  • It's crazy to think that I had the opportunity to interview the two people that literally taught me how to understand the Spanish language but I did! In this video I had the opportunity to speak with David and Ana from ‪@HowtoSpanishOfficial‬ . They have an amazing podcast that has helped me improve my Spanish listening skills so much. Their topics are always interesting and they always bring unique and insightful perspectives to each topic. I highly recommend that you all check out their channel and even considering becoming a member on their Patreon. They have a lot of valuable resources there that will help you improve your Spanish. I hope you all enjoy the conversation!

    Una cosa que para mí que hace un poco difícil el español mexicano son todas esas palabras que son de origin náhuatl u otros idiomas indígenas. Hay algunas diferencias entre el español hablado en México y en EEUU por ejemplo el Tex-Mex. Uno de mis antiguos compañeros de trabajo que es México-Americano me dijo que una vez fue a México y compró unos dulces de una vendedora de la calle y ella le 22:48 dijo, “Oh, usted es del otro lado.”

All of you inspire me so I just keep studying languages as they are my passion. Good luck, keep up the great work. Don't understand why he used the subjunctive at 12:35 "no digo que no haya opciones es algo que ha ido avanzando". I feel like learning the "trigger words" for the spanish doesn't always work, i need a better way of understanding it

    • @MikeBen
      @MikeBen  2 года назад +1

      This is a great point. I’ve found personally that Mexicans use the subjunctive in situations like this much more often than other Spanish speakers. They essentially will use the subjunctive conjugations for anything that isn’t concrete. If he would’ve used “hay opiniones” you have to view that as a concrete statement of fact. Him using the subjunctive however is essentially him saying that in his opinion, hypothetically he doesn’t think that options don’t exist. I hope this helps

    Hey Mike bruh good content.
    Im listening to this sped up. Sounds crazy? Yes Espanol es muy rapido. Im having trouble with the speed of Spanish.
    So im practicing listening to Espanol faster. So when I listen to Spanish at regular speed its now slower. This actually works. Have you tried this?

    • @MikeBen
      @MikeBen  9 месяцев назад +1

      I never have but this does seem like it would work as long as you already have decent listening skills. I definitely found that when I started listening to Spanish speakers that naturally speak faster, the average persons rate/speed became much easier to understand.

    Hello Mike I have a question can you elaborate more on listening comprehension levels. In terms of understanding nothing to words then sentences and so. I'm at a stage where I hear the word then I translate it to English in my head then I understand what's being said. It's a process

    • @MikeBen
      @MikeBen  2 года назад

      That is a natural process. It took me a year and 9 months to pass the stage that you’re describing. With that said I would say be patient and consistent and over time that internal translation process will naturally go away. I know it sounds illogical but after a year and a half I started noticing that I was able to listen and understand without mentally translating
