"Saturate Me" from Riverside's "Love, Fear and the Time Machine" album (20). This has to be the most difficult song on the entire album. Those first two minutes require some real stamina since you have to downstroke every single note. Anyway, most of the intro is in 7/4 which is an unusual time signature. However, once you know how to play the riffs, it pretty much feels like a 4/4 song. Later on I switch between 10/4 and 12/4, just because it is easier to look at. You don't want 50 bars of 7/8--9/8 if you can have 10 bars of 10-12/4. Anyway, the two minutes after the intro are not very interesting, just some notes that follow the vocals, and some typical Duda chorus riffs. At 4:31 we get to the fun stuff. So as I said, it begins in 9/4, then it switches between 10/4 and 12/4, but you just gotta know the riffs instead of counting to 12. At some point In the video, I zone out completely and forget where I was which is something you should try to avoid. Anyway, this bit goes on for a couple of minutes and then we drop the pick and play the last soft notes, obviously, without a pick. I'm not sure if this one beats the Caterpillar and the Barbed Wire grooves, but it definitely is a contender.
