Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed exploring this area with me. In my opinion, it's the loveliest part of Siem Reap and very pleasant for walking. I hope the video footage is ok as when I started, it was still quite dark.

A woman walking out at 5.15 a.m. by herself in a city, clearly feeling completely safe - speaks volumes about the wonder of Siem Reap. I can feel the extraordinarily peaceful spirit of the place as you walk...Keep walking, Claire!

Hi! Just a few comments - it's not actually a river, it's a huge drainage channel. You can see that from the numerous pipes that dangle out of the banks. (I call it 'the river that doesn't flow'.) Secondly, I think there are several more beautiful parts. Even if you carry on going straight (over NR6) instead of crossing back and turning left, that area is even more peaceful and picturesque. Moreover, I'd suggest the following: The ride out to Preah Dak Village, the ride out to the Boo Young Golf Resort, the ride along the old Airport Road up to AW (try to catch the herd of goats!) and the ride down BBU Road right down until you are about 10km down NR6.
Thanks for the great video! Oh! Another one I've just remembered - turn left on BBU Road after about 1k and head out to the Temple on top of a very steep hill. Sadly, the floating Village at the end of Highway 63 has disappeared now.
Thanks again - I've sent the URL to friends and family back home.

It's called Siem Reap River on Google maps and it seems to be fed by several lakes further up. They Dam it so it doesn't run dry, but in the wet season it will flow into the Lake.

I am so excited to see how nice it is looking and great news about bike paths. It has been stinking hot in Luang Prabang the last couple of weeks - 40 plus every day. Today it only got to 39 and it was a relief in comparison. I was soaking my clothes just to cook dinner each night as we live in older style house here. No one here remembers it being so hot! I am so happy to see this footage. Cheers

It’s okay….most people’s memories are short for weather related events. Here in North America in the past few years we have had some record cold and snow events in winter.
I’m 71…….it’s been pretty well the same around here since the 1950’s . Hot summers… freezing winters.
I prefer the hot summers. In Chiang Mai, Thailand we had 40° C for many days in a row when I was living there in 2013. But by then I was acclimated and it was easy to ignore it.
It takes me about three weeks to acclimate …..I never turn the air con on. Fans only.

The river is very green because there's essentially no water flow. You've probably seen the work being done on the river banks along the road to Phnom Krom. They've completely blocked off any water getting through at that point. The work seems to be going pretty slowly and in a couple months it'll be a muddy mess.

Yes, I had a poke around over there past the ring road a month or two ago. It looks like they are trying to widen the river to improve the flow. I hope they get whatever they are doing finished before the rain.

There is a lot of smoke and dust around, but there were some blue skies today. So not great but not dangerous.

    Hi Claire,
    Joe here Good Morning.
I love walking and jogging, I will be going on that walk.Claire I’m thinking of booking into a hotel for a few days so I can look around for a apartment to stay.
Can you recommend a hotel we’re I can stay please. Thank you see you in November.
    Regards,
    Joe.

Hi Joe, It's great to hear you have booked flights. We would recommend The Bygone as it's run by the same people who run Heartprint. They do a lot of good in the community, so we support them as much as we can. Did you see the video where I walked around the Angkor Thom wall? It's about 13km and you get to see all 5 gates from a different perspective.
