    Got the Black Series this morning, and I love it! The jetpack is really stiff and hard to get on and I nearly snapped the vibro-knife putting it in his boot, but, posed and standing there, he looks so badass I can forgive those little niggles. From where I'm sitting, you just wouldn't be able to tell any difference between it and the Mafex, that is pricey and hard to come by in the UK.
    I was going to pose him with the darksaber, but, my Paz looks so good holding it and I don't like the cannon I'd have to pose him with otherwise, so, Mando has his blaster.

    Extremely thorough with your comparison, well done as always AD!
    While I personally feel that the Black Series is a better value and choice for me due to it being more pick-up-and-playable, I do respect anyone’s opinion that wants more finesse and robust premium accessory options!
    I think both of these are great, and “to each their own”!

    Thanks for this, Mafex really wins this round with all the acessories, the Pedro head sculpt, wired cape, Grogu and the over all look. Mafex is really killing it lately with their comic figures and there live action figures.

    Great comparison! Very detailed. Here in the US, MAFEX is about four times as expensive as Black Series. This is my first and possibly only MAFEX, haha, but the value is absolutely worth it. I have both of these figures and greatly enjoy each one. Thanks for another wonderful video!

  • @pletho79

    Outstanding! Hit all the points I was hoping for, great articulation poses, love the notes on plastic quality and age ratings, and especially appreciate explaining how Hasbro spreads the accessories across several releases which quickly add up to much higher cost than Mafex. Not to mention alt hands just aren't available in TBS, and that Mafex's better sculpt and paint detail also applies to the accessories - crackling on the darksaber, metallic detail on the pistol and rifle, etc. To me TBS only wins "lowest cost acceptable looking Mando from a distance", but value, detail, and quality are absolutely no contest.
    With all the comments like "TBS is just as good or better than the imports for of the price," or "isn't it incredible that TBS can even be compared to the imports" have me feeling very out of step with other SW collectors at the moment, so respect and appreciation for keeping it level. Good luck with the comments!

    • @pletho79
      @pletho79 9 месяцев назад +1

      All that said, I didn't really like this release from Mafex lol. That amount of squeaking in the joints is a little beyond normal for imports, and combined with joints popping out easily, popping back in difficult-ly, and overall stiffness, I was just way too afraid to pose him. My preference goes to SHF S3 - similar amount of accessories, but they upgraded the Mando body and it really stands above in joint smoothness and range of movement.

    • @Naniganz
      @Naniganz 9 месяцев назад

      @@pletho79 I think I agree. I love that the new SHF is so poseable and they listened to the criticisms of how clean he looked by upping the weathering a lot. I think in particular, the SHF S3 Mando has a much more natural looking pelvis area compared to the Mafex (weird sentence lol). The S3 Grogu is also so much better than the Mafex. It looks more like the character and even has articulated ears! But I do think proportionately and accessories-wise, the Mafex wins out overall, though both are excellent figures I'm glad to have.

    I just bought the Black Series one a couple days ago and I can see mine has sharper details on the armor and also better colors and painting job than yours. Mine has silver paint in the belt buckle as the Mafex one, the helmet and the armor are way better detailed and no messy painting at all, huge diference to be honest. For 25 dollars Im so happy with this figure. Great review!

      Same thing with the knife. And the rifle attach,ent for the Mafex is BETTER than how finicky the old version was, it’s still way more finicky than the simple attachment of the Black Series.

    Hello Action Display thanks again for sharing your thoughts on these Mando figures.
    The Mayfex definitely is overall the better figure with the many different accessories that it comes with.
    But with the price difference being the main point in my collection, this Black Series Mando figure looks great at a more affordable price for my collection.
    Thanks for sharing your opinions with us and going over the many details. I'll catch you later my friend, Tom

    Mafex comes with a ton of accessories which... tbh won't be displaying all those extra accessories and be kept in the box. While Black Series can use a bit more touch up on paint mainly the belt but overall you can display everything in one go. So depending on your wallet as both can match with either Black Series / Mafex line.. and if you putting it on your shelves... tiny details wont be that noticeable. Great comparison review

    Great breakdown! I own both these guys, and while I absolutely love them both, The Mafex version 2.0 is clearly the superior one.
    That takes nothing away from the Black Series - this is far and away one of their best figures ever. I would even rate it higher the S H Figuarts version.

    Hit the nail on the head in the final analysis. Despite the price difference between these individual figures, I don't want to have to go around buying multiples of the same figure (I'm not invested in the Mandalorian enough that I want a figure for each individual season) to collect all the accessories, let alone reserve the space to display them all. I would much rather have all the accessories on hand in one package that I can reach for any time I want to create the pose I want.

    I have both, because when I've reordered the mafex one a year ago, there was no mando in the black series line that made be happy, the reason was black series never got the helmet mold right, until now. So now I have both and I'm tempted to sell the mafex one, because although it's an awesome figure and very complete in terms of accessories, in the end of the day my figures stay in the shelf ages without me reposing it and that is why the mafex one is no more the figure for me. I'm probably still going to play with the mafex once more to take a few pictures before I sell it.

Which is cool ! Makes me feel better about collecting the line that it is being compared to imports 😮 ! Have a good day !

      I think they just want to find a way to justify their expensive purchase and not feel bad about it knowing it's overpriced. Just when you think they're being subjective they quickly throw it out of the window in favor of unnecessary extra accessories.

    Loved that you had the balls to compare these two. I feel a lot of reviewers don’t want to make this video because they feel bad that a 25 dollar figure is getting closer to import quality than it should be. Don’t want to accept that price tag is getting a little ridiculous when you compare the figures. respect !

      The Black Series doesn’t come close enough to justify the cost imo. If you break it down the figures cost roughly the same without accessories

    • @pletho79
      @pletho79 9 месяцев назад +1

      Tbh I was working on a similar video that also included SHF S3, and scrapped it for exactly the opposite reason. To me it is easy to see where the added cost goes just in accessories alone, and when you factor in the quality of sculpt, materials, paint, and attention to detail, TBS starts looking light on value. I think AD does a great job here explaining how depending on your priorities, you could easily see enough value to justify the higher price for an import.

    • @edwinarroyo8069
      @edwinarroyo8069 9 месяцев назад +4

      Totally disagree the fact that the black series can hit almost if not all the poses that the mafex can makes a good argument for the value it’s $25 compared to $100 it’s four times the cost. Accessories alone cannot justify the 75 dollar cost. The community just bashed the black series starkiller exclusive pack for the price and accessories not justifying it now it’s on clearance. I’m just saying black series is coming along really well as a line when they try lol it comes down to do you have the money to dish out they’re both great figures ! But I also favor the BS one because you don’t have to be as delicate with it than the mafex. Mafex has a lot of fragile trinkets but does make the figure awesome cannot lie

    • @pletho79
      @pletho79 9 месяцев назад

      @edwinarroyo8069 don't get me wrong, TBS has good things going for it. I'm just saying the reasons for higher cost on Mafex are there, and don't include laughing to the bank while charging 4x more than they need to. Mafex SW don't seem to sell very well and often go on sale, so I think they're more of an entrypoint than a moneymaker. Depending on your priorities, the reasons for higher cost might not matter to you or might be so important that TBS doesn't fit the bill, that's all.
      For my priorities, I think it's impressive that Mafex is competitive- or for some even better value - in the US despite the added cost of importing and working around exclusive regional licenses. Consider the Japanese market where Mafex is domestic and Black Series is an import - the value comparison there is really no contest. Even AD's situation where both are imports really can tip the balance.

      @raulramirezcosiovillegas1240 8 месяцев назад

      This criticism is valid only for people living in the USA. In several other countries, Black Series figures are way more expensive. Where I'm from, most BS figures are around 40-50 bucks. I got my Mafex Mando for around 85 dollars. Mafex and SH Figuarts are expensive in the USA not because of 'quality and accesories', but solely on the fact that you have to ship them to other countries. Basic SH figuarts go for like 30 bucks in Japan. Cheapest Mafex cost around 50 bucks. Please take into consideration that the price is that high not because of the 'quality' but because they have to be imported. Hasbro doesn't even come close to painting, sculpting and articulation compared to SH Figuarts or Mafex. So yeah, I think that Hasbro still has to up its game.

  • @Naniganz
    @Naniganz 9 месяцев назад

    I agree with you, Action Display. Having all three of the latest 6" Mandalorian figures (Mafex, SHF and TBS) they each have their pros and cons. If I could only have one, I guess it'd be Mafex due to the overall look and accessories, especially the Pedro headsculpt. The Mafex has the best looking darksaber by far (RIP darksaber) and flamethrower. It has a grappling line unlike any other Mando figure. But while it's a gorgeous figure with excellent accessories, the articulation is a big letdown compared to the others. I also don't like how his pelvis/crotch area looks or how clean he is. The new SHF is surprisingly good looking because of the weathering they've added. The SHF also has much better articulation than the Mafex this time. Plus, the new SHF Grogu is far better looking than this "kawaii" Grogu. The SHF Grogu even has articulated ears! So fun and expressive. I really think if you can find a good deal for it, the SHF Season 3 Mando is well worth it.

    Makes no sense to say if you want the extra accessories you have to buy previous mandalorians. More than likely you already have one version or the other if you're a collector. IF you're new just wait for Hasbro to give you a deluxe version with all the necessary accessories at a reasonable price which they will. Now where did you get the Mafex Mando for $65? BBTS has it for $110 with shipping. I feel the Mafex is overpriced, yeah all the extra accessories are nice but they feel more like baggage.
