
Glad for the video and info but I gotta say I've been playing 40 years and I've never broken a cymbal...or drum head for that matter. Try to dial it back.. as thin as these cymbals are I'd be surprised if you still have them now, 2 years later.
I’ve dialed it back a lot. These cymbals are still holding up great after 2+ years. I have a few heavy hitter influences but Ive changed my technique after making this video. I’m about to make an updated review video very soon.
Those cymbals are sweet! I almost chose them, but I opted for the K Dark Thin crashes and K Heavy Ride. Love them. I use New Beat hats in 14 and 15 but I still got my eye on the K Sweet hats.
Mixed-matched sets are great too. I like the K-Heavy as well. I have an old 24 inch sabian ride on my main kit right now but I have several K-variants in ride and crash and I love them all!
@@someroomtodrum it’s like the Meinl dry crash/ride, that one is a big ride too, super crashable, probably my next choice. I’m currently using a 20” projection ride and let me tell you… it’s HORRIBLE for crashing, makes me wanna cry and barf it’s that displeasing but the ride and Bell are good😅🤮
Hey man. Another one here saying you are hitting your cymbals waaaaay too hard. Hence the condition of the predecessors. You don’t need to hit cymbals hard to make them sing, in fact it works quite the opposite. Also in regards to your hi hats, I would loosen the top hat a bit, will give you a bit more wash but will also make them last a lot longer. Not trying to be negative, just trying to give a helping hand from someone who has been playing a long time as a heavy hitter, and I have never cracked a cymbal.
Thanks man! Yup, posting this vid has been a real wake up call. I’ve already adapted my technique over the last few weeks and I’m being much more careful with them.
I like this cymbal pack. It could be an option for jazz drummers. But don't beat their souls out again. And I guess the drum heads will be your next project. 😉
@@someroomtodrum Great sounding cymbals. Just my worthless 2 cents on technique, but it did strike me that you hit the cymbals, especially the crashes, a lot harder than is necessary to get a good sound. It looks like you hit the cymbals more from the shoulder and elbow instead of the wrist. That may be why those poor "old" cymbals look like they were tossed into the wood chipper. Those new K's don't deserve a similar fate. Play them like the musical instruments they are and not like trash can lids and your investment will last.
Sorry, I didn't see the other comments before I posted. I'm not trying to pile on. I certainly don't have the courage to do my own drum channel! It's great that you do. Check out this guy's stroke in Zildjian's video. It demonstrates a bit of what I'm talking about from the wrist. ruclips.net/video/unLyaqgqspA/видео.html
@@brianlaughlin8974 no worries! It’s good to hear there’s a consensus on my technique, it’s not just one person being negative. I just lowered my cymbal height and practiced for a bit. Thanks for the link, I’ll check it out!
@@someroomtodrum Here is the same drummer, Jeff Randall, demonstrating various techniques. ruclips.net/video/FstCw876T9M/видео.html He refers to the one I was mentioning as a "whipping stroke." There's a lot of good stuff here. I learned some of this stuff in marching band and also playing orchestral percussion, jazz and rock. Drums rule. I'm so glad I didn't go with the trombone.
I think you hit too hard. Those sweet crashes are gonna break real fast. If you can break a 20 inch medium ride you’ll break them for sure. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I was definitely hitting my cymbals wrong. I got a lot of feedback on this video that helped me adjust my angle and velocity. It’s made a big difference and I’m sure they’ll last a lot longer from now on.
Currently on sale for $999 at guitar center. I’m so tempted however the ride is just not quite my favorite in the videos I’ve seen. I wish it had a touch more stick articulation.
The reason I like this set is because it doesn't have a godawful 16" splash//crash. The reason I don't like it is that it doesn't have 18" and 20" crashes. Because we all know that when you have a couple hundred bucks to spend, no one is ever going to buy a 16" crash.
Dont you hate when those cymbal nutz tighten on their own? They are nice, they really have a Wuhan koi type sound, i mean Zildjian must have gave wuhan koi some ideas. I took my 17 inch Western Wuhan crash and added some cluster hammer on two sides, only using the flat hammer, not much, it seems even better now. Like he mentioned, if you want crashes that are more china sounding, the Wuhan crashes are perfect.
Those are made out of b20, its really hard to break those unless you hit them wrong or way too hard Its my first time watching a video from you, i see you have talent, but men you just hit them too hard, seems like you want to break them My advice, try hitting them a little bit less hard, trust me, you will have more sustain and a way better sound! Those are not cheap b8 cymbals with no sustain, those are b20 with a huge sustain, so trust me, dont go too hard on them, and you will have a better sound, and cymbals for days, even for life if you hit them correctly
Thank you! Cymbal technique is something I never took the time to learn. I just get so amped and want to bash everything. I’ll be adjusting cymbal placement to get better angles to play them the right way. Now I understand the dislikes on this video (aside from maybe Zildjian haters).
Brother, you play like a crazed octopus. Control your stroke and and limit your dynamics. A whole new world of feel, tone, and groove will open up to you.
@@someroomtodrum My playing days are LONG gone. But, when I first started out, being an 80's metal head, I tore the crap out of thin cymbals from hitting them so hard. I was trying to extract more volume out of smaller, thinner cymbals than what they're capable of producing, therefore I ripped a bunch of cymbals. Another problem I faced was I bought used cymbals because that was all I could afford until......I GOT A GOOD-PAYING JOB !!! I went hog wild. I went and put a large set of Ludwig Rocker II's and Zildjian A's and Z's (the ORIGINAL Z's) on layaway. Never ripped another cymbal after that. But, then again I sold my set about three years later. Decided starting a family was more important. I wish you the best.
@@csrboltfan2643 I didn’t realize how thin they were before I bought them. That’s another problem with buying online without being able to hear/handle them physically. But I do still love them for what they are and I enjoy playing jazz/funk stuff a lot, too. I may just need to get another set of heavier, cheaper cymbals for the rock/metal stuff.

I love it! It’s a great set. Oh yeah, my hearing has suffered a lot over the years.
The K sweet line are just awesome! I have a pair of 14 inch hats a 21 inch ride that I love, it crashes so good and the 19 in crash is a really good touch with a good amount of darkness and brightness 👌🏻
The 19” crash has some of the best dark tones I’ve heard in a cymbal. I love em all!
Great sharing my Big Brother!! Love and respect Kyle!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Thanks man!
they have got the name wright... sweet as they are - fantastic cymbals i bought them myself
Be careful the box i got was not the number's inside ! although it turned out good for me in the end so i kept it, but putting the wrong cymbal's in the box thats suppose to have these number's is not right ! got the 14" 16" 18" & 21"
Oh man, that's a bummer! It sounds like you're still happy with it, but I hope they fixed that issue for other customers.
Awesome review. Good demo. Yup, I'm giving this channel a follow 👌
Thanks for the feedback and follow!
Ooh... the way you hit, those won't last long.
K Sweet is my favorite cymbal line. And I'm a Paiste guy for over 35 years.
I’d love to add more to the collection
Congrats. I love my 19” sweet crash 🥰
Thanks! That's my favorite crash I've ever had.
Congrats on the new cymbals! I've wanted a set of either those K Sweet cymbals or the Meinl Byzance for so long.
Thanks dude! Yes! Meinl was my first choice for the way they look AND sound, but my work carries Zildjian and I got a huge discount. No complaints, I love em!
@@someroomtodrum Niiiiiiice! Well done and well deserved, they sound fantastic! 😄
Thanks buddy!
They definitely have me considering swapin my A Customs...
Thanks for the show
what an upgrade!

Hi hat e 19".... fenomenali....ottimo ride e 17"
Gli hi-hat e il crash da 19" sono i miei preferiti in questo pacchetto
How!!! , the great full kit????
I’m sorry, I’m not sure what you’re asking.
@someroomtodrum I just got back from guitar Center with mine about a half hour ago. The decision I made largely based on your video. I appreciate it.
@@stevearpey9241 awesome! I love em so much I just added the 20” crash last week. It’s spectacular.
The k sweets sound amazing! Tried a few in guitar center. Good for anything you play.
I love ‘em!
I am a Paiste guy but this is great video. Congrats!
Paiste is great, too. Thanks!
I find there cymbal's are kinda sounding like Paiste now maybe there catching on !
You know what they say about those Sweet cymbals........... they sound sweet.
Their branding department is on point.
Those cymbals are sweet! I almost chose them, but I opted for the K Dark Thin crashes and K Heavy Ride. Love them. I use New Beat hats in 14 and 15 but I still got my eye on the K Sweet hats.
Nice! I like the K Darks a lot, too. I’ll be adding more cymbals for variety someday.
Mixed-matched sets are great too. I like the K-Heavy as well. I have an old 24 inch sabian ride on my main kit right now but I have several K-variants in ride and crash and I love them all!
@@b.p.879 They don't make a K Dark Thin ride or hi hats so you have to mix them up with you use those crashes.
24?! That's huge!
@@someroomtodrum it’s like the Meinl dry crash/ride, that one is a big ride too, super crashable, probably my next choice.
I’m currently using a 20” projection ride and let me tell you… it’s HORRIBLE for crashing, makes me wanna cry and barf it’s that displeasing but the ride and Bell are good😅🤮
Congrats on the new pies!!
Hey…. what song was that while you were racking up the new cymbals at 6:24??
Thanks! That song is from the RUclips audio library, artist called Mini Vandals.
Congrats man
Thanks!
I like the hats and the ride but the crashes aren't my thang.
Good sounding cymbals
That hi hat! Wow
The new ones are great, but I’m sure you’re talking about the non-OSHA-approved old ones
@@someroomtodrum no the new one 😀. Probably the best sounding 15 I've heard.
@@jnishar 😂 I love ‘em!
This is the good kind of new metal
🤣 And this is an A+++ comment
Ya ! You definitely will have to learn dynamics on your kit as well as your cymbals or you will be replacing all your sweet cymbals
Yup, I’m working on it! I haven’t played this hard on them since making the video.
They will be looking like your old ones, you keep hitting them that hard.your money, enjoy.!,
Indeed, I’ve gotten some good feedback from this vid so I’ll be fixing my technique pronto!
Possibly I missed it but how much did you pay for the set ? Also, nice video thanks for posting.
Thanks! I didn’t mention in the video but the pack is around US $1379 retail. I saved almost 40% from that with my work discount, though.
I like this cymbal pack. It could be an option for jazz drummers. But don't beat their souls out again. And I guess the drum heads will be your next project. 😉
Yes, these are great for jazz. I do like to play very hard but I’m trying to be nicer to my cymbals now. Heads are definitely on the list!
@@someroomtodrum Here is the same drummer, Jeff Randall, demonstrating various techniques.
ruclips.net/video/FstCw876T9M/видео.html
He refers to the one I was mentioning as a "whipping stroke." There's a lot of good stuff here. I learned some of this stuff in marching band and also playing orchestral percussion, jazz and rock. Drums rule. I'm so glad I didn't go with the trombone.
Sweet!
Indeed!
That’s a deal! I’m not a fan of GC but at least I got a similar discount through my job.
@@someroomtodrum Correction it's the set with the smaller 14, 16, 18, 21 which isn't as appealing. Bummer.
Oh gotcha. Yeah that’s too small. This set retails at $1379 most places.
@@someroomtodrum Today I was able to grab the larger set from Sweetwater as a demo set for a similarly good deal. They should be here tomorrow!
@@TimmyK916 Nicely done. Sweetwater is hard to beat in retail pricing. Fast and on point services too.
i remenber the last time i bought new cymbals, holy shit, it was a celebration, its about time to do it again, but i am a sabian guy
It’s been kind of a watershed moment for me. So glad I made the investment.
I doubt you will purchase Zildjians when you see the price!
The EQ is not flat
I’m not a pro audio engineer and have limited equipment. Can you explain what you think I did wrong so I can do better next time?
Awesome...
I agree!
Did they replace k light?
They seem awful thin
They are very thin but it gives them a great sound.
Have you heard Constantinople overhammered thin ride?
I haven't. Honestly I've been out of the loop on cymbals for a long time, I'm just now learning more about what's out there.
The reason I like this set is because it doesn't have a godawful 16" splash//crash. The reason I don't like it is that it doesn't have 18" and 20" crashes. Because we all know that when you have a couple hundred bucks to spend, no one is ever going to buy a 16" crash.
That would be quite the set to include all the crash sizes. I'd like to add the 20", especially since it's on sale right now.
Whats a good way to polish?
Cymbal cleaners work well and they have have instructions on the bottle.
@@someroomtodrum thanks, was using Google, but having some trouble getting the stick marks off.
I’ll try my polish on the new cymbals and see how that works out.
Great cymbal, however should just call you the cymbals' destroyer xD but now, I'd call you the beat crafter as a token of my gratitude. Thank you

@@yanmari8469 no problem!
I seem to have more of a problem with them coming loose.
Those are made out of b20, its really hard to break those unless you hit them wrong or way too hard
Its my first time watching a video from you, i see you have talent, but men you just hit them too hard, seems like you want to break them
My advice, try hitting them a little bit less hard, trust me, you will have more sustain and a way better sound! Those are not cheap b8 cymbals with no sustain, those are b20 with a huge sustain, so trust me, dont go too hard on them, and you will have a better sound, and cymbals for days, even for life if you hit them correctly
Correct
Thank you! Cymbal technique is something I never took the time to learn. I just get so amped and want to bash everything. I’ll be adjusting cymbal placement to get better angles to play them the right way. Now I understand the dislikes on this video (aside from maybe Zildjian haters).
@@someroomtodrum no worries, you keep doing your business, and those will sound way better!
If you watch the namm video from 2018 the Zildjian guys takes the 16" and bends it ! and goes back to normal, they should survive.

The hi hats are incredible!
SOUND GOOD WITH MICS...SOUND CRAPPY WITHOUT MICS....IMO
If you play a cymbal without mics, does it make a sound?
Just be gentler :D and make the top hihat cymbal a bit looser, it'll thank you later ;)
Oh yes, good advice.
I must say, my Wuhan crashes sound pretty loud even when i dont hit them as hard all the time, my b8 20 inch crash ride doesnt feel as forgiving.
Why not play some beats?
Like around 10:14 where I start bashing them too hard?
Like... the people want look for older videos to compare upgrade
I hope this helped!
Brother, you play like a crazed octopus. Control your stroke and and limit your dynamics. A whole new world of feel, tone, and groove will open up to you.
I certainly used to. I feel like I’ve improved a lot since this video.
you need to learn how to hit cymbals the proper way
I did, thanks to everyone’s comments on this video.
Short sustain/ thin sounding. Meh
Not made for rock music, that's for sure.
They are very thin, but you can use them for a wide variety of styles. You just have to hit them and record them better than I do.
Don’t hit those new cymbals so hard.
