What really gets me is Sunny's mom, and also ... and especially.... Polly. **SPOILERS**
First, Sunny's mom. Okay, so Mari dies by an apparent suicide. That's, like, strike 1. Sunny should have had therapy right then and there, because he was *twelve* when this happened. And then, Sunny stops going to school and stops talking to his friends. That's strike 2. Then Sunny's dad leaves the family (the game doesn't tell us if this is a death, or a divorce, etc). Regardless of how, that's strike 3. How the frick does it go this far, and Sunny's mom *DOESN'T* get some professional help for this kid? Now, Polly... Basil is showing very obvious signs of anxiety and depression. Basil is a total nervous wreck, and Polly is a nurse. She works in the medical field, she should at least have some kind of suspicion that Basil is not well in the head, especially when he avoids her like the plague, doesn't have any friends (or even talk to any friends), etc. Why the frick didn't she call for some professional help?

Not because of any malicious intent or that they don’t notice the signs, but generally because of delusional hope that the person will tell them if something is wrong/ will tell them if they need help and the very human thing to not want to invade said person’s comfort or bother them.
This is gonna sound a bit harsh but it’s true non the less. The adult or guardian isn’t solely to blame of course that would be foolish to completely pin on them. The victim themselves have to speak up and ask for help. You can’t really except people to be a mind reader or be a master at reading emotions. People are…Kinda dense. Top tier Also, what program do you use for animatics? I’m getting into digital art but I still have no clue if editing software and animation software is different.
I used fire alpaca for this, it's free. It has an onion skin mode in the [view] option. After drawing the frames I just used movie maker :) Most people draw animation frames separately and import it into an editing software to get the timing right. hope this helps!
Your art is REALLY incredible! Everything about them is really expressive! I cannot imagine how much time and practice it took to be able to do this. I respect you a lot!
Honestly I gave Basil’s importance some flack this past week, but I think I figured out why he and the other friends are integral to the story: It makes you care about Sunny. If the story was just Sunny, most of the story would’ve been sad, but it wouldn’t have been emotional. I still question why Basil also had to be traumatized. If anyone can give me a legitimate reason, please reply. EDIT: it’s so literally the rest of the game could happen. Since Basil knows the truth, his dream version risks Sunny finding out the truth which he didn’t want at first. Unless... Dream Mari could’ve found it. Idk.
Basil is/was a plot device. If it was just Sunny by himself, then what exactly in the real world would trigger the memories and the events of the game? The Bathroom Scene in the first IRL segment is basically what kicks off the whole path to Sunny discovering the repressed memories (and it's also the first thing that tells the player that there is something _very definitely wrong_ in the real life world), and it also causes a version of Basil to keep manifesting in his dreams that leads him to those memories. Mari does some leading too, but in a much more subtle way, just to mix things up a little. If it weren't for that bathroom scene, that first scene in Headspace with Basil could have just come across as a normal nightmare or something. But the Bathroom Scene in Basil's house tells the player that this is _real_ that something _very, very bad_ happened with the two of them and it gives the player a chance to start piecing together a puzzle, and it also debunks the "it's just in Sunny's head" theory. If Sunny had gone solo for the whole thing, then a very easy way would be to just say "Oh, Sunny's just imagining things." Having a 2nd person there destroys that theory.
Nah, Omori just pretends it doesn't exist. That's Sunny's whole thing. The storage room where the locked toybox is, the door to Basil's room in the bad ending, and the entirety of Black Space is all Sunny just pretending bad things don't exist and erasing them (or at least _trying_ to) from his memory. Until, something reminds him and it all comes crashing down. "There's nothing here." Total denial by attempting to erase the truth from existence.
Wasn't Sunny (I'm referring to Omori) the one with the crush on Aubrey? Or maybe we have femBasilxOmori kind of stuff? Honestly I'd like to see that. Edit:just read the comment twice and I have messed up big time
