Thanks for sharing your tricks ! There’s a guy & his team whom run an Ariel sales & installation business in Northern England which has a very informative website called ATV Ariels Sheffield which goes the whole hog on all the factors and equipment required for good reception but even he states in one passage “ tv reception IS a Dark Art “ - I guess to explain how sometimes the most unexpected results can occur in spite of all the logic , experience and rational procedures one applies ! I so regret not doing your job instead of 40 years in gas central heating and bathrooms …👍😁from a wooded area in southern England called the new forest .
@@GrantsPassTVRepair, I'm going to try to pay you back a little for all you teach us. Blue dawn dish soap and water for anything 'poison' after you touch it. I first came to the realization a while ago that it might work when I stopped and thought about how they used it to clean animals that got caught it oil spills. Since the stuff from the plants that jacks up your immune system and causes the rash is an oil? I started giving it a try to clean my skin. Now, I reach in and pull poison ivy out by the roots bare handed. And am always sure to have a plastic cup of heavy blue dawn ratio to water mix handy to scrub up with within an hour or so at the most. I've had no rashes at all since.
THAT looks good. Walk down a street in britain with that and nobody will bother you - even criminals will cross the road cos they’ll not know if you’re looking for Ghosts , Gas or Gales .... Impressive 😃from Wessex
Ahh Ha! Thats what I need..LOl.. Ok, I'm at a loss on what happened to my signal on one of my channels here in Wisconsin. I am 80 miles from the channels and I had everything coming in perfect intill NBC dropping off out about two weeks ago. I called the engineers yesterday and they confirmed there was no trouble with the signal tower. I'm at a loss as to whats wrong as I'm getting ABC, FOX, PBS and CBS full strength? Could it possibly be my signal amplifier right at the antenna...on a 45 foot tower... Thank you young man!
Could you explain about the signal meter, I bought the Winegard Signal Meter like yours plus a small twelve volt acid battery and a small Directional Antenna and when I hooked it up it does not get the channels from our local area but it seems that it picks up a few satellite stations for what I believe it was designed for on the RV's, would you be so kind to enlighten me about how you are able to point it in the direction of the TV towers and have an idea what station it is picking up? A TV with built in Signal meter only goes up to about 27-30 dbs how are you able to know lets say, on the tv a number 25 DB would be on the scale of the Winegard from 0-100? If you could shed some light on this it would make me very happy because I have been thinking this thing is not going to be able to help me so I have been contemplating about throwing it away even though the Winegard cost just shy of 100 bucks. What I like doing is building the 4 bay TV antenna for friends and family and was hoping that this unit would be able to help me in finding the best location to install their TV antenna. I only charge them for the material because I am retired 70 yrs of age and I truly love to help people and am welling to give my time for free just so that I made someone happy for what I have done for them.
Youare better off using a digital to analogue converter as I mention in this video link. ruclips.net/video/AzxIjQt8zlI/видео.html The winegard signal meter I demonstrated is ideally designed for RV antennas.
I posted this link to another video I made on signal meters. In this video you will find the model numbers which you can use to find a local seller close to you. ruclips.net/video/AzxIjQt8zlI/видео.html
It's like a car commercial where the owner pulls into his driveway and gets out of the car. Very informative. Those tires are on the car. Awesome.

Sounds like you entered a far more profitable profession than TV antennas. All the best.
Thanks for the tips. I am always happy to see a new video from you. Take care of yourself and that poison oak.
Thanks
Love your vids mate and the way you present them. From the land down under!
Thanks Gary, Your transmission is coming in well here in Grants Pass Oregon. :-)
How extensive are the fires down there?
@@mwngw They can get pretty bad here in the summer time.
Great video! Very informative, I'm glad I found your channel!

@@russellborrego1689 Thanks. I generally try to avoid the stuff, but should I find myself getting into it again I will have to try it.

A bad TV antenna amplifier is worse than no amplifier at all. You might find this video helpful. ruclips.net/video/UDOvUN7jzHw/видео.html
Very nice little something that you just threw together!

I think it's best you call me with such a detailed question. Mornings are best. You can find my phone number on my website at www.tvrepairinfo.com/
Good info. I wish he would have shown the meter operating.
Oh, How much do one of those contraptions cost? Maybe I can talk my wife into letting me get one as it is my birthday..LOLThank you sir!

Hey Dave, if you're relocating an antenna and find a sweet spot, do you install an in-ground mast...with concrete?
I haven't installed an antenna where I found it necessary to use concrete.
I haven't not installed any antennas in concrete just yet, but I understand some do.
Oh man, you got poison oak from that mission!? I always found the best thing to rid of poison oak quickly is whiskey 🥃
Considering the poison oak leaves had all fallen off the bush, I didn't think the stems would be much of an issue. Another lesson learned.
I like to use scalding hot water. It's not recommended, but it feels so good it almost makes me glad I have poison oak. LOL
