  • Let the adventure in Dagestan begin! In recent years, Dagestan has been capturing the hearts of tourists with its breathtaking beauty. The landscapes here are truly mesmerizing and incredibly diverse. From the picturesque coast of the Caspian Sea in Makhachkala and Derbent, to the majestic mountains on the borders with Chechnya and Azerbaijan, each region of the republic has its own unique charm.
But it's not just the natural beauty that sets Dagestan apart. The people of this region are equally remarkable. With over 110 nations and nationalities residing here, Dagestan boasts a rich cultural tapestry. The hospitality of the Dagestani people made me feel right at home, and I was fortunate to witness their incredible traditions, including a visit to a hereditary silver craftsman. Although I couldn't replicate his craftsmanship and ended up ruining everything, it added a touch of humor to the experience!
During this trip, I had the opportunity to explore the wonders of Dagestan, including the Caspian Sea (which was a first for me!), Sarkum Sand Dune, Sulak Canyon, Irganay Reservoir, Khunzakh Waterfall, the Stone Bowl, the mountain village of Kubachi where I met the silversmith, Mount Mayak (which could easily be a location for the next Lord of the Rings episode), the abandoned village of Gamsutl, and last but not least, the oldest city in Russia, Derbent, with its grand fortress that I had longed to visit.
Make sure to watch the video showcasing my journey through the extraordinary mountain kingdom of Dagestan and witness the beauty of these incredible places firsthand. I was truly amazed by this region, and I'm certain that you will fall in love with it too!

Тим у нас устанет изучать национальности и удивляться на сколько замечательные и разнообразные люди живут во всей России. Каждый народ у нас самый добрый, великодушный и самобытный. В России нет плохих наций, есть плохие люди, но так во всем мире. Всем добра

@@TimKirbysTravel That’s nice to know. I used to live in the US and I traveled to a great number of places there (yes, including Grand Canyon😉). Somehow in Russia I switch between Moscow and Peter. Time to explore other parts of the country. Your videos are inspiring. Keep up the great work 👍👍👍

Have you already visited Kurush? 41°16'51" s. w. 47°49'48" V. D. Kurush is the highest mountain settlement in the Caucasus, in Russia and in Europe (if you draw the border between Europe and Asia along the Caucasian ridge), located at an altitude of 2560 meters above sea level.
