My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

I was very small for my age and got beaten for being different, not disabled, just small. You should know I'm a hell of a fighter now, at nearly age 70! At age 50, i gained weight to the point of 395 lbs. because I sat at the computer and made a very good living and ate all the wrong foods, so I stopped eating crap and changed up my diet, got out and started walking lots and drinking lots of water and am now down to 219 lbs, give or take a bit and am maintaining my weight! If I can do it, YOU CAN DO IT, TOO! I'm a long time CNA and realized what I was doing to myself, was very shocked, so I DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!

Congratulations! I was always picked on for being too skinny growing up, and even after I got married and had my first baby! I was on WIC and they gave me things like peanut butter to pack a little bit on. After my second baby, I kept most of the weight and struggled to get it off! I've been between 150 to 160 pretty much ever since. I definitely feel better when I lose weight, it's just extremely hard for me to do since I really can't exercise and have too many other health problems going on at once. I drink a lot of water, but my doctor made me cut down on it (from 3 gallons a day to 1/2 gallon per day) because my kidneys are failing. I retain most of what I drink if I don't take a TON of Lasix, which makes them even worse. A big vicious circle.
Congratulations on being able to do something about it, and for keeping it off! I know it's a hard thing to do!

Well done! Many patients in her place will give all sorts of excuses to justify non-compliance to the Doctor's advice in their weight loss journey. Indeed, not many find it easy to even shed the initial 30 or so pounds to demonstrate commitment to the process. Krystal has shown the will and desire to reclaim her life. Such an inspiration!
    I wish her every success.

She has a great attitude - amazing, however it is unfortunate that many resort to a dangerous surgery with high risks of death and complications - and sadly, the surgery only buys you time, and most people will eventually gain most of the weight back as the body adapts, and then you have to face other health problems and deficiencies. Some people eat the same calories as she does and don't gain a pound - it's terrible that in 2024 with all the technology and the so-called advances, there is no REAL solution that is long term and healthy.

I don't drink sugary drinks, rarely have sweets, virtually no bread and walk 5 miles a day with my dog. My only vise is wine yet even after giving that up for four months, I still did not lose weight. What the heck, how do people lose weight? OMD and fasting I guess and get my nutrients through supplements.
