Such a bloody shame that these places are left to rot when we have such a huge homeless issue in our country! I know that some of these places are a bit off the beaten track but surely they could be used as a short term solution!

i was there in the 80s that place is a youth corrective training centre also known as CT or borstal maximum stay is 3 to six months if you misbehaved they would send you to Waikeria prison. it was cold in the winter and hot in the summer. you did PT and press ups in the snow morning 5am and night 6pm for 30 minutes. And you would work in the forestry. It was run like an army camp. I was in the secure block in the last cell in the end when i was captured after i escaped when i was 16.🚔👮♂️👮♂️👮♂️👮♂️
Last lag in West Camp 2004 never went Back there again Amen learnt my lesson Now 💤
This brings back memories bro thank you so much. This is the West Wing where I stayed in Cell 25 from February to July of 2015 when it finally closed and I was about to be released. Last 20 Weeks of great memories. The Chow room with the paintings had many cool functions where we use to practice our haka for a powhiri. The Kitchen dining room where we shared church on Sundays and study courses. The naughty room was the Gym room filled with a Bike, Rowing machine and a bench press workout machine. The door hanging off its hinges was the Laundry room. The Recreational pool room was cool. Playing Touch Footy almost everyday was classic. Miss those days. First time seeing snow

Been here many many times when this place was up and running. Prison visits every Sunday as a child. Didn't know it has been left to ruins. 😮

I worked there as a Officer.
Iv done time here and the other 2 units aswell which are still open cedar 1 and cedar 2.
I was in there in 98. So much mischief going on it was kind of fun. I ended up in solitary confinement for my troubles but we had a blast in there too lol
I remember the carving room next to the Gates. Also a guy getting a hiding in the eating area infront of the guards during breakfast. This was 2001. Brought back some memories
I served 4.5 months there in the early 90s lol had a great time there ,Rangipo west camp ?

@@TheForsakenExplorerNz it's not tht bad in the winter those pipes on the wall are heaters I use to dry my clothes on them sometimes cos we only had 2 dryer in the unit and they were always in use

So that was a tinnie dealer's jail. Sad. That first part where you entered looked like and reminded me of a time when I went with some "associates " to visit a convicted tinnie dealer. We were not alowed to visit him at the end of our day. Sad that men were put in here for a plant god made to help some people with serious medical conditions than only tinnies could help them with and the men put in a place like this for somthing so not bad.

14:48 “Out Of Bounds” was what I named my edit of this place! When we visited all four units were still standing. Some demolition looks like it has has occurred, but otherwise your video looks familiar to me. This unit might be the next to vanish. Love how much effort they put into the panoramic mural in the dining hall. A contact has visited recently and said one of the two nearest eastern units has completely gone. We didn’t experience any ghosts, though!
I remember when I was there back in 99 there was an ants who used to work in the kitchen. Harmless man. Looking at the place now there is definitely someone dwelling there I can tell.
This West Wing, Rangipo Prison, held minimum security prisoners, was always a challenge catching those that were trying to bring in drugs and other contraband. Managed to do a few extra shifts in that unit, the units I worked in were Birch and then North
I was in there in 98. There was lots of mischief going on. Had heaps of fun lol.

This site was originally coalminers quarters, hence the older original structures which lay the foundation for prison infrastructure..... There was an extended wing also which has been removed as they were modular units able to be transported.

There were never ever coal mines in this area. That was Ohura Prison.

That place had a lot of bad Energy in there you'd go from a carm unit to a mad one real fast

Medium security Prison, this was a working forestry Prison in the Bush so nowhere to run away to also lol, thank you again for watching 🙂🙂❤

Work camp prison they would work in the forestry
Died when you pulled your phone out... No app will ever be a ghost/spirit detection tool. Get an emf meter. Get a proximity 360 light. Get an actual spirit box. Don't mock the dead with an app.
Your looking at a very old video and I currently have all those tools, and for your information I've tested the phone app side by side with the "Real" tool and they preform exactly the same...
