Ya I didn’t see a heater for it… but I did read about it having a recommended heater but found nothing for it. Didn’t find a recommended thermometer either. Bought a stick on temp gauge. It picks up room ambient temp but should be good enough
Instead of using baking soda to buffer soft water and increase hatch rate up to 90-95% success..., I use marine salt in the same amount of salt recommended. It not only buffers beautifully, it also adds several other elements that aid in brine shrimp hatch rate(ie calcium, magnesium etc). The other small, yetaaaaaà vital investment I made was to buy a tiny 5$ heater. It's flat, fits perfectly thru the hole at the top of the Ziss hatchery, and has a small suction cup allowing you position it quite low, to maximize hear circulation. Was really cost effective and convinced with the marine salt water I start noticing hatching only a few hours later.... However, for the full 90-95% I wait 18-36 hours(usually just under 24) depending on the time of year. Dead of winter always seems to take a few hours longer no matter effective the options you use happens to be.
If it were me, id use the handle to hang it on the outside of a tank to free up both hands, one for turning the valve and one for holding the collection cup. And I wish the manufacturer added a little airline clip on the side of the container so that the loop of the airline could be secured in place so that gravity doesn't make it kink (thereby restricting air flow and putting pressure on the pump) over time. But yeahno, thank you for reviewing, this was informative.
Bought one of these recently. Happy in general, but the supplied thermometer reads 4 degrees high. At least it’s consistently wrong, so can be used to monitor variation if nothing else! 🙄
I really like mine!!! I'll give you some of my eggs and then you can do a test Co-op vs Brine Shrimp Direct if you like you could even use my Co-op blender to keep everything even.
Hi Guys! I have a question I have ordered 20 1x1 Java Moss Clippings I guess, I don't know what to tie them on, I don't wanna do wood cause I am doing a breeding tank and my area doesn't sell one type of wood so I want to do a small rock but I don't know what to use....
Lava rock is a great option. You can usually buy a very large bag for under $5. If you did want a wood option and have a Hobby Lobby near you they actually sell cholla wood. You can cut the wood I to smaller slices making it a really cheap wood option.
I think it only fair to point out that what Corey has sent you is not the same as what anybody else would get if they ordered the 'kit' from Aquarium CO-OP. The 'kit' does not include the airline ($5), the air pump ($9), the salt ($4) or the brine shrimp eggs ($20). If it did you might just be able to justify the whopping $45 price tag. What you do get is a plastic container with a lid, a short piece of rigid tube, a thermometer, an airstone, a drain valve and a stand which is virtually unusable unless you have hands the same size as a 10 year old. To buy everything that you have been sent, if ordered from Aquarium CO-OP would cost $83.
I may have referred to it as a kit but it’s pretty obvious there are different products here. It’s not sold as a kit. It’s just what I was sent to demo. And I mentioned a couple of times it’s cheeper to make your own. So that’s worth mentioning too.
@@pecktec Actually I don't think you did refer to it as a kit, this was just my interpretation. The impression given is that if you buy the blender you get everything shown but you didn't actually say that but that is how it came across to me.
hi pecktec I've been following your for quite some time 😊. I to have one of these and don't heat my basement so I've been keeping it in my 90gal tank while it hatches .if you check out my channel you can see 👀 the video I made about running it in my tank. great minds think alike 😉 by the way great video as always 👌
Sorry have you had a tipple this video is not upto your regular standard i like your laid back chat covering great tanks informatively without unnecessary claptrap and like your approach but sit back watch its not your up to your usual informative practical standard
Ah well they closed all the theatres for the company I work for that week and most of my coworkers were furloughed. Lots of decades old friends going to other jobs as we all scramble around trying to see how we will make a living and say goodbye. So perhaps I had a few other things on my mind. And absolutely had a “tipple” as you say. Cheers
@@pecktec I know have watched you for months feel for all in ferlow but we will get through difficult times and you help me keep up the great work so we can learn and enjoy fish and aquariums for all
Great explanations! I bought all the parts as seen in the other video you mentioned. Ty
Thank You! Finally someone who shows how it's used with it's stand.
i love your funny little editing things, makes me smile every time
Right on
Greater products

You’re about the fifth one who I’m subbed to that’s done this video in the last two weeks. Lol
Your fish are gonna love you for the brine shrimp.
Thumbs up just for the shirt
Thank you for this review!
Great vid as always. I laughed out loud at the ending!

That’s a good idea hanging it up on the tank to use both hands. Thanks!
ARE-TEAM- EE-UGH...for next the time..lol
Not sure how to interpret this.
@@pecktec Ar-tee-me-a not artema
Definitely would like to get one of these one day, especially now that I’m getting into breeding guppies
This is one of those projects I’d love to do when/if I get a fish room.

Great review
you can buy a nano tank heater mine is 25watts 8 inch long
I'd like to try it one day!
Populate your refugium?
My usb plug is 5V 2.1A on both red and blue

interesting video :DD we are thinking about brine shrimp for feeding as well - since we have a hard time catching our new snails
Did ya figure out why the power adapter for the pump had 2 different colors?
It should have a heater in case you need it. Perhaps Cory could work with someone on a usb version.

are you still doing giveaways for filter media etc?

Dean has many tanks and breeds many fish but he only needs two of these to keep up so a line of these would be completely unnecessary.
Yeah I really got a lot out of my mini batch.
Should use tap water NOT aquarium water.
Is it just cleaner?
@@pecktec I hear that the chlorine helps with the eggs hatching. I don't know if it is true or not tho

I tried your unboxing technique. It did not work for me.
