I hope to make a pilgrimage to the cathedral to venerate the relics of Saint John. By his prayers and the oil from his lampada, I have a leg injury that was healed. The doctor was amazed at my recovery. Saint John, intercede to the Lord for us!
I've been Orthodox for just over a year now but couldn't decide who to choose for a patron saint. Finally decided on St John of SF. Am so moved by his life! Thanks for this video.
Holy Fr. St John Maximovitch, please pray for me,Monica & my children, Gregorius, Anastasia, Eleftherios, Lucia & my grand children, Joseph, Catherine, Remigius, have mercy on us & save us ❤
When i still lived in SF i used to catch the bus right across the street from this church on Geary. I had no idea what orthodoxy was at the time. I moved out of state and last year i discovered orthodoxy and my wife and i are catechumen. Our church is named after St. John of shanghai and SF. Funny how that worked. Perhaps St. John saw us sitting at that bus stop and helped lead us to orthodoxy. Praise God! ☦
I have Holy Oil and holy cards of this Beloved Vladyka ...Mr Troyan sent me a package years ago. At St Alexsnder Nevsky in Howell NJ...I light my candle by his holy icon when I visit.
Damn, I lived in the Richmond District and used to go by this Cathedral all the time. I was always curious to see the inside, but I was too intimated. I didn't know anything about the Orthodox faith and didn't know if "strangers" would be welcome. Now I live far away and wish I'd gotten up the nerve to go in.
Right, I see people visiting from far away places as this Church is very revered. I recommend you read or watch a video of the Saint in the Church - Saint John of Shanghai and San Francisco. Very moving and spiritual. I feel the more you read about Orthodox faith, you feel the need to learn more and dive deeper.
Please come by the next time you are here. Everyone is welcome. The Orthodox church will always have its arms open to anyone. My family is lucky enough to have known Saint John very well. He used to come over to my dads house for brunch after church. My uncles and dad were his alter boys. When Saint John died his "sluzhebnik" (prayer book) was given to my dad which he still has. This same book was handed down to St John by other Archbishops and is several hundred years old. I've had the privelage of reading from it a few times and everytime I do I cannot feel my legs under me. I am being held by an indescribable force. St John and this church are very special. I'm lucky to be a member of the choir. At 37 I've been in the choir for 18 years now. Wouldn't trade it for all of the riches in world.

Body of the Saint does not look exactly like when he was living because there is no blood flow and and organs are not working obviously. Incorrupt means that it did not decay after being burried, and continues to be. If you read about his life, and what he has done before and after his passing, you will get a better understanding.

I mean if it were corrupt. It would be clean bones after like 58 years? Saint John reposed in 1966 if I recall correctly.
