Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed exploring this area with me. In my opinion, it's the loveliest part of Siem Reap and very pleasant for walking. I hope the video footage is ok as when I started, it was still quite dark.
A woman walking out at 5.15 a.m. by herself in a city, clearly feeling completely safe - speaks volumes about the wonder of Siem Reap. I can feel the extraordinarily peaceful spirit of the place as you walk...Keep walking, Claire!
@ForRiel Oh, I am certainly considering it. I was only hesitating because of the mozzies but you have tried to reassure me on this point in one of your replies. Many thanks.
Great walk! I'm an early riser also. I'm at my favorite noodle shop @ 6am, have my coffee then plan my day of exploring. The cool mornings are tops! 😎👌💐

Hi Claire, I’ve just booked into the Bygone hotel 12 th 13 th 14 th of November. Thank you for that I hope I can find a rental appartment in those 3 days. I hope to meet you both for a drink. Cheers Joe.
Wonderful, I am sure you will be well looked after there. Have a good look in the Facebook groups and on the IPS website in the first week or so of November. That will give you a good sense of what's around.
@ForRiel The prices in Singapore must be something of a shock after living in Siem Reap! Few places in the world are as 'successful' as Singapore, to be fair, and its high standards are laudable.
That is also my morning walk . 5.30 sounds good. Considerably warmer this year. The big trees in this area help a bit. Singapore is humid, great place for morning walks. Cable car to the island is fun. Keep well.
It is a strange thing looking out the window in Malaysia and it being pitch black at 7am. We are looking forward to meeting up again when we get back 😀

That part of the river was never cleaned. Most of the rubbish was cleaned from the FCC. It will be very hot for your friends, I stayed at FCC over the New year so very loud but lovely location if not New year. I do love Singapore but very expensive except for the Hawker centres
Hi! Just a few comments - it's not actually a river, it's a huge drainage channel. You can see that from the numerous pipes that dangle out of the banks. (I call it 'the river that doesn't flow'.) Secondly, I think there are several more beautiful parts. Even if you carry on going straight (over NR6) instead of crossing back and turning left, that area is even more peaceful and picturesque. Moreover, I'd suggest the following: The ride out to Preah Dak Village, the ride out to the Boo Young Golf Resort, the ride along the old Airport Road up to AW (try to catch the herd of goats!) and the ride down BBU Road right down until you are about 10km down NR6. Thanks for the great video! Oh! Another one I've just remembered - turn left on BBU Road after about 1k and head out to the Temple on top of a very steep hill. Sadly, the floating Village at the end of Highway 63 has disappeared now. Thanks again - I've sent the URL to friends and family back home.
It's called Siem Reap River on Google maps and it seems to be fed by several lakes further up. They Dam it so it doesn't run dry, but in the wet season it will flow into the Lake.
Thanks Claire. It is great to see how it looks now. It is one of our favourite areas in town and we are staying just north and across the river from Peace Cafe when we visit in July August. I am so excited to see how nice it is looking and great news about bike paths. It has been stinking hot in Luang Prabang the last couple of weeks - 40 plus every day. Today it only got to 39 and it was a relief in comparison. I was soaking my clothes just to cook dinner each night as we live in older style house here. No one here remembers it being so hot! I am so happy to see this footage. Cheers
