    Christina Rosetti published her poem "In the Bleak Midwinter" some thirty years before it inspired Gustav Holst to write this well-loved melodic setting.
    HARPS
    Recorded on a Musicmakers 33-string Jolie harp.
    Performed on a Musicmakers 32-string Gothic harp (for the sake of the old-fashioned aesthetic of the video).

    Lyrics:
    In the bleak mid-winter
    Frosty wind made moan;
    Earth stood hard as iron,
    Water like a stone;
    Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
    Snow on snow,
    In the bleak mid-winter
    Long ago.
    Our God, heaven cannot hold Him
    Nor earth sustain,
    Heaven and earth shall flee away
    When He comes to reign:
    In the bleak mid-winter
    A stable-place sufficed
    The Lord God Almighty -
    Jesus Christ.
    Enough for Him, whom cherubim
    Worship night and day,
    A breastful of milk
    And a mangerful of hay;
    Enough for Him, whom Angels
    Fall down before,
    The ox and ass and camel
    Which adore.
    Angels and Archangels
    May have gathered there,
    Cherubim and seraphim
    Thronged the air;
    But only His Mother
    In her maiden bliss
    Worshipped the Beloved
    With a kiss.
    What can I give Him,
    Poor as I am? -
    If I were a Shepherd
    I would bring a lamb;
    If I were a Wise Man
    I would do my part, -
    Yet what I can I give Him, -
    Give my heart.

    Beautiful Stephanie. Reminds me of what I so much missed last Christmas. Good company, good food and good times round a blazing fire at my sister's home. All in the English countryside of Hampshire close to where Jane Austen once lived.

    This piece makes me cry every time I listen it to. I love the old fashioned settings you created and still more your heartfelt harp arrangement. Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing your talent and sensibility as much as your intrisincal simplicity through music. Gustav Holst translated into music the gentleness and humbleness of Christina Rossetti's lovely poem. You, playing it as you do, add a luminous aura to both of those artists and their creations. I'm deeply moved.

      I really love anything that involves costuming, and In the Bleak Midwinter has long been a favorite melody of mine!

      @@StephanieClaussen Since childhood I love costuming too: Long skirts, flowing sleeves, anything but the 20th century fashion. I've kept that preference and admire how you bring old fashioned clothes and articles into the scenes of your videos. I guess all romantic people have love for the old fashioned!😊

    You are one of my favorite arrangers now. I love your pieces and love learning them. They are challenging without being frustrating and flow beautifully on the fingers. Have you ever heard the Holly and Ivy Girl or Over the hill and O'er the dale (or Vale depending on the version). I would love to see what you could arrange them into! Anyway just wanted to let you know that I am enjoying your sheet music.
