- In Bristow, VA outside of DC. Middletown Dreams from Power Windows, is one of Rush's most under rated songs. Has been one of my favs for decades. Rush FINALLY performed it live again. INCREDIBLE SHOW!

Best song from Power Windows. Its the most epic sounding and Rush sounds best with epic music (Hemispheres, Natural Science).
I'm glad they're putting so much attention on my favorite era, 1984-1989. That was their peak IMHO. Greatest band.
As much as most fans love their new song 'the garden' ...I love this one. Most beautiful bridge of any Rush song, favorite all time lines; dreams flow across the heartland.....
the lyrics are pure genius,,,, brilliant, thnx for sharing
this tour will be my fourth rush show. Every time they've been to London since 2004 (I'm 15) I've seen them. And I'd say that all three times I've seen them live they have continued to amaze me with how wonderful their shows are!
This in a sense was more of a "Time Machine Tour" than their last tour. They pulled out some of their greatest stuff from one of their greatest era's of music. Pulling stuff from Signals, Grace Under Pressure and quite a bit from Power Windows. It's rare to see Rush go back that far and nearly dedicate an entire set from the 1980's. Thank you Rush and Craig Shafer for sharing this rare gem.
Great song indeed by the world's greatest band RUSH.
Saw them play on Sunday Oct. 14 in their hometown Toronto and Manhattan Project replaced this tune, but tonight's show will have Middletown Dreams.
Can't wait to see them again tonight for my 53rd time in another mind blowing sonic bouquet.
Wicked light show and crisp, clear sound are the Rush highest standard.
Rush is the undisputed King of big arena rock concerts.....long live the King!
As maligned as Rush's synth era is by many of the so-called fans, I still maintain Power Windows is a solid and awesome record. This is a song I never thought I'd hear live and was stoked to hear it!!
This song is simply sublime. Were I at this show, I'd be the person in tears of joy mentioned below, because this song truly moves me.
One of the three most underrated Rush songs. Amazing.
Just awesome! I can still recall the tingle-down-the-spine feeling I got the first time I took my newly purchased copy of Power Windows for a spin. This was always one of my faves from that album.
YES WITHOUT ANY DOUBT ! the greatest band on planet earth
I've been listening to this song over and over all summer! Today I learned it's on the setlist! I get to hear this tommorrow or Tuesday in Toronto! F yeah!
Sometimes I think this is one of the best songs ever written & recorded...by anyone!
Best music Rush or the 80's ever gave out!!
Hemispheres is very deep in my heart. Side one is like a Paradise.
A spectacular song. A stunningly good band. No comparison.
This is great, I love PW. Grand Designs and Middletown Dreams are some of my favorite Rush tunes :-) And its funny because ten years ago, this sound was taboo, but now with synths back in mainstream rock, Power Windows suddenly sounds contemporary.
TOP SCORE for Loud and Clear AUDIO in this lovely version,,, TY TY TY
haven't heard this one live since when...1986! Seeing them in Chicago on 9/15. They are changing the setlist for every city so far.
Me and my best friend were totally amazed that we'd have the opportunity to watch Rush playing our favorite song, we were making plans to go and see them live. Sadly he died in a car accident only ten days after this vídeo, at my birthday. It's already ten years, but it feels like it was yesterday. It still hurts to listen to.
I've stopped here because another friend from the gang was gone too soon in a stupid manner. Hope the two are together somewhere and having a great time. Carlos and Marcos, I will love you forever, my friends.
Hi Paulo,
I was really saddened to read that you lost your best friend in a car accident only ten days after this video, at your birthday. I hope you cherish your memories every day of good times spent with him. To me, nothing bonds a friendship better than Rush music, especially Middletown Dreams! I hope this video makes the pain go away some day and you feel great when you watch this. All the best buddy
I literally got chills watching this...amazing.
They actually did it. They freaking put together a rarities set list. And it is HEAVY with songs from my favorite album: POWER FREAKING WINDOWS!
53 shows? That's sweetness! Enjoy & Long live RUSH!
I couldn't see them when they came through Chicago. I love Clockwork, but I FREAKING LOVE Power Windows, so now I have to drive to Cleveland. I'm so glad they're giving the music of Windows the credit and attention it deserves.
One of all time favorites. Great song.
almost was brought to tears when i heard grand designs and this one in Newark. what a freakin amazing show. the setlist for this tour is simply awesome
Live in the D.C. area and I remember attending this concert. It was so awesome. Rush will always will be my favorite band. I recently saw them again at Jiffy Lube Live during their R40 tour.
+Soldierdude R40 was an outstanding performance by this amazing trio as well. Let's hope it wasn't their last. Rush forever dude!
This song is perfection!!
27 years later and they play this like it's brand new....amazing!!!!
So far so good!!
My favorite song off this album.
The Analog Kid and Middletown Dreams are my two most favorite Rush songs evarrrr!
Fantastic Song from a great era
So glad they pulled this out of the vault! Thank you!
this was finally my 1st Rush show all i can say is WOW. i will be attending many more of Rush live!!
I think their greatest era was from 1974-2013.. and counting! LOL
Just saw them Tuesday in Cincinnati for the 51st time. First time since Power Windows tour I've heard MD live as they played the "other" set list last summer in Columbus. This is a great song!
Excellent job on the video Craig!
It's understood, by every single person who'd be elsewhere if they could....
Sounds fantastic!! Pure class!!!
I FRIGGIN CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THEM!!!!! OMG COMON DECEMBER 2nD!!!! I wanna hear this song sooo bad! This is the most emotional song ever in musical historY!
~Alakay
To me, the best period of Rush's discography is their middle period from Moving Pictures through Roll the Bones. The songwriting was solid and soulful, and despite those who hate the synch sound, it added a further dimension to Rush's sound. I consider it the best sci-fi futuristic rock ever, and it sounds even ageless today.. Miiddle period Rush is constantly played in my car and ipod. Just love it.
profatomo I couldn't agree more! The synths from that era still give me chills today. By far, SOLID RUSH yrs indeed.
I love this song! I have been obsessed with the clean tones Alex got on the studio version. Thanks for posting, seeing the in May in Atlantic City, how this is on the set list.
I really love how this song starts slow... But picks up every so swiftly towards the midpoint
What a great song! Hope they play it in St. Louis.
He's a soldier. His ability to articulate words is gone, especially at the higher ranges. But his singing is actually still good in the lower and middle ranges I think. In all honesty though, I don't even care anymore, I'm just glad we can still see them play the songs that we love so much :-)
I love this tune!!!
It does. Amazing tune.
Was my pleasure Mike!
I would have never expected to hear this again. That's 5 songs from Power Windows on this tour - that's amazing!
when all that stuff kicks in at 1:28 i can never get through it with dry eyes def one of the best off the album. all the haters on power windows can hate all they want i think its among their best albums ever....if i had to pick 3 of rushs best albums beside moving pictures i think itd have to be power windows, followed by clockwork angels, then signals no doubt about it something about the blending of distorted guitars and synthesizers has always made my mind go nuts
You're off to a great start, man! Their shows only get better every tour. Enjoy the moments!
seen em in chicago... was glad to hear the power windows tunes ,,,, didnt get to hear this one.... Chicago was Night A setlist....
The hidden gem from Power Windows. Topper!!
Great quality and thanks for posting - went to this show with my brother (with no setlist awareness) and was thrilled to see half of PW performed.
gorgeous setlist!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMFG
Yes, THANK YOU RUSH!
More money. Fanatics will catch back to back shows to hear/see it all. ( ;
Believe me, a lot of us have. Such a treat to finally win the ''Catch Rush jam Middletown Dreams'' lottery!
I agree! My pleasure!
Power Windows is such an amazing album. I was so excited to here them play so many songs from that album. Although, I wish they would have played Mystic Rhythms!
nice real nice thanks for posting, caught this in phoenix having flown over from ireland , cant wait till london and may, thanks again.
Rush doin MIDDLETOWN DREAMS??! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Wwwow! :) Rush changing up the setlist?? Wowwwo!!! This is a Middletown Dream Come TRUE! :-)))
My pleasure!
What an awesome video!!! They are trading this one with Body Electric (also one of my favorites) every other night. Guess that means I gonna have to see them back to back!! Oh, well.... Power Windows is HEAVILY represented on this tour. Wonder what the deal is?
Thanks , been waiting for this for many years. Great version.
What a great quality vid of undeniably best Rush songs. What I can't understand is why they would pass up the chance to play the one song from PW they've never played live- Emotion Detector- when they are out on the road with a string section. Also seems like a big opportunity missed to finally play Losing It, given they have supplementary strings and a focus on Signals thru GUP.
love this song thanks!!!
Power Windows was my first Rush tape. The setlist for this tour looks great!
This is gonna be on the Clockwork Angels Live album. So much great stuff never heard before from Power Windows and Grace Under Pressure. Can't wait.
Was also thrilled. I've waited decades to see them do MD live! Unforgettable night!
Ill be rocking out so hard when they place this at the palace.
I'm so glad they're playing more of their 80's stuff, especially Power Windows, which is my favourite Rush album. Now I can't wait to see them in 2 weeks! :D
This album never needed a 2nd chance to make an unbelievable 1st impression. . .
Manchester UK 22nd May 2013.. Counting the minutes!
They played Marathon on the last tour and it got a really good response. And they have to enjoy it as well. To be honest, I couldn't be happier.
Fact: I did. Fact: I was one of them crying tears of joy!
THIS IS AN EPIC ACHIEVEMENT TO DO LIVE. there is so much going on, did you see Geddy singing, switching to playing keys from bass and back again. damn i love this band.
been looking for this one thanks for posting! was really hoping they'd do this song on this tour!
That night was the first time playing it live since 1985, so I think it went damn near perfecto!
favorite song
OMFG can't believe they're playing this song! SO fucking psyched to see them next week in Newark!!!
Cause ya got great taste! Glad u like!
I still think that their greatest era was 1979-81. I love all their music, but for me it was Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures.
wow !!!!
Hopefully yes.
No doubt. Yeah, their music/live shows can certainly cure diseases!
I totally agree - how do they not do Losing It with a string section!? I'd say that's the number one song I wish they'd do live.. in fact they should play Signals in its entirety!!!
This song has less than a twenty second guitar solo.Alex packs a lot into that short guitar solo.Very cool.
Geddy sounds better on this version than on the Clockwork Angels live CD!
I agree! I really miss these special evenings with Rush. R I P Professor!
You're very very welcome man!
may 24th 1986 sacramento ca...........best show ever........threw a light stick at neil and hit his symbol....... i will always dream in middletown.......kinda dumb in hindsight....
I concur!
Agree!
Now thats cool. Unfortunately there'll be no chance of reenacting that moment this season. LL Rush!! F Bettman!!
You're welcome man!
Thanks. Sony HX 9 16X Zoom 1080p vid quality. You're welcome!
Quite welcome!
God is voice is so shot. I cant imagine they arent going to be doing this for much longer. Even on notes that arent that high he looks like he is seriously struggling.
How is Cygnus X-1 underrated? Everyone loves that song!
I feel the same way.
adding on i wish they woulda played this in pittsburgh last night.....oh well
You sound surprised lol. I think it's quite obvious he would be struggling on this tour. He had been already struggling on the Time machine tour, on most of the songs. You can't really blame on him though. The man is 59 old...
I'd give him a break for trying to reach that high C note at the first minute of the video. It's almost impossible to make that one sound good.
Still love the man.
