Straight to the point. No endless waffling. Thank you. Appreciated.
Great intro Cody, would love to see a video with a Netgate as an alternative to the USG Pro - I still can't believe you can't rate limit a wired connection on a USG. I'm planning to build a new house soon and as much as I love Ubiquiti and their products, their Firewall has been lacking.
Maybe a Netgate, if it's easy enough to configure and manage for non-network engineers like myself, is an option. Looking forward to more content on this 👍🏻
Ty, Literally watched like 2 hrs of advanced stuff on pfsense but this one was more helpful lmao
Great video as always i need to get my hands on one of these.
Try Amazon I think they are out of stock for the most part
Great stuff as usual
Great video! I know it's silly, but the screw-on barrel power connector was a selling point for me.
Not silly the barrel power is great
@@MactelecomNetworks I agree with you, I would love to see more companies include these type of connectors. Keep up the great work my man.
So curious I don’t have this or something - I only have the udm-pro then connected to a fiber switch and 48 port - so does UDM-Pro already have a firewall or is the firewall on UDM-Pro not the best? This is a school
Thanks great videos
The UDM pro has a firewall built in. If you are looking for more advanced features such as policy based routing, whole home vpn this is where you would need a pfsense
are you still using it ? whats your one year opinion ? thanks
Good video Cody, i just did a Pfsense video with vlans & how to setup Pfsense with one nic.. One day ill buy the Netgate 6100, and try that..
Nice I’ll take a look at your video. The 6100 is a great device have one at home
Good video. I like the Netgate devices. Sadly I was very disappointed with my SG-3100 at Gigabit speeds. It's dual core CPU just doesn't cut it if you want to use any of the add in packages. Also Suricata just wasn't stable even on the latest firmware. Netgate also admitted some port related slowness. I would be curious how well the SG-2100 does with Suricata. Running a Supermicro C2758 now with the C2000 hardware fix. It's bored. I may go back to my UDMP again if they get most of the software oddities figured out.
I have always used Protectli for my PFSense customers for a few years now. As crazy as it sounds, the only issues I have ever had with PFsense was with , you guessed it, Netgate devices. Either underperforming with Snort/Suricata running or the initial config from the factory being corrupted. I will give Kudos for Netgate support, WHen I did have issues with the Netgate devices their support was top notch and very easy to work with.
Opnsense is good if you rage-quit pfsense. I bounce between the two if I hit a brick wall with one
@@MichaelSmith-fg8xh I just keep looking for something that does what it advertises. PFSense does if you manually install some of the packages like NTop. I bought the UDMP thinking it would do Enough, sadly most of what it should do doesn't work as advertised.

Any idea on the micro sim config?
Haven’t looked into it but I will
I too am trying to find info on this
Did you re-flash it with ZFS? It's now officially supported by Netgate, but won't be the default file system until the next pfsense+ release. if not you really need to use safe shutdown with NUT or APC UPS package.
Just a little nit pick... You say gigabit when you mean gigaBYTE (for the ram and storage)
Yup I know 😊
