That's what we do in South Carolina. A great state to live in and raise a family. I lived in Columbia for several years and Florida for a time. Still prefer SC. Great video.
Ya, that clearance was SOLID. It's fun to think that by the time you actually get your instrument rating, you'll be an old pro at dealing with that part. I can definitely remember some times in the early days when you said "I will never be able to do that", with respect to radio comms, specifically clearances and taxi routing, and now you can do it all with finesse and style. :)
I think I'm finally subscribed to enough aviation youtubers that I'll have enough content to keep me satisfied. Just kidding, there's never enough... Thanks for the videos!
Kim Kim, you're doing a good job. You're helping him out with the controls in the plane and both of you're so working together like a team. And I'd like to see that I mean. It's your you're just as good as he is. Don't forget that. But that in your back, your mind you're. You're just as good as he is. And you wanna show that you could do it cause I got my faith in
Where do I begin? So much to comment on. Kim, you did a great job on the receipt of clearance. It was like you have been doing it for years Sweet! 👍👍 Kris I'm glad you took the time to explain your numbers and how you manage your power. So many pilots just fly the numbers they were taught. You explained some very helpful nuances to power settings etc. that I'm sure many will now pay attention to for the planes they fly. You always put out useful info and it is appreciated!
That was cool watching you fly over the Blue Ridge mountains. Being an Asheville boy it was neat to see Mars Hill and Marshall on the chart. I soloed when I was 16 and got 60 hrs. in a 152 out of Asheville. Live outside Augusta GA now and never followed through on getting my license. But its fun to watch you guys!
Good video Kris. Kim you’re doing a great job on the radios with the Clarence an all your ATC radio calls. Y’all make a cute couple and a good flying team. Keep the greasy side down.
Welcome to my area of flying my baron. The Great lakes is always interesting .........have flown into Meigs often when it was there and Milwaukee a few times...
That’s cool I live fairly close to Pelion Airport! Nothing there but a runway! 😂We live in Gilbert SC about 15 miles from Pelion. It’s crazy that you flew in there. Just curious why y’all went there instead of CAE or Owens Field? Eagle Aviation is the FBO at both, Eagle owns Owens Field mainly general aviation there. I worked for Eagle Aviation years ago! It’s crazy y’all were that close!
In my Cessna single, I set the cruise rpm to 2300-2400 like you, but then I make small changes from there to minimize the vibration and keep the airplane happy. The exact RPM I set (I have a digital tach) varies slightly from day to day - I let the airplane tell me what she likes. And yes, I’ve had my prop dynamically balanced recently. Oh, and check out FAA advisory circular AC-90-66B. You should be including your tail number in your non-towered airport coms. It’s helpful to others using ADS-B. Keep up the great content!
Another nice video Kris... Speaking of power settings, some of your viewers might be interested in a comparison flight between your airplane and mine. You have larger normally aspirated engines, I have smaller turbocharged engines on my Seneca IV. Could compare speeds, fuel burns, payloads vs altitude? Based at KBCT...
I’d be interested to also see what, if any, differences there are between the IV and the Seneca II I have. I usually cruise at 65%, which is about 29-30 inches (depending on OAT) at 2300 rpm…
The savings from reducing the RPM are negated by having to fly the minute or two longer due to the reduced airspeed. For all practical purposes, it seems to be a wash. Great video. Thank you.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your power settings. I fly a Cessna 310N but have the same Continental IO-470 engines. I do the same with initial climb at full power to 1K AGL then 25"/2500 RPM for the rest of the climb with normal manifold pressure drop off for altitude increase. I am a 2300 RPM-er all the way as I have kids and a paranoid dog. The added benefit to 2300 RPM is you get to fly just a little longer.
Kim has yawned several times in this episode.....lack of oxygen or bored of power settings?? 😊 Evidently, it was the oxygen. I almost fell off my chair watching this.☺
I fly a 58 baron with the IO 520s and fly over square and LOP( lean of peak) pretty much every where i go. On one trip I ended up saving 15% fuel for a 5% loss in airspeed. Since i am building time and buying the fuel, I'll take that all day long. On one trip in particular, my fuel burn was 9.4- 9.7 per side at 20.5 mp/21 rpm(on the detent) and leaned for 10 & 11k ft. . I agree about brake usage. Aerodynamic braking is free to use and the little bit of savings in fuel isn't worth hitting the brakes hard.
Come on, when you're good when you're going to land the airplane. Touch your steering wheel and feel it. As you've got your approaching the runway. Then you get an ideal like you're gonna. Buddy said about 18 or 17 that he controls the airplane for uh, I safe landing.
I’m hooked on your channel!! Love your videos! Educational, entertaining, relaxing! Can you please explain the power settings when you say manifold pressure?! I have an idea what ur talking about but cud use a better explanation. Thank you guys!! 😎💪🏾🤟🏾
I got lots of “direct destination” from 1,000 or more miles away during the depths of the lack of traffic during the pandemic. Not so much these days which is, ironically, a good thing.
G,day Chris and Kim from Sydney Australia. Thankyou for explaining the power setting differences with the Baron (75W). Such as fuel use 180 ÷ 23.5 = 7.66 mpg And dBa Question on manifold pressure. How are you establishing or is there a connection between 'at 62% power' (for that density of air (altitude)) or 16' of manifold pressure. Is it gauges? Ok maybe I need to look at the function of the manifold in a plane. O' and your not calling out the ground speed to V1to positive rate: gear up. Merry Christmas 🎄🐎🕊️🎆
I was particularly interested in your power setting discussion. Is there a reason why you do not descend using the autopilot and adjust the throttles for the desired airspeed?
Instructor give your girlfriend or person a chance of take off a Haver land under running a Burden board in The Thing when you're coming down from the cloud or trip ever. Learn to plan, see how she does. She got tired of that how she approached the cake off and approach Dylan so she don't get rusty. And forget this way should be sharp and show no, how? Choir airplane are still in the hall by airplane❤
I just want to congratulate the u.s.a. with the well deserved win on the Ryder Cup. In 2018 Europe won the Ryder Cup in Paris and I was there because it's only a 1hour flight from my country the Kingdom of the Netherlands. We crushed the u.s.a. in Paris so it's only fair the u.s.a. took revenge at Whistling Straits. But I also liked this video lol.
I fly lean of peak on longer flights of over 1 hour. If I run rich of peak my mechanic says it’s running to rich. What is your thinking running rich of peak?
more to say...this video was very enjoyable from a couple of perspectives first for the info you put out there of course and second, the humor subtle "in you endo" ie "Tail (wind) you like" "We have flotation devices on board" Kim's being nicer than yours of course (just sayin') 🤣 and a couple of other things. One last thing...Did you put butter on those wheels again? you greased that landing! Thanks, as always, for sharing your videos. Love Moose
I fly direct in the bonanza almost everywhere I go and avoid all the waypoints. Almost never get routing changes except close to class b. I notice you always use waypoints, why not just fly direct especially vfr?
ok I know this comment is going to be a little weird cuz I can see you are in your own plane, but right before she was saying the clearance it really looked like you were in a different/smaller plane.... messed my brain up but then I could see it was in fact your plane..
You're good morning, and you're doing a good job. You're going on a radio, and you're doing a good job on the radio? Yeah, bit keep on doing that, and you'll build your comforts up. And it'll comnatural angel, and you'll be expert on flying. You gotta put put your input there and talk to the tower and keep it up. And then you'll learn how to fly, take off and land when we approach the wrong way. It's good idea to keep that attractive. To keep that in experience that do I have? I'll get started getting easier by doing that. And you're cooperative, and you're cooperative, and you're cooperative. And you're commodity, could it help you or your boyfriend? Could it help you do that and get you
You're going, you're good radio in on a tower you're doing a good job on the radi'm not, I'm, i'm watching you, and you're doing a good job, but you're boyfriend, get there, you're getting there, you don't get that experience. And get that behind your belt. So you know what you're doing? Daniel, be 222 people run a control on the plane. That's what you want left and right. And make sure on the panel everything correct and radio on on the phone number that they give you.
Damn your co-pilot did a great job on the coms. Looking forward to the day when she take off and lands.
Very smart, I put that shield 2 on as she needs it. A catch it when you're up in that playing. You need to be function to be awake like you said
" that's the tail I needed" and her 😐 "whatever" made me laugh way too hard
Same here! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was a giggling idiot the second I heard that. She got back at him a little later in the video.
Nice playful stuff.
That's what we do in South Carolina. A great state to live in and raise a family. I lived in Columbia for several years and Florida for a time. Still prefer SC. Great video.
Kim loves the talk about power settings. Oxygen please, make it a double!
Ya, that clearance was SOLID. It's fun to think that by the time you actually get your instrument rating, you'll be an old pro at dealing with that part. Man you're good enough to be a airline pilot. I like your videos
I think I'm finally subscribed to enough aviation youtubers that I'll have enough content to keep me satisfied.
Just kidding, there's never enough...
Thanks for the videos!
O2 good idea. I observed her yawning at 16 minutes. Probably first sign of air hunger. Keep up the good work, Kim. You are doing great!
Kim Kim, you're doing a good job. You're helping him out with the controls in the plane and both of you're so working together like a team. And I'd like to see that I mean. It's your you're just as good as he is.

Nice job on the readback, Kim!
Your videos are well done, they show what it really takes to be a pilot, IFR is very precise.
Where do I begin? So much to comment on. Kim, you did a great job on the receipt of clearance. You guys look great together she's a great co-pilot you've trained her well.

“That’s the tail I needed.”
Can’t blame you.
Did I hear Kim mention 310 pilot's wife Jamie? They're just as awesome as this channel, well done guys.
Nice relaxing flight filled with great info - thank you for sharing your videos with us!
Nice work on the radios Kim. You've come a long way.
Kim, you’re getting really good on comms. You both are looking good (especially you 😉). Be safe!
What a beautiful pair...
Can’t wait to see more a big Shout out from Launceston Tasmania
That’s cool I live fairly close to Pelion Airport! Nothing there but a runway! 😂We live in Gilbert SC about 15 miles from Pelion. It’s crazy that you flew in there. Huge improvement on the comms by SIC. Great vid. Thanks for sharing!!

DB sound pressure levels use a logarithmic scale. A 10 db change would be twice or half as loud so 2-3 db is still significant.
Hello from Greenville SC I enjoy the channel we be glad to have you to make us your home lol have Merry Christmas.
Been missing flying with you all!
Thanks for the ride and it is this time of year again Merry Christmas enjoy your holiday.

All the MKE controllers are/were awesome. Used to fly there in the early 2000's (cancelled checks).
You guys are awsome. Keep up the good work. Be safe
Very good talking to the tower i'm checking in doing a good job
Kim, your comms are great as a controller I would think you are a rated pilot great job!
The savings from reducing the RPM are negated by having to fly the minute or two longer due to the reduced airspeed. For all practical purposes, it seems to be a wash. Great video. Thank you.
Things to count on. Great Videos and SIC will be eating at some point during the trip!.... LOL!

Good that you defined you preferred tail. . .wind. lol
Thanks for sharing.
Great job Kim!!!!
Let’s get you that RUclips plaque!
..thanks for sharing again ..you two You Tubers..
GSP's airport is great; tucked in the woods.
Kim has yawned several times in this episode.....lack of oxygen or bored of power settings?? 😊 Evidently, it was the oxygen. I almost fell off my chair watching this.☺
A naturally aspirated plane. One power setting… full throttle.
I fly a 58 baron with the IO 520s and fly over square and LOP( lean of peak) pretty much every where i go. On one trip I ended up saving 15% fuel for a 5% loss in airspeed. Visit www.tcmlink.com/pdf2/CSB09-11A.pdf and read the SB about running that engine blow 2300 rpm.
Neat video, and neat flying.
Come on, when you're good when you're going to land the airplane. Touch your steering wheel and feel it. As you've got your approaching the runway. Then you get an ideal like you're gonna. Buddy said about 18 or 17 that he controls the airplane for uh, I safe landing.

smooth ride .. Kudos
Great video. Love the power setting comparisons. Curious as to why you say “ you have a baron “ in stead of baron. Thanks
RPM * Manifold Pressure : airspeed is a ratio that is true at any altitude. So lower RPM is slower for a constant power setting.
I got lots of “direct destination” from 1,000 or more miles away during the depths of the lack of traffic during the pandemic. Not so much these days which is, ironically, a good thing.
The view inside the plane is better than the outside view.
Best Name for a waypoint....BRICKYARD!!! hehe i wonder where there gonna be flying over/around. BEST NAME EVER
I think you have the same engines I have in my early version 210, you use the same power settings as I do.
lmfao u bored the fck out of kimm i loved her face expressions lol
At least the purse made it this trip
😂✅
85 if you don’t talk 😆..excellent and informative!
G,day Chris and Kim from Sydney Australia.
Thankyou for explaining the power setting differences with the Baron (75W). Such as fuel use 180 ÷ 23.5 = 7.66 mpg

You’re close to our future home, SC99.
Just moved from there 😀
I live in Gilbert about a mile from white plains on Spring Hill Road… My house is of the end of 27
The Kim cam is my favorite view. More Kim, less wing.
Chris. Regarding your ForeFlight which version do you have?
I was particularly interested in your power setting discussion. Is there a reason why you do not descend using the autopilot and adjust the throttles for the desired airspeed?
Wait - GSP "our new home"?? Did I miss something earlier???
Kris, why do you not manage the engines LOP (lean of peak)? Is it a personal preference or an engine manufacturer limitation?
Love the videos!
can we see more of Kims flight training

I'm going to use these power settings with my A2A Simulations V35B Bonanza in Lockheed Martin Prepared 3D V5.2 flight sim
Great video. How do you overlay a DP with georeference. I have been able to overlay the gov charts. Is it a Jeppesen feature?
Thanks

Have to calculate that 17 knot tail wind you had in there. Reduced rpm may have saved you a gallon or more.
Rudder Pedals question? Does the seat pull forward enough? Can Kim reach the rudder pedals?
"When I was a renter I would have made Charlie" LOL... yup... unless the owner / instructor is in the aircraft with you.
GSP! My area!
Come see us at KPWM sometime. I'll buy you 2 lobster!!
do you have to "tweak" one engine or do both engines react to the same setting.
I fly lean of peak on longer flights of over 1 hour. If I run rich of peak my mechanic says it’s running to rich. What is your thinking running rich of peak?

time for a wedding

are all pilots so "into" these sort of mathematical minutiae? (I know I love this stuff!)
The “cheap” ones are. So yeah, that’s most of us. 😎
Kim’s rack looks great! Nice video
Hey, did Kim get to swim??
Seems like frequency of the “hum” is lower at lower RPM. Matter of taste, but prefer lower freq. moot point with NC headset.
The FBO guy tosses you the keys when you walk in with your lovely co-pilot. Coincidence? 😂✈️
One dB is a 12.5% difference (for audio power). Therefore 3 dB is a 42% sound power increase.
Kris is a sound guy and knows dB's so there must be a non tecnical reason for his comment.
@@paratyshow I know
That’s why they have all those pesky different dB notations, dBm, dBu, dBFS, dBZ, and many, many more.
4:09....I forgot the BACON.
👋 B1P
Milwaukee is in WI not MI. Check the title.

does Kim have Instagram? holy hottness! 😍😍❤️❤️
