It's people like you who help in so many ways! I'm 32 years old and have never understood Guitar…I tried but I just couldn't do it. At least I thought I couldn't. I was in a cover band with 5 guys and they were a bunch of jerks. I said I wanted to be more than just a pretty face singer and that I was going to learn guitar and play on stage along with them for shows but the Guitarist told me I would only mess things up. So I went home and told myself no more giving up because now I felt something to prove. It's been about 3/4 months and I've devoted spending hours a day watching videos and practicing. Despite the hurt fingers! I got past that…But because of your generosity sharing your knowledge and talent along with other Guitarists, I'm so much further a head and things are making sense now. I will be on my way to playing on stage ALONE very soon here. I am a subscriber and without a doubt I will continue to watch your videos! Thank you from Las Vegas!

+Mark TheGuitarGuy Complete gratitude here, as I'm sure the rest of the viewers feel the same. I actually really enjoy this 6/8 strum pattern, it's really pretty when you mix up the chords within it as you said. Thanks for reply and I will enjoy every chord!! :)

WOW! Thank you Mark for sharing what you know about guitar.
You have a great way of setting me at ease. I am a beginner and in my mid 60's but have been playing since January of this year and it's first of August.
Hardest part so far is relaxing my strumming wrist so I really sound very hard and not smooth.
But I will keep working on it and watching your videos.
Again thank you for sharing and giving your time to teaching.

the best thing about videos are they are short and precise. unlike many others, you get straight to the point and stay on track. ALL of your videos are very informative, not boring, amazing and most importantly encouraging. thanks, the guitar guy. :) keep rocking, tic-tocking :p

Gonna try this pattern with accents to "I Loved Her First" -- Heartland -- for my daughter's wedding in October; so lots of time to get it right. I'm told tempo is ~68 bpm. Wish me luck. Self-taught over past four years but have no sense of rhythm so it all sounds the same whatever the strum pattern. I (mostly) despair.

Thanks Mark. I really feel there is a way forward for me. I've had some very weird teachers. One guy kept on changing the rhythm by throwing in an extra strum every now and then. I couldn't understand why I was out of beat until I pointed that out to him, but he said it doesn't matter, it's part of creating your own "feel".

Hi Mark!!! I stumbled upon you a few weeks ago and wanted you to know how much I absolutley LOVE your approach to teaching guitar. I have been trying to play on my own for the past 2 years with little success. You have taken it to the next level for me!! YAY!!! I don't know if you already do this somewhere but could you consider giving a list of a few songs to try and play after teaching a specific strum pattern??? THANK YOU!!
