Completely tore my right Achilles’ tendon while deployed to the Middle East. I was medevac’d to Germany for immediate orthopedic surgery. Surgery was successful, but always had sustained pain while running. I could tolerate it for the first few years, but now I avoid running altogether, especially when it’s over one mile.
Great video! I had a bone graft and lesion removal from my already service-connected right knee (radiculathapy). There was a DTA error for my denied Sep 22 claim to see if I can get TDIU. Will this surgery at least qualify me for temporary TDIU while I wait? Thank you!
Can I file a claim for code 5219 , right hand with thumb and index finger to the same hand, dominant hand? I currently have a max rating to my right thumb, 5228 @ 20% and right index finger max rating, 5229 @10% =30% , shouldn't I be rated 40% for having two max ratings on my right hand (dominant) instead of individual ratings? OR, can I file 5219 in addition to the two individual?
Excellent video ladies! I have a question for Rachel. I served in the US Army from 1984 to 1994 and was involved in a car accident in 1988. No mention of the accident is in my military medical records but Allstate Insurance Company had records of the accident and sent me an affidavit with all the pertinent details (date of accident, incident number, place of accident) on Allstate letterhead. Would the affidavit suffice the evidence requirement as proof of a in service event? Thank you,
Based on my experience as a Veteran Advocate, that is Evidence, just like layman's Letter is Considered Evidence. Get with a VSO in you Area and he/she will put that with your VA claim Documents, make a few copies of it one for yourself and give one to you Primary Care Doctor to put in your records or send them a copy of it certified mail so you know that they received it...
In curious if that type of injury is covered. Your active duty they own you 24/7 365 and you get injured day off requires hospitalize and surgery....can I file 20 years later?
I have a 10% back disability and was going to file for secondary anxiety, but my psychologist who diagnosed me with anxiety said that even though she feels it is service connected that the VA won't award it because my primary disability is too low and that I need to increase that first before trying for anxiety? Is this true, do I need to wait? Even though the Dr thinks it is clearly connected. Thanks!
Hi Steve, this is a good question. If the doctor thinks it's related to your service connected back problem then that's already a step up for you. Sounds like this may be worth pursuing. Here's our video on VA benefits for anxiety: ruclips.net/video/ILc_aaLWS6w/видео.html
@@HillAndPonton Great. Thanks. I will file for the mental health side now because my somatic symptom disorder is higher than PTSD baseline tests. I served 4 years in the navy and two months prior to my discharge i was hit by a hit and run driver and was on restriction for four week when the doctor told me to come off restriction or thay would give me a medical discharge at this point i only had 4 week to get my honorable discharge so i went back to work thay said there was nothing wrong with my knees or back one week ago i went to a orthopedic thay took xrays of my knees and guess what thay found a broken bone ive had many xrays over the years by hospitals and no one was able to see a broken bone im pissed what can i do plus ive had 4 back surgerys that the va said its not service connected. When people hear "Active Duty" it states that someone lived or was stationed at any Active Duty base. I am trying to get clarification and guidance on Active Guard Reserves (AGR). I get the same entitlements, benefits and pay, just I work full time for a Reserve Center. I will still get a DD form 214 when I leave the AGR Program. With being an AGR member, I may not always be stationed at an Active Duty base, infact all my positions were either 50 miles fro. An Active duty base or not near one at all. All my medical issues were seen by a civilian doctors and not by a Medical Doctor. How does that play into the VA spectrum?
Hello I recently started my medboard process for my shin splints and back I’ve been doing research. I read I could receive up to 30% for shin splints for both my legs have been hurting for years. The requirements for 30% is that I’ve done surgery and received help from orthopedic, inserts etc. I’ve never gotten surgery only other helpful matters and they seem to still cause me pain do you think I can receive 30% still?
I served in the army for 4 years and was a paratrooper. I did numerous jumps out of many types of aircraft. All of these jumps were done in military boots. Paratrooper jumps were considered hazardous duty and I got extra pay for it. I also did a lot of lifting heavy military equipment Like communication receivers and heavy duty phone cables. I also had to do PT running 4 miles a day and other exercises in my military jump boots. I never went to sick call. I am 61 now so I have been out a little over 30 years. My left inner knee has started to bother me with pain when I walk and when I have to climb steps or get up from the ground. This all started back some 10 years ago. I am wondering if my military service contributed to my knee pain and do you think I have a serious case. I am concern that since I have been out for so long the military won’t take my case seriously. Any advice would be appreciated
Hmmm. I had a growth in my foot while on AD. VA gave me 0 percent, over the the years it’s caused lots of pain, va just did surgery on it and it’s it’s grown back. Va still rated at zero
I was also involved in a car accident while on service, however I was at fault in the crash, nothing illegal involved. Could I file for a neck injury even though I was at fault? Thank you for the great content!
So I had a back injury while in the service and I'm only rated for the radiculopahty in my legs, can I file for my back since I needed surgery later on in life?
Being a crewmmember on a M88 Recovery Vehicle, for approximately 20 years in the NG, couldn't have caused any Orthopedic Conditions. So I've been told. LOL
I’m currently at 60% for my gout and my condition has gotten a lot worse to the point of me not being able to get out of bed and I’m not sure what I should do :/ I’ve been watching your videos and I appreciate all the service you have done for veterans. Thank you so much
I have a condition for both my knees & lower back. I'm retired 30yrs Air Force (6active,14Reserves). I'm denied because they say "Not service connected." I am being treated by VA (thank God). I have been hurt during my service time. Unfortunately, I did not go to the clinic because I did not want to be grounded. How can I get a Nexus showing?
You would have to ask your VA PCP to write a letter( which is your Nexus) stating his or her medical opinion that your injuries are service related.Tell your story of how this occurred so the PCP can form an a medical opinion that this "most likely " is a result of your military service.
@@Johnny-pp3pq Thank you for your answer. I have mentioned that very thing, but I believe he is scared to or do not care. It took me a year & a half just to have him give me a permanent handy cap letter instead of a temp. I will be switching PCP soon anyways. I will talk to the new PCP. Again Thank you!
Will on active duty I was thrown off a horse and was kicked and stomped on my back and the doctors told me I had severed nerves among other things, but it was in 1977 and was also told to take these pills and suck it up and go back to work. Could I file a claim for that
@@AedanBlackheart I believe so that's what the doctor told me, weather or not that's what he put in my medical records is yet to be determined. I'm still waiting for my medical records to be sent to me, I filled out the form online and have a confirmation number but haven't received anything yet
Excellent video. Even though I was on a LimDu board for 1 year and went through Physical Therapy during my time in.
I gotta raise my knees to sleep.. and it still sucks.. I went to the doc and told her to place her hand on my knee. Feel the grind 😂 but I got 20% each knee
I had a horse fall on my leg while on active duty and was hospitalized overnite , but didn't file a complaint on the results of this incident on my knee until 15 -20 yrs later. The occasional pain was taken care of by an NSAID until surgery was needed for arthritic knee spurs.
