I think this version has a lot less shading than their previous ones. I don't think it will bother me once I am using it, but blank it is more noticeable.
Same for me, but I still love it, but I do wish it wasn’t shaded.
Just a heads up, this is #9 TRP, not the "original" #7 paper. For plenty of people that's fine but it's worth knowing. (Source: their ig comments when they first announced the paper a few months ago)
I have a fascination with these planners but I haven't pulled the trigger (yet).

When did they change to the #9?
@@melso3 That's slightly complicated! Their 2020 planners and notebooks were Tomoegawa TRP Machine 7, then 2021-2023 were Tomoegawa Machine 9. 2024 planners and notebooks were Sanzen, and then 2025 is back to Machine 9 for one last year.

Yay! I’m glad that you got your planner, mines came in last week. I’m using an A5 all in one unstacked currently and purchased another one to use as my 2025 planner. I’ve already gone through with my sticky notes and marked how I plan to set it up for next year. Having December in next years planner makes it so tempting to jump into next years planner. I did think about using those pages for something else but haven’t decided yet on what I’m going to do. Looking forward to your next video on how you’ll set yours up.

Thanks for the great review. Moving from Hobonichi Cousin to the Wonderland 222 - Got the A5 core, unstacked weekends, as I wasn't using all of the HC daily pages in 2024. Also got a Weeks Mega this year instead of the regular, so will probably change up where some of my notes go.
I am a little concerned that the changes in column width for 2025 will mean more TCMC kit 'sticker surgery' than I had figured on. And that I didn't know about this this change until they made their 'finished product' vlog. I'm excited for the TRP original and the layouts. Not sure what I will do with the trackers, since I don't normally do that, so open to ideas.
I measured wrong! I went and double checked to be sure before I left this comment. The weekly columns ARE 1.3inches which will fit TCMC kits and other shops that use the 1.3in measurement :) As for the trackers, maybe try a different routines (exercise, eating out, sleep 8hrs, flossing teeth, etc.) or a fun tracker (mood using different colors, or check off if you laughed that day). I'm trying a new tracker (hopefully) where I am going to check off when I clean different parts of my house. You could also track food groups, or make a tracker for your partner/pets of when they do stuff :)
Will you do a pen test across all of the planners that you will be using to compare the papers? Does the original TR paper perform very differently?
I've already tested my own planners and they are all fine. I won't do a comparison on video, but I can tell you the original TRP does perform slightly different because its coating is different. The new sanzen paper has a faster dry time and a different feel. The old is much smoother and shows a bit more variation in ink properties and allows for better blending with watercolors. I much prefer the old TRP but since it is no longer in production, I can make do with the Sanzen :) Plus, they seem to be working on the recipe still so maybe we will get a better version at some point.
So strange, I’ve never used the A5 from them. It’s my favourite A6 and I go back to it time after time. I had my set of planners all sorted for 2025, but wondering if I really could do it all in the W222 A5. Thanks for this 😊, and I’m sure my other half will also thank you for the opportunity to order my Christmas present so early 😂
I am really happy with this A5, it may be the excitement, but I really feel like I could fit all my "stuff" into this one book.

The Just Scribble Plans is on my list to try for sure. I adore all the layouts she chose and that the whole book is dated is a huge plus. I'm just waiting for my wallet to recover a bit haha. Congrats on selling your Hobonichis!

I wish their customer service was better. When I found out about the seed card, I was so stressed because our customs in my country would destroy the package for containing it (yay, not!) But that was 3 weeks ago and they haven't emailed me back :/

Love to have another option. I was going to use an undated notebook to track my health and fitness but have changed my mind because I realized I want the dates and month layouts after all. I was going to make it but don’t enjoy the measuring it requires because I didn’t want to make another hobonichi order but didn’t like the cover colors or one thing or other page wise. I think I’ll be making an order once my no buy finish’s!😅
I think this book has a lot of great spreads for health and fitness! They also have their older versions of the planners available for a big discount!

This is a very useful video, thank you so much :-) I am still on the fence of getting a Wonderland222 - mainly I was wondering how white or cream/yellow the TRP in Wonderland222 this year. What's your assessment (if comparing the Sterling Ink either 2024 or 2025, with Wonderland 2025)? Thank you ^^b
I compared it next to Sterling Ink 2024 and Hobonichi 2025 white paper and it is almost EXACTLY the same shade as the Hobonichi. It is white in appearance to me. I think the warm grey shading they use makes the paper look more "cream" but it is white!

I will be interested to see how this one works for you as compared to your Cousin. I do like the "look" of this planner.
I'm excited! I think all the extra pages will be really fun to play with. The *only* thing I am thinking may pose a problem, is having to date the back pages. But I may just predate the whole book before the year starts.
