@@BrianLagerstrom 29:20 Sparkling Water "What are you gonna do?" Answer: Get a Soda Stream. 20:00 Being Cantonese myself, I say with confidence that "Red Boat" is a 'nice try' there are MUCH better fish sauces and vinegars out there that you can find in Asian groceries. Channels like Chinese Cooking Demystified, Hot Thai Kitchen, Souped Up Recipes deep dive into specific ingredients and tell you what brands are best and why. On calories, fat and oil are *healthy* for you. There is documented evidence and it is true that the sugar industry went after fat-for profit. It worked. American't have been brainwashed. Our brains need fat to function. It's not about calories. It's about what you eat, the quality of the ingredients and the frequency. Plus you'll be more satiated and full if you eat real food, fat included resulting in more nutrient density and will actually end up consuming less. Organic *does* matter. Put a cup of pesticide in front of you vs water which are you going to choose. Just because you can't see it does not mean it's not there.
Of all the food-tubers, I enjoy your channel the most. I've made the most recipes from this one, with a super high success rate among them. Keep up the great work :D EDIT: actually, shared favourite with Kenji
Really high success rate, here, too. I must admit that whenever I search recipes on the 'tube I start with "[insert food item here] lagerstrom". Always happy when it hits.
@@BrianLagerstrom I've been around since early days of Weeds&Sardines and I have to say it's amazing to see how much you've grown and improved over the years! Favorite YT chef :) thank you for all the recipes!

I respect Brian so much for putting so much money and time into these videos. There are millions of shitty fake recipes that look great on video but never works out even when you follow them perfectly. By watching your videos and other chef's and comparing them to each other I have gotten so much better at spotting those key elements that some videos cut out and it has upped my home cooking so much! Your channel has quickly grown into me and my wife’s most watched RUclips food channel. But we don’t only watch it, we make most of your recipes! Please keep bringing content that is actually accessible and doable for the home cook. You make recipes we WANT to make!
Don’t normally watch the Q&A style vids, or even think about commenting on them, but Brian definitely feels like someone I’d want to be friends with and the content really portrays that wholesomeness. Great video and thank you for giving us some insight into your methods, processes, and lives.

Bri and Lorn, I used to be in books. What you need is a publisher to swoop in and augment your RUclips publishing schedule and make a fun, image-soaked book that incorporates the vibe of your channel. I say this because a BOOK can add to the channel and add to speaking appearances and your travel. It needn't be a chore to do a book. There’s literally no other RUclips channel I’d watch an hour Q&A video on but you’re the one! I’m glad to hear of the upcoming stuff. Great channel, great content.
@2:23 THIS. Especially when a huge part of the joy you find in cooking is watching people enjoy something you make. I really experienced this for the first time around a year ago. I live pretty far away from most of my family, so we only really see each other around the holidays. And in the year leading up to last Thanksgiving, I had (in my mind and taste) perfected a chili recipe and had volunteered to make a giant pot of it for my family (around 20 people). I found dried chiles locally, went through the multiple hour process, following my recipe religiously, gassing up how good it was going to be, and at the end, it was just sort of flat compared to when I made it at home. I was so crestfallen. And it's not like my family was let down. I'm basically the one person who finds joy in cooking, so by their measure it was GREAT but man the pain of knowing it wasn't the experience I wanted to give them sucked for, like, a few days.
I know both of you work very, very hard and your videos clearly show your effort. Yours is one of three that I always reference -- and the other two are for baking desserts --- mostly. Ina Garten is here on the East Coast -- has been around forever and is always my go to. But as a younger generation -- you are always my reference and your Midwest sensibility is always appreciated! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for all your time and energy in your consistently awesome content! Side note I opened my dream coffee / ice cream shop at 42yrs old after 17 yrs in the restaurant industry. That being said sadly I signed the lease in a booming economy here in Washington state.....guess when....2 months before Covid hit. We were one of the last states to reopen so after fighting an up hill battle I made the decision for the our family to stop loosing money and close the shop in July of this year. This broke me. Shortly after I found your channel and quite frankly you may have saved me from a much deeper depression than I might have fallen into. Making bread and pizza from scratch has been my go to meditation thanks to your vids! My friends probably know you by name because Ive quoted your recipes so many times! So with all of that your very genuine thank you at the end of the video was so appreciated and I would like to THANK YOU from my family to you and yours!
So glad I subscribed to you at 15k. I have actually Cooked more of your recipes than any other food creator. And I have eaten a lot of food creator content but not their recipes. Your approachable style and love of cooking and humility is what has kept me trying.

I have enjoyed so many of Brian's recipes that I feel I can handle and have benefited greatly from this channel, thanks Brian. I want to see a Brian, Sam, Adam, Kenji, Chef John roundtable.
Ending the Q&A show with a short bloopers reel would be fun. Keep up the great work, and I watch all your videos as it gives me great inspiration to my own home cooking.
The fact you are so passionate about the recipes you present on your channel is why your channel is doing so well!! We all make mistakes and I always admire channels that show those mistakes rather than pretending they are a perfect chef!! Thanks for all the recipes!
Brian ...I've been cooking for over 30 years and I taught cooking classes for 5. I usually don't make other people's recipes because I find they usually aren't very good. So I make my own. I have used some of yours but adjust them to be appropriate for my diabetic husband. You're good and I appreciate you, your wife, and this channel. I like our perspective and your peanut dressing was delicious. And, using cornstarch to thicken cheese sauce had really good results. I made a mac and cheese with it in my Christmas spread and my extended family of 30+ people devoured it.
This is my favorite food channel. I have made more dishes from your channel than any other. Several of them have been big family hits and are now our new staples. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. You give me the courage to try recipes I didn't think I could do and turn out amazing.
When you said one of your goals was to make your videos more clear and concise, I was like, "Huh?!?" Your videos are among the most clear, concise, and effective at conveying concepts out there.
Your channel is my go-to, I rewatch and appreciate all the details. Love the real people side of this and your humility seals the deal. Yall ignite my passion for cooking, for food cultures and life balance. thank you both.
Greetings from Jacksonville Florida USA. Brian, your recipes and techniques are first class. Your hard work pays off for your viewers. Thank you for doing this.
I've been watching your videos for some time now Brian. This was a great video and gave a lot of insight as to how you think and do things. Keep being you man, much love!
I love these chitchat videos! And after hearing the "dealing with failure portion", you absolutely need a secondary channel with behind the scene footage like a diary, not much editing etc!!
I like to watch youtube cooking shows. I like yours because you teach me how to cook familiar dishes better. I have been home cooking for ~70 years but I am still learning. Thanks for helping that.
This was fun! I hope you guys continue to succeed and have fun doing what you love and that you guys always remember that there's plenty of people out there cheering you on to be prosperous, healthy, and happy! Thank you for sharing the videos and food!

Just wanted to say thank you for what you do. Creating accessible and easy to follow recipes, using ingredients you can find all over the world, its mad that anyone can do with your help. I personally cook by your videos every week and improved drastically in short period of time. Your burgers, brownies are on constant rotation. Thank you from all over the world
You're welcome, and thank you! I love your channel for a lot of different reasons... I like your attitude, I like that you tend toward the 'real world' (accessible ingredients, equipment, and techniques) but more than anything I think you are entertaining and not trying to be a show off. ... which is the authentic humility of a someone that has nothing to prove. Thanks again Brian and Lorn!
I just wanted to say that the more videos I watch that you create the more I appreciate your talent for cooking and creating. You can tell how much passion and effort you put in and how much you really enjoy creating awesome videos for us. Thank you!
We just referenced your smash burger video for our first ever homemade (and freshly ground meat) burgers and they were THE BEST. I super appreciate your practical and approachable recipes. Just added a pizza steel to our wedding registry, excited to cook our way through your pizza videos!
It is my favourite cooking channel. I have done a lot of your recipes and all of them turned out superb. A lot of channels are not even close to your level of honesty and creativity. Thank you very very much.
I just found your channel, LOVE IT. Been marathoning n forwarding videos to friends, you 2 are awesome. I haven't watched food network for 10 years, youtube has the REAL shows. You are doing a GREAT job, I appreciate all your hard work.
Love love love. So happy I found your channel. I have tried 4 times to make a sourdough starter. It took me a while to come across your channel, but I finally found your recipe, and it worked!!! I am mixing loafs 11 and 12 today and following your Union Loafer recipe. Every loaf has been delicious. I am trying to figure out how to use my kitchenaid to mix. The first time I tried, the dough was super sticky. I don't think I mixed it long enough. The dough didn't rise as much either. Praying I get better results today. Thank you for all your talents and wisdom.
So enjoy the channel. And the beef stew was beyond amazing! I look forward to it each week I and continually refer you to my friends! Grateful to have you to follow!!
I love this channel so much. There are recipes that I actually can and do make. But as much as I enjoy those, these occasional Q&A's are simply the best. The interaction between the two of you and the honest and genuine answers are so much fun. Thanks for all you do.
Love u guys sooo much. Please don’t go anywhere anytime soon.. or ever! Seriously one of my favorite go-to channels. Have learned and laughed so much since I first tuned in and have been obsessed ever since!
I LIKE your flavor forward approach! Thanks for sticking to your choice. Too many recipes fail to offer a standout flavor profile. Let's face it. If I want bland and ordinary, I can get a box or buy off the shelf. When I get to cook, I want to impress. I cook as a gift, a love offering, a celebration. And that means I want a wow factor, a memorable flavor. And you offer that. So, I'll be checking out more of your videos. Thanks again
Your content is fucking amazing dude. The amount of knowledge in your videos actually can't be compared. The world's top chefs haven't found a way to deliver boring information so well and easy to digest. You and your wife are and inspiration to me and mine. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Just wanna say thanks for the contents you put out. I already tried three of your recipes and they turned out amazing. I can't believe I can make delicious restaurant level food just by following your videos. I've been watching food channels for over a year now, and your recipes are the ones I decided to try first. They are beyond amazing, and definitely something I can show off to my friends and family.
I'm so glad Adam had you on his podcast last year and lead me to discover your channel. You've quickly become one of my favorite channels! I really appreciate everything you put into your content and hope more and more people come to discover it for themselves.
This is the first AMA I've seen since subscribing and I loved it way more than I thought I would. Super fun! You're content is great and though I enjoy a lot of the other food creator channels a lot as well, I've actually made more from your channel because it hits the sweet spot for delivering flavor while not taking 40 hours for a meal.
We get to see a fair amount of your personality and humor through your scripts, but man, these free form vids are so fun for getting to see the real Bri and the real Lorn. Both of you are just rays of sunshine, incredibly intelligent, and seem to be really great people. Thank YOU for almost 3 years of content! To many more as well, Best wishes, best health -Kyle
Since Jan 1 I have done all the cooking for my family (6 of us!). I have tried soooo many of your videos and they have all been grand slams. I'm making bread regularly now as well. YOU DA MAN Brian. Thank you for sparking this crazy obsession.
I made a tomato and bacon pasta using the techniques I’ve learnt from your channel and it was amazing! My kids loved it, and that is my everything. You helped make that possible. Thank you.
I loooove this channel in general but man it is so fun watching these Q&A's too! Absolutely adore this channel, thanks both of you, for doing what you do!
Watching these vids have improved my cooking game a lot (and I wasn't horrible before) and my baking game by probably three hundred percent! Thanks Bri and Lorn!
Friendship in a relationship matters first! That you covered the aspect of your work and marriage relationship, I think you both rock! Yes, we all love your content!!!
I worked for a wonderful boss who taught me that if I have to start all over again, it is just an opportunity to do it better the next time. Love you both!
The thing I love about your channel and Chef John (and Alton Brown back in the day) is you explain the "why" behind the recipes instead of just the "how." Anyone can read a recipe into a microphone and cook it, but it takes some real thought to explain the why.
Best food related channel for sure. My saved recipes tab is almost all your content. Everything I've tried so far is amazing, my overall skills/knowledge has improved. Keep it comin!
Brian answering one of my submitted questions ✅. Haven’t gotten on the chili crisp train yet, but will definitely be trying it out soon! Been watching since the Weeds and Sardines era, and have made more of your recipes than any other cooking channel. Amazing stuff, Bri!
Brian! I just “discovered” your channel and I’m now obsessed ! I started with your Beef Stroganoff and I was hooked! I’m on to your quiche this weekend and I’ve shared your videos with my adult kids. You are fantastic!
I watch a lot of cooking channels and you’re top 5 for sure. Thank you for all the work you put into these videos. It means so much knowing I can trust the videos you put out.
I just found your broadcast, have learned lot in a short time and am looking forward to learning more. Have you considered adding closed captioning? I'm in the United States (southern part) and sometimes just don't catch your every word - hate to miss anything.

Please, please, please do a podcast. That video was fantastic. Loved listening to you both!
1 Million here you come. Keep up the great work. Your recipies are always the ones I come back to and tout to all my friends/family.
This is the best Q&A I’ve ever seen! You two make a killer team 💚
I've been watching your videos for some time now Brian. This was a great video and gave a lot of insight as to how you think and do things. Keep being you man, much love!
darn it, I should've started my comment with "Hey, What's up?" missed opportunity 😂
Thanks very much for watching Nayel
I love these chitchat videos! And after hearing the "dealing with failure portion", you absolutely need a secondary channel with behind the scene footage like a diary, not much editing etc!!
You both are so adorable together! Love everything you put into this channel!
I like to watch youtube cooking shows. I like yours because you teach me how to cook familiar dishes better. I have been home cooking for ~70 years but I am still learning. Thanks for helping that.
Thank you so much
Wow I can't believe it's almost 3 years already. Congrats on all the success Brian and Lorn and here's hoping for many more great years to come!
This was fun! I hope you guys continue to succeed and have fun doing what you love and that you guys always remember that there's plenty of people out there cheering you on to be prosperous, healthy, and happy! Thank you for sharing the videos and food!
Thanks for watching Julie! Truly
To the cookbook thing: youre literally the first cooking RUclipsr to be upfront on this, that is a very respectable.
Great video. Best of luck for the future.
49:40 Green Mars, Kim Stanley Robinson): heck yeah. (And all his other Mars books.) (And all his other non-Mars books, especially Years of Rice and Salt.)
Awesome! Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your life with us!
I loved this interview and how Lauren kept touching you! So, so sweet!
You guys are so natural. Felt like I was sitting across the table and you both were just talking to me !!
Glad you like them!
Love u guys sooo much. Please don’t go anywhere anytime soon.. or ever! Seriously one of my favorite go-to channels. Have learned and laughed so much since I first tuned in and have been obsessed ever since!
Love this channel, subscribed immediately when I saw you use a scale and metric measurements, such a better easier way to cook.
Thank you! Love seeing you two together.
Love your channel. Love your approach to life, work, & food .
We weekly replicate these recipes for date night inn, love this channel
Lauren and Brian, Thanks for the Q and A vlog. Love the channel and looking forward to see what you bring back to show us based on your travels.
Thanks for watching Ken!
As someone with Celiac disease I appreciate the info in recipes where substitution can occur, or any info really. Super helpful, thank you!
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate your honesty and sincerity. Also appreciate how you guys are real and down to earth. God bless you.
Really enjoyed this video. What comes across to me is how much work you put in and truly care about the end result. Thanks.
To many more as well,
Best wishes, best health
-Kyle
I am so glad to hear that you love creating your video, because I LOVE watching them!!!!!
Thank you so much for answering all these questions.
I love hearing what you think about all things cooking!
Since Jan 1 I have done all the cooking for my family (6 of us!). I have tried soooo many of your videos and they have all been grand slams. I'm making bread regularly now as well. YOU DA MAN Brian. Thank you for sparking this crazy obsession.
I for one would LOVE to see a collab where Claire Saffitz teaches you the ways of fancy pastry baking
Great questions, great answers and great dancing!!!
I love your answer to the cooking show contests. You are so correct!
Brian answering one of my submitted questions ✅. Haven’t gotten on the chili crisp train yet, but will definitely be trying it out soon! Been watching since the Weeds and Sardines era, and have made more of your recipes than any other cooking channel. Amazing stuff, Bri!
Dude, y’all are couple goals!! Loved the video, love your honesty and willingness to be open! Keep it rockin!
What I love about your recipes is that they are so accessible and tasty. I have made and enjoyed more of your recipes, than any other YouTuder.
I just found your broadcast, have learned lot in a short time and am looking forward to learning more. Have you considered adding closed captioning? I'm in the United States (southern part) and sometimes just don't catch your every word - hate to miss anything.
