The Thailand Privilege, DTV and LTR programs specifically allow for remote work. LTR is for those working for substantial companies making a good salary. DTV, once stamped in your passport, allows remote working and self employment as a freelancer or consultant. Privilege, once purchased, also permits flipping open the laptop either as a remote worker or if you’re self employed. Otherwise, yes, you should have a work permit.
One of the bits of information that’s missing on the LTR is what happens if you change or terminate your job during the 5 years. Any insight on that???
Hello I have questions about the new 5-year DTV visa. 1. if I have my own business and operate only online will the application be accepted? 2. if I extend the visa for another 180 days what about taxes on income from abroad? Also am I exempt from them? Thank you in advance for your answers
While everything is still be sorted in terms of what Embassies and Immigration will accept, yes, your online business should allow you to qualify, and you’ll need to submit proof of its existence and viability. Second, once you reside in the Kingdom for more than 180 days you will be considered tax domiciled in Thailand. There are double taxation agreements that mitigate the burden, but do consult with a tax adviser before extending your visa.
Thumbs up 👍
